in knight of the phoenix at the began when michael first got abord kitt for the first time. when michael says so i can't hit any thing. that safety system was never mentioned in all the the other episodes of knight rider. if michael safety unit on he shouldn't of had any probloms with hitting garth and his big rig.

I think the KITT CPU was meant to be the safety unit. Remeber KITT can overide Michael if he is putting himself into danger. However, Michael can always override KITT, the case with Goliath.

I though he did. I'm gonna hafta look that one up. It always seems like KITT is always objecting when Michael is about to do something dangerous.

MK did not have to overide KITT when they charged Goliath. KITT just unwillingly went along with Michael. But Michael has had to overide KITT several times.

Yeah. Doesn't KITT go along because the plan seems half way do able or something.

I never really liked that episode so I don't have much recolection of the events of the episode.

How?

kitt would have gone up with michael on something. kitt's overide gives him full power. and kitt can easily go to auto criuse. becausae his program is human life. so he would have to help michael.

Remember the end of Knight of the Phoenix? (The Pilot)

Michael is shot, sitting there bleeding, and KITT wants to turn around, get him medical help, and take on Tanya another day.

But he can't. Because within it all, KITT has to obey Michael.

He can protest. He can whine. In some cases where he thinks the odds are too high for certain destruction, he will try to override Michael.

But he has to still obey Michael. KITT's safety unit is in fact KITT's CPU and his programming. He can't have a crash unless Michael directs it. He can't hit anything, unless Michael wants to. So therefore everything KITT does is under Michael's guidance no matter what.

I think in that situation both were unaware of the danger. Both had not yet encountered another MBS coated vehicle*. So I think KITT was unaware of the human factor involved.

*There was KARR in "Trust Doesn't Rust" but a physical confrontation was never acheived in that episode.
