The potential here is absolute novel length!

We're talking about a character whose beginnings are basically hinted at, a "childhood" who can be reworked a hundred ways over and a future left untainted. After all, whose to say that the storage room HAS to be KARR's deactivation by Wilton's hands.

If it sparks, this WILL make for some great readings...

Nicely done, KRR, but, one little nitpick: KARR didn't know about KITT before deactivation.

Uh, no, it is pretty obvious in TDR that he didn't know of KITT's existance. He thought he was the only one, and when Tony and Rev brought up KITT, he got rather testy about it, and then called him a production line copy. He even claims "I am one of a kind"

No real biggie, just a note. Once again, fan fic writers can be the most fickle when it comes to canon.

Great minds think alike. I've just been reading the Trust Doesn't Rust novelisation and been thinking about Karr's history and how good a story that would make. Hmmm, maybe I should have a go myself...

Ditto - only it's 're-reading', in my case. An interesting line to follow or discard, from the novelisation - KARR was being built in California. When the government tried to muscle in on KARR's development, with an eye to utilising the vehicle for defence purposes, Wilton Knight packed up the whole she-bang and moved back to the Knight Estate in Nevada.

Nice short, KRR, pretty funny in a couple of places.

By all means people, have a go. I intend to make my own response, just not at the moment. I have a simple, one-track mind that can really only handle one fic at a time.

Excellent Shadow. I love the twist about Wilton lying -- nice touch. And 'wooden people' causing his demise. You definitely built a case for his future behavior.

Yay. I finally managed to get around to finishing my entry for this challenge. I am housing it over at my site, and I already announced it in another thread, but I figured it was only right to bring this one back up to the top since it inspired me to write it. It is a little longer than the rest (short story? me? never.) But I do hope that you all enjoy it.
