kitt attraction at Universal Studios 80's

I found this video on youtube and always wondered what kind of experience people had sitting in that car over the water.

turns out not a very fun one. The voice actor isn't a recorded clip of William Daniels but I'm assuming someone who had a walkie talkie system at a booth somewhere.

What's so strange to think about is with all the real life advances in technology, actually holding conversations with your car's AI may all so soon become not only a possible thing, but a regular thing.

Everyone hears about these great advances in technology. I'd be happy if my car did something useful like allow me to type in a destination, recline my seat, tint the windows, and enjoy a nap while it drives me where I need to go. It takes me about 40 minutes to find parking by my job, I'd love it if my car could drop me off by my office and pick me up at the end of a long day.

Erm...don't make plans to have a nap behind the wheel just yet. Here's why... https://youtu.be/r3AwNXZiZt8?t=1m43s

At least in this early Tesla model, the AI will throw a dangerous fit. It literally stops the car in the middle of the street and refuses to go on wards. That can get people killed. I've also thought about the scenario where the driver has suffered a major medical issue and is relying on the auto pilot to get them to a hospital with little else but vocal commands. Then, the AI throws a fit.
