Hey, welcome to the board. I haven't been on here all that long myself. And I barely ever come on anyway. But since you're new here, I thought I'd give you a welcome.

Be careful what you say on here. You can't just go around saying whatever you want. People can get very offended by things you tell them. You don't want to be a very nice person in actuality, and then people here think you're some kind of troublemaker.

It is best to just post things when you have a question about something or can actually explain why you belive something. I try not to say anything unless absolutely necessary.

Live Long And Prosper...
Not trying to get attention, but does that have anything to do with what Vox NY-114 (Orlando Jones) says in the modern TIME MACHINE when Dr. Alexander Hartdegan (Guy Pearce) is through talking to him?

Hey Guys/Gals..................

Post by Jim » Wed Dec 03, 2003 5:37 pm

Sorry, how rude of me!............I should have at least introduced myself properly!!

My name's Jim, I'm an IT trainer based in and around England and I've been a fan of KR since I was a kid.

I used to watch every episode that was aired on Saturdays (If my memory serves me correctly!) as a kid and loved it then as much as I love it now!

I started purchasing some KR DVD's approx 6 months ago and reliving those wonderful Turbo Boosts that KITT used to do........ah what fond memories!

I could go on and on and on.........but I wont cos you guys would probaby log off!!

I hope to gain and hopefully share some info RE: KR and speak to fellow fans.

Have fun!

Jim

Ok Ben, you must have never seen that movie. It is a remake of a classic made back in the 60's. That was an adaptation of H.G. Well's classic novel written back in 1895. Just for you Ben, here is a link that can provide you information about the movie:

http://movies.go.com/movietimes/movie?i ... &radius=10

Official Website: http://timemachine.countingdown.com/con ... /main.html

This is like one of my most favorite movies to watch. I used to have a separate thread talking about it in the Lounge. It was made last year and I saw it at the theatre right when it came out. I have it at home on DVD and have seen it like 10 times now.

Conversation between Guy Pearce and Orlando Jones in TIME MACHINE remake:

Vox NY-114: How can I help you?
Dr. Alexander Hartdegan: My question is "Why can one not change the past?"

Vox NY-114: You cannot change the past because you cannot go into the past.
Dr. Alexander Hartdegan: But what if one could?

Vox NY-114: One cannot.
Dr. Alexander Hartdegan: Tell me about the time machine.

Vox NY-114: TIME MACHINE was written by H.G. Wells in 1894. It was later adapted into a motion picture directed by George Pal and remade as a musical. Would you like to hear selections from the score?
Dr. Alexander Hartdegan: No!

Vox NY-114: THERE'S A PLACE....CALLED TOMORROW! A PLACE OF JOY! NOT A SORROW! CAN'T YOU SEE....IT'S QUITE A PLACE FOR YOU AND....
Dr. Alexander Hartdegan: That's quite enough.

Vox NY-114: Will there be anything else?
Dr. Alexander Hartdegan: No, I'm fine thank you.

Dr. Alexander Hartdegan: Perhaps I'll have better luck in a few hundred years.
Vox NY-114: Live long and prosper!

He was quoting Star Trek most likely! That s where it came from, and that is why I use it...

Yeah, that's probably where they got it from. Vox said it cause he doesn't know Dr. Hartdegan is a time-traveler from another century. It was in the year 2030 where they chatted. Alexander Hartdegan is actually from the year 1903. He completed his machine four years after a personal tragedy which he wanted to go back and change. But after a failure to, he went ahead to the future to find out why interference with the course of time is something that cannot be done just the way you want it to. By the way Ben, did you look at the link and actually read the short synopsis below?

Cole that is a frickin SPOOF. Time Machine came out a few years ago, Trek has been around since the 60's.

Not to mention, Alexander was talking to the Vox in the future and possibly a universe where Trek too exists as a TV show.

A few years ago? More like last year in March. 5 days before my 19th birthday. I know because I went to see it with the roommate I had then on the second day it was out.

Hey everyone, remember Jim?! The new guy? The one who wanted to say hello to all of us? How about we focus on greeting him for now, and start up the off-topic discussions in the lounge?

^If you're sorry to bring it up again, then DON'T!

For the last time, the line originated on the old '60s Star Trek, and the 2002 remake of The Time Machine referenced it. If that's the first time you ever heard that line, it doesn't mean it's where the line originated from. End of story. Buh-bye. Image

Oh, and welcome to the board, Jim. Hope we haven't scared you off yet. ;)

Yes, I know. I'm not a Star Trek fanatic. I was just asking Ben if that's what it was referring to cause that's what it made me think of. I only put all the stuff about the modern Time Machine to explain to Ben what it was since he's never seen it.

That picture is there for Ben to see so he can have an idea of what I'm talking about. And by the way, Timothy Dalton was not even half the Bond Sean Connery was. Pierce Brosnan is the only one who comes close.

Jordan, I don't mean to pick on you here, but if you have something that you want only Ben to see, then use the PM function, rather than continuing to stray off a welcome thread way off topic. It's a little rude.

We're not always like this, Jim, we just have our moments. :)
