Re: When and why did this forum die?
Am I the only one that notices this topic is named incorrectly? This forum isn't dead...
Re: When and why did this forum die?
I'm sorry, Assasinge. When I came here in June following several years of inactivity, the forum activity was very low.
I am digging the ideas by KFCreator. Only if we could actually build a team capable enough of making that a reality.

Aw, yeah. I really want to see this website get a do over, or a makeover.

Re: When and why did this forum die?
The subject isn't exactly deceptive, by any means. When you consider that years ago, the site could see 10-30 topics appear at any random day. Now, we have gone whole days without even a single reply being made. Much less a new topic.
Many factors are involved. The show is getting ever older. New fans are few and far between. I know that in the past, independent television stations would run shows like Knight Rider to fill time slots and because it was a good show. These days, there's a lot more of these franchise networks that associated or just bought out the independents. I also have no idea how often cable channels may ever air old shows. DVD sets can help. Though, those often are purchased more for nostalgia.
There's also only so much one can talk about with this topic until things become repetitive.
Also doesn't help that the site's code and the updates of the server are getting wider and code commands slowly stop working.
It's also a show about 'future technology' with a real world that is making this stuff into reality.
Sometimes, I think YouTube is probably the greatest of the tools out there to revive life into old shows. If only the studios would stop stomping them out with copyright strikes.
There's other reasons, too. It's just 4 am and I'm growing too tired to think of more.

Re: When and why did this forum die?
Well at 4 am, I'd still give anything to drive KITT anywhere, at anytime. Except for our crap laws we have in America...
But anyway, I'md have to agree with jup, the show is already pretty old, even the 2008 one, which is still I'd say wuite ahead of its time and maybe even today, it's not long before we'll have a car similar to KI3T's at some point, right? But now that I think of it, I don't know why we're still talking about this topic when in reality it's not going to change the way the site is, and the way the world is right now. I don't think this site is going to get a major do over or anything, it probably won't make a difference in the way things will run, but I can tell you that wherever KITT is, or whervever Wilton Knight, even if the only person who likes KR is left down to just me, or anyone I'm certain they'll find a way to make a difference in the lives of each person they came across, they won't have to look like hotshots driving a black t-top that can do anything, KITT doesn't have to be a black t-top, he could just be sitting inside of a used Toyoyta for all we know, but he'll stillbe making a difference, somewhere out there in this small world, a helpless, powerless world as it is right now. Thank you.

Re: When and why did this forum die?
Well...hey...I still kick myself for having missed out on an opportunity to have met David Hasselhoff when he literally made a stop off in my neighborhood. (The town's film festival gave him a lifetime achievement award and the only facility capable for miles around was the same casino I debated on stopping by for a pizza after work on that very night.) 'Truer' Knight Rider fans were in the know on his appearance and I had zero idea. Then again, had I actually gone for said pizza...I'd still have missed his departure by about an hour or three. So...better not to have known. (Could have faked a cold to get away from work, though...) Still can dream about how awesome it would have been to take a drive with the one and only Michael Knight as he hopped into the Trans...KITT that was parked outside to go for one of California's best hamburgers that was just (quite a few) blocks away.
I understand a bit about them laws, all right. No blacked out tail lights. Got to have the rear view mirror. Full circle steering wheel. No dash TV's. Red lights on the front are illegal. Seat belts. The list goes on. Yet, it's remarkable just how many things on a standard car can be missing while the car remains street legal.
The reason we are still here, even talking about this show is because we love it for all it's faults, aging concepts, old fashion action and such. Why, right now, as of this entry, I have another Glen A. Larson show on the television, set to pause. All thanks to the wondrous miracle that is YouTube.

Re: When and why did this forum die?
Couldn't have said it better myself, in fact, the reason this website is even functioning as it is (in its worst state right now too) is because of that and all of us, that have come and gone on this website for years, new and old will forever keep the spirit of Knight Rider in this world. Tested e-mail notification by sending an email from the forum profile system to myself and it worked. Sent also two pm's to you Matthew about problems I discovered regarding my unread PM and inaccessible control panel, hope you got them.
Edit: unread PM problem solved.

I'll take that as a no."The knightrideronline.com page isn’t working
knightrideronline.com is currently unable to handle this request.
HTTP ERROR 500"

Re: When and why did this forum die?
Yeah, I've found quite a few HTTP 500 errors since the update last night, but it's a work in progress. If you shoot me a PM with the e-mail address you want to use, I'm more than happy to change it though, since that part of the admin panel was still working last I checked.

Re: When and why did this forum die?
Actually, I came here via the e-mail notice. So, the update to that ancient account that froze my account has successfully updated.
