Hotwheels KITT, need help

Post by Assasinge » Sun Sep 11, 2016 7:54 am

So I'm looking to buy the diecast model of kitt where he had flipping up headlights and opening ttops and the hood opens etc.

I found this: http://www.collectablediecast.com/Hot-W ... hgoduS8Aag

Is this the one? Because I know the box has DH on the front of it and this page doesn't seem to provide any details of the car itself so I don't know. I found a fee similar ones like this one too but I don't want to spend 200$ in it right now.

There's two "editions" of the 1/18 Hotwheels KITT, first the Hotwheels Elite KITT which has opening headlights and all and then there's the standard edition Hotwheels KITT without opening headlights. Elite version was the first release and more expensive usually, packaging is also different to the later one.
The one in your link seems to be the standard edition without opening headlights.

I just figured that out a few days ago. A bit disappointing, I must say to find out that the 1:43 scale version doesn't have all the cool features. Couldn't they at least have added the scanner to work in the front at least? Literally nothing works, other than to look good on your shelf.

Yeah it is. The best 1/43 scale KITT I got was from Aoshima. Hotwheels have been disappointing in general. I have been waiting for the Super Elite Version for a long time now. And I think I heard rumours that it has been cancelled. What a bummer.

Usually 1/43 models are like that, without opening features because panel gaps are too visible in that little scale. Also, not sure if there still are small enough LED components to work in 1/43 scale for the scanner and even if there is, the price might be too expensive.
Few exceptions that I know of about the opening and moving features are BMW 1/43 models which usually have opening hood to show up the engine, probably BMW (Bayerische Motoren Werke) want that feature to show up their engines. Also Autoart models used to have turning front wheels but Autoart has since ceased making 1/43 models and concentrating in 1/18 scale. Bummer as Autoart 1/43 models were really high quality ones.
