Yeah, they recycled a shot from the backdoor pilot too.. I forgot to mention that, heh... Still need to watch it again, forgot to mention liking the "black ice" thing too.

I knew it wasn't (never watched the show) since I knew the sets were destroyed.... Sucks this show doesn't seem to have the budget it needs... I wonder if I were rich if I could buy my way to a producer position, hmm...

Just want to add my 2 cents, liked the black ice spray. Much greener than an oil slick.
Hated the transformation to the .. what ever it was that rolled into the casino.
Call me Mike.

This was a good episode if NBC wants to spin-off a new show "Billy". But this was not by any means a good episode of Knight Rider. We've just become so used to being disappointed in all the things we're not seeing every week that we keep lowering our standards and go out of our way to look for little things that we like in each episode.

But no. No no no no no. We should not accept the past 2 weeks as "Knight Rider". When the series was retooled after the 2-hour movie, we were promised action and excitement. They're not delivering.

Thank god this episode was better than last week. It was pretty much entertaining all the way through. KITT's voice is starting to grow on me too now that he's acting a bit more human. The main reason I think I liked this episode was that the acting was good all around. I think this is probably the first episode where I didn't feel the writing or the acting was sub par. I'll exclude Rivai from that though, I'd rather watch paint dry than listen to her anymore. I'm pretty happy she's not going to be on the show anymore.

Anyone else notice that Graiman's love interest was the wife from Journeyman? I thought was pretty cool. I also couldn't help but think she would be perfect as a permanent mechanic for KITT. She reminded me of Bonnie.

Only complaint is still not enough car action. The show is starting to feel low budget with the extreme lack of non-blue screen driving scenes and stunts. KITT feels too much like a side player in this show, he is supposed to be the main character.

Overall, liked the episode.

In addition, I agree with Mike. While I enjoyed the episode, I didn't enjoy it for being "Knight Rider" if that makes sense.

Wow My_Friend_KITT! They must have filmed at off hours. They sure have a way of sneaking around right under our noses.

Mike drives away in a blue civic.. ha! But come on.. green week and you couldn't get a civic hybrid?

Okay so I liked this one.. but I fear Mike might be right, we have lowered our standards. There were a lot of good things in this episode, KITT crashing though walls, I know that was one thing people have been waiting for. But okay I've never been one to complain about the advertising, but if it starts to dictate how a writer has to write the script -then it is really taking away from the show, and probably from the writers creative process. Yes yes Ford flex, new Mustang whoop-de-do. It kinda made KITT look really old after they opened those doors and revealed him hiding there in a cloud of his own imagined smog. Cough cough, some futuristic car you turned out to be buddy.
If the show was good on its own accord it would have advertisers lining up no matter what they wrote. But if it's not.. and Fords footing the bill, than Fords going to be calling the shots. I really wish that Ford and NBC would just empower the writers and let them find their own self confidence and creativity again. Hopefully the retooling has done just that.

Now I understand Sue why you drive to all the locations...Keep it up.
Even though I was not really paying attention, the 2 best scenes I enjoyed the most were KITT driving through the wall (by the way was he still the Scion then *in Attack Mode*). I loved Billy's face when he asked KITT for Attack Mode. The other favorite scene was the Oil Slick and KITT rubbing his nose in it by asking to open the gate too.

You know, I just realized that Torres was no where to be seen.... O_o

There might have been too much focus on Billy and especially Charles and his "former flame" with the awful Green Week stuff but with how awful last week's episode was I think I'm much more forgiving. A major lack of Mike/KITT interaction too aside from the beginning and KITT is still for the most part a prop when KITT should be Mike's partner. But eh, one more episode to go and then after that we see exactly what changes are taking effect...

Yeah that was moved cause of the Rosie special. We were all getting concerned that they would never show Knight Fever because they mysteriously said KR will return after the Holidays. So neps checked with his NBC contact for that info.

Way better than the previous fare and liked the boys in the field, although Billy got sidetracked :o

The dialogue between Mike & Kitt is one good constant on the show and liked it this ep.......loved the '"missed you" bits

Ain`t the Graimans real lurvesick folk  .......but I totally liked Sarah`s reaction to her dad dating :P

No new ep until Jan?

I thought the ep, by the current standard was okay, maybe 3.5/5?
I kept comparing it to TOS and the Vegas episodes (really only Goliath and Goliath Returns as I recall).

Also expected KI3T to have transformed into the new Mustang 2010 rather than hidden behind some doors.
cloudkitt wrote:It's all rather frustrating, they should change the name of this show to Squandered Potential.

I don't have a problem with some relationship-style tension, and I don't mind the montages of scantily-clad women, the old show did it too.
I've said this before - the show has the potential to be amazing and yet repeatedly it gets wasted and becomes some mediocre show.

cloudkitt wrote:the fact that they couldn't keep their hands off each other. So we're supposed to believe that the entire organization is completely out of control of their hormones?
Really miffed me too. Keeping it discreet would have worked well. Then again, they don't really know how to portray (sexual) tension in this show.

PHOENIXZERO wrote:Yeah, they recycled a shot from the backdoor pilot too.
I swear I spotted this too. TBH I was also waiting for "Valet" bit from the promos to be in here (or in a similar style).
zero wrote:KITT feels too much like a side player in this show
They don't focus on the relationship between Mike and KI3T as much as they did in the original series. Plus Billy didn't really seem to play any kind of part in the mission. Would have worked better had he been needed. Otherwise KI3T should have gone to save Mike on his own, old-skool!

No but I noticed he said "$4 million dollars was stolen". Shouldn't it have been were given that there was more than one dollar stolen? I might not be gramatically correct, but KI3T should be perfect!

A couple of interesting points in talking to one of the producers...

As you folks have pretty much figured out, not one frame was actually shot in Vegas. It's all on set, stock and borrowed footage from the pilot, and on location at the Morongo.

The new Ford was a very closely guarded secret. So closely guarded that they didn't even bring a real car. It was a mock-up that apparently if you leaned against would have fallen apart. Looked pretty good, though.

The magic of hollywood!

That's sort of the way I feel, except, I just can't do it here. Every week, i go in, hoping they'll do something to really impress me, and every week, they let me down. Last night, i was optimistic about the Black Ice, all the Zodiac talk, and the comedy-but then it got bogged down. Billy's romance, not to mention Graiman's- By the way, I'm really starting to not like the guy- that discussion with KITT at the end about how he didn't trust her, but sill would meet her at her motel really annoyed me. The "ocean's 11" plotline put me to sleep, and the whole thing was done so some security guy could get his job back? The bad guys on this show are so bad, I keep wanting Mike to beat them up so badly that they'll NEVER think about doing something like this again. I did like some of the group interactions, and really didn't miss Torres- but yeah, this show is definitely action light. you notice how the VFX crew hasn't stopped by recently? Are these people the same crew from LAS VEGAS? If the producers said they saw the first season of TOS to get the feel of the show, did they FF though all the action scenes, because they got in the way of character interaction? I just don't get this.

I really enjoyed it. I thought it was one of the better episodes this season. The humor wasn't forced. The plot was a nice caper story. I thought the acting was better. The writing was sharper than in other episodes. Some more car action would have been nice. Overall though I thought it was a step in the right direction.

We've just become so used to being disappointed in all the things we're not seeing every week that we keep lowering our standards and go out of our way to look for little things that we like in each episode.

You took the words right out of my mouth. Couldn't agree more! :good:

In comparison to what we've seen so far Knight of the Zodiac was probably one notch above the standard. Having said that doesn't necessarily mean that it's close to any good because it wasn't. All we got to see again was if next to nothing yet a little action from Mike and Kitt when they join criminals to rob a casino in Las Vegas.
Meanwhile we've got Billy running in circles in the casino fooling around, looking for girls and what not! Why?
Kitt should have been in surveillance mode or something to be able to track Mike if something should go wrong and as if by magic Billy comes out of his day dream to look for Mike who went into a trap while delivering the money.
What if Billy didn't notice Mike disappear and why do they need Billy to drive Kitt? It's not like Kitt couldn't smash into the wall himself.
I thought I was exaggerating with the girls in bikinis and stuff but boy they're really pushing it. Close filming breasts and women rubbing on olive oil? As it turns out now the show is certainly not that age appropriate for anyone younger than 13.
And why does Zoe always monitor peoples personal business? Every time someone is making out (or whatever) in the SCC she just has to put it on the big screen and make such a big deal about it. Just leave Charles out of the picture for the moment and assist Mike in anyway you can. That way you won't get bored to go off on someone else and invade on their privacy...
Michael: Kitt what matters to me is who you are not what you look like. Sure we don't have the car so we can't turbo boost so we can't go over 200 miles an hour but it was all icing on the cake anyway

Man, Billy's girl Courtney was DAMN HOT! I want her!
(replaying this video to see more eye-candy...)

BTW, the one thing that was VERY LAME to me was this. That Ford Flex was supposed to be the main prize of the casino that night. How come Billy could just come into the car and ride it without no one stopping him? If you ride the main prize car in a casino out, I believe everyone would have shouted and called you a thief. What's more it was clearly shown that there were GUARDS nearby and they were not reacting at all.

When does the valet ever park KITT? Two times Mike had the valet park KITT. KITT should have parked himself. You dont let some valet driver drive your state of the art car!!

I agree with lack of car action that everyone seems to be posting.

Hopefully I can remember the show still exists in a couple months, the next time we see it I might be watching American Idol. J/K

My mini review: Not the best, not the worst. Different, and different can be good.

I agree that maybe we have lowered our standards, that Kitt crashing through a wall is the high point, when watching the original I'd expect this for granted, and it wouldn't be the stand-out spectacular stunt of the episode (unless he turbo boosts out the wall like Karr over Kitt in Trust doesnt Rust).

So it's a bit worrying that Kitt's big WOW factor in this episode was something the original Kitt did quite often which wasn't a big deal back then. Us Knight Rider fans might look back with nostalgia to that, and bless them for doing it, but the general audience which they need to hook and bring back won't be impressed with that being the singular and only impressive stunt in the outing.

The criminal element also seemed like something out of Happy Days. They looked like they were going to break into comedy. Why cast people who look and act so none threatening if they aren't going to be used for comedy? I couldn't take the security guard serious, he looked like someone youd expect to sell you ice cream and my immediate thought was Mike could take the guy blindfolded.

Now surprisingly i really enjoyed Billy's subplot. The girl was nice and I kept waiting for a twist that didn't happen. Kudos to them for playing it straight. Sometimes the nice guy does get the nice girl.

Not the greatest, not the worst. Will never be remembered as a classic, but it's a lot better than last weeks.

Perhaps the episode can be best summed up with two words: Harmless fun. :good:

I thought it was 'ok'. I will repeat what many have said already "not bad, not great"

I like the chemistry between Mike and Billy that even though Mike would have been more the 'jock' type character and Billy the computer 'nerd' or (KNERD....) they still have 'guy' time. Billy is a much better friend for Mike than the guy from the b/d show from feb.

I didnt like that Charles called the red mustang KITT 2.0 surely thats wrong... isnt the 3000 already Kitt 2.0???

And why would the bother showing Kitt as a 2010 mustang to the woman when we know the car can take on any form anyway? Not complaining about the car itself, it looks great but imagine it in black :D

I think it would have been nice if Zoe had been a little jealous that Billy was looking for her advice instead of her attention as thats how its seems to have been played in every other episode...

I cant believe we've got to wait now for the next episode! :o
