Memories of Glen Larson
"I have to say that as TV shows go, I was a true fan of just about anything Glen Larson made. I say "true fan" because at that age I had know idea who Glen Larson was, or what he had to do with these great TV shows I was watching. I fell in love with his creations and visions at a young age before it was important to me to know who or how it was. Knowing what I know now, I can say I am a fan of Glen Larson, and much more than just his creations."
What are your thoughts of Glen Larson or his shows? Did you get to see him at a Knight Rider event or another convention?
Here's a list of some of his projects:
Six Million Dollar Man
Bionic Woman
Quincy
Hardy Boys / Nancy Drew
Battlestar Galactica
Magnum P.I.
BJ & The Bear
Buck Rogers
The Fall Guy
Manimal
Automan
The Highwayman

Re: Memories of Glen Larson
I first met Glen Larson 10 years ago this week. He attended a special theatrical screening of Buck Rogers, celebrating its DVD release. There was a discussion with the Buck Rogers cast and crew, and the first thing Glen did was apologize for the tacky opening credits. (The credits are different than the series - very dated. See for yourself - it gets good around 1:00- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BINijYepahA" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;).
It may seem like a small thing, but the fact that Larson was able to laugh at his own work really made me respect him. And while he really liked the theme of Knight a Rider that one man can make a difference, he also understood that it was still a show about a talking car. He understood the fun part of his shows. Glen publicly mentioned the Knight Rider motion picture, but only to say "we're close to being able to talk about it, but not tonight." Unfortunately, his full movie deal was never realized.
Stu Phillips, who I met at Knight Con Germany that summer, was there and after the panel he introduced me to Glen. We talked a bit about Germany and Glen started singing in German. I saw Glen at other Knight Rider and Galactica events over the years and he was always quick to make jokes and be friendly to his many fans.
Can't find photos from that night - I took them with a - *gasp* - FILM camera and the prints elude me. But as I recall they weren't very good photos to begin with.

Re: Memories of Glen Larson
Glen A. Larson was One of the Towering figures of SciFi and Action Television. His shows have become Iconic and Legendary as well as launched careers. When I heard the news of his passing, I was devastated. The Last Time I was this sad was the passing of Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry in 1991(and as many know, there are a lot of links between the two legendary franchises), and Dick Clark in 2012.
Glen's legacy will live on , just as Gene's and Dick's will. I say to his family-I grieve with thee.
