Petrol or Liquid Hydrogen?

Post by Arjun » Wed Sep 10, 2003 6:54 am

Does KITT run on petrol or liquid hydrogen?

In one of the 1'st season episodes, KITT went in for a refuel.

Then, in "Give me liberty.....", the announcer said that the Knight 2000 ran on liquid hydrogen. Any idea?

Yeah he ran on normal fuel only till a certain point, Bonnie changed it after that. And i guess he would have been refueled when MK and KITT were in the Semi..... just something us (the viewers) did not see.

KITT could run on any combustible fuel. If you watch Give Me Liberty, Give Me Death, KITT needed to have some kind of alternative fuel to run on in the race, since it was an alternative fuel testing race. So Bonnie had to flush out his systems, and change him over to Liquid Hydrogen.

Now, there is nothing that says that he wasn't changed back to running on standard gas, which I imagine they would have just to keep the operating costs down, as well as keep KITT's stability a little more...stable, since Liquid Hydrogen is not exactly stable in many environments. In at least one episode later on, he does state something along the lines that his dream would be to get 100 miles to a gallon of gas, which suggests that he was reverted back to the (then) cheaper alternative.

Don't worry... you wouldn't hear any engine pings because all of KITT's complaining would drown it out.

I want my car to talk them, it makes a lot of weird creaks and groans especially with the air on :) !

lol mr fusion i love it

michael is seen pouring a can of beer into kitt's gas tank....

stranger "what the hell are you doing"

michael "i need fuel"

Mr fusion powers the super pursuit mode and the EBS but the regular knight industries two thousand runs on ordinary gasoline, it always has....there isnt gona be a gas station around here until sometime after the next commercial

Kitt "you mean I'm out of gas?"

Michael "so kitt do you run on regular unleaded gasoline?"

KITT "unfortunately no, i require something with a little more kick, Plutonium"

ok someone stop me before i say something really stupid, oops too late....

Kitt "when i hit 288mph, you're gonna see some serious sh1t!"

If KITT ran on gas, then how does he manage such long distances?

Quite often, he never goes in for a refuel and when he was ejected into that TV set in a convertible, that car ran out of gas real quick!

He gets great gas mileage, and as K.I.T.T said, his refuelling is just something we don't see a lot of. It's sort of like on Star Trek, where we don't even know where the bathrooms are. ;)

LOL There's actually a good reason you don't see a Star Trek toilet. Because in all likelihood the thing just converts matter to energy, just like the replicator converts energy to matter.

Do you wanna think about that? ;)

I've thought about worse, maybe KITT has an onboard toilet that does the same thing. It just happens to be built into the seat. ;)
