Post by knight_driver » Tue Jun 10, 2003 4:11 pm

How many of you here have or plan to have a KITT or KARR replica? Just curious.

So whose parts are you going to use? Also do you post on the Knight Registries message board?

Sorry. I didn't realize there was another knightdriver here. I picked that name because its what I plan to name my web site when I finish it and put it online but it looks like you already thought of that too.

think i'll go with a knight passions nose, or an original moulded one and place cutouts over it to give it the 1/2 season look.

im waiting to see how the knight passions electronics turn out too for the 1/2 season dash.

55watt scanner from KOE

custom made blackout so it fits perfectly

lower and overhead consoles maybe from knight passions also

and most importantly is the paint job, my dad works as a body specialist so i think he can do the prep work and get his friend to spray it. a lovely shiny gloss black.

but this is all in my head in a perfect worlds where ive got loads of money ! lol

ive posted a couple of times on knight registries, havnt really got anything to contribute at the moment. i do post quite frequently on the KOE webboard however, n im a moderator at knight rider uk

i have a replica will a nagy nose, louisell overhead, yancey (for now) lower console, forget 1 season electronics, and in the mail should be my new 2-lcd dash from bill myers. it also has a visor lcd, a nagy wheel, and a wild copper pod unit. it is a little more on the basic side then some others that i've read about...nothing crazy. besides the basic kr equipment, it has a 8 speaker stereo system (no subs), a dvd, and a vcr. i might throw in an atari later when it is all done. the only thing left to do is order my new headliner.

I want one so bad, I can taste it. It's been my dream since I was 12 to own that car. Here it is 20 years later, and I'm still waiting.. and waiting.. and waiting.

Maybe some of us weren't meant to live the dream but just dream it.

Great I just sent off a check to him for 2 PMD hubcaps. I thought I would save myself some money and go with him instead of Don Colie. It's only been a week and the check hasn't cleared yet so I won't freak out yet. I'll be back from vacation in mid July, so if I don't have them yet I'll start to freak!
KITT project is on again!

Currently working on: brand new stock tan interior, almost done!

Who's this Eric Nagy? The guys on knightreplicas.com don't think much of him.

Funny years ago when Eric Shave's Diamondback Automotives was the company to stay away from 100's of people bragged on Eric Nagy saying He was absolutely awesome. Now he's in the exact same boat with people as Diamondback. Any ideas why He went sour?

Most likely because they are continuing down a long line.

Rob Louisell
Eric Shave
Eric Nagy
Bills custom kits
and so on and so on......

They probably were (and did) get tired of the constant whining from
the preschoolers at the registries. I want, I want, I want... and then
complain when they dont get next day delievery for something they
didn't even pay for originally.

Almost makes you NOT want to build one of these cars. Companies
come, companies go, the conversion world will continue as usual.
That is why most of the serious KITT builders left that site long ago.
Now it is good for the occasional bit of info someone posts or good
for a laugh at the constant bickering at one another. It's pretty sad!

first off, i talked to bill last night and things are getting back on track for him. it's a very long story....

army_f_body- i think you still might be able to get your hubcaps. bill has another guy do the fiberglass work and he has two molds. it takes about a day to finish both of them. if you have questions you can still email bill but since he doesn't have a computer of his own anymore (he is leaving the business-like i said long story) it is going to take a while to reply. he is hoping to get a laptop (when he gets into some $$$) so he can check his email on the road.

second- knightdriver, why did you put rob louisell in the same list as nagy and shave? rob rocks! he is still in the kr business but not as much as he used to. i think the only thing he does now is the dash. he's a great guy.

aussieknight- nagy is a guy that bought some of louisell's molds awhile back and went into the kr business. i think he is out of business or close anyways! his stuff is ok but it would take months and months and months to get an order. he just isn't a relibale guy.

diamond back went under but eric shave is still around...i think. i almost got my dash from him but then he just dropped off the face of the earth. i don't know what happened but according to the registries, he is in the same boat as nagy. nuff said!
knightdriver is right on one thing though. the stress is enormous! i think for nagy and shave, they just have bad customer service. some business have great personel and others do not. in bills case, it wasn't so much the kr stuff, it was everything else. we'll just leave it at that......was that long enough! jeeeezzzzz!

Actually, I listed them in order of company startings. Rob got out of the business due to being overwhelmed with people wanting things. He has NOT had any bad business dealings as far as I know. You are correct. ROB IS THE MAN. Sorry it sounded like he was in neglect.

The other companies started off the same. They were great with service but as they got overwhelmed, they just decided to fizzle out. But the mistake they made was to keep taking orders and not following thru on them. It's easy to take a payment but when it comes to delievering, they tend to lax on it until they get in to depp and decide to disappear.

I can understand Bills situation. I have been there. I think it is best to do what Mark does. Have the product onhand already before a payment is even taken. That gives a qiuck turn around time and a happy consumer.

Again, Didnt mean to put Rob in with the bad guys. It was more of a who came first comapny wise........

thanks for clearing that up knightdriver. and you're right, i would think a conversion company would have the simple fiberglass parts already made for quick turn around. oh well.
