Does anyone else's Elite KITT have this t-top issue?

Post by KBKNIGHT » Mon Oct 28, 2013 7:33 pm

I own a 1/18 elite KITT that i love very much because it is so detailed and brings back those KR memories...But does anyone else have this T-Top situation? The LEFT t top pops out much esier than the right t top. Is this normal? does anyone else have this issue where it pops out from being positioned? Could the little bumps on the t tops be worn, or is it actually the KITT car? I was hoping I could get some pictures of where the t tops pop into the socket becuase mine has this tiny dent around the enclosure of the hole that allows the t top to pop out esier. Is anyone elses KITT molded this way? I don't think it chipped because it is die cast and the t tops are thin plastic. plus the paint where the tiny dent is is still pretty intact despite slight rubs from removing and appliying the t tops a few extra times around the hinge holes. If you could send me information and pictures of the right t top that would be great! I am just wondering if this little dent is normal or not. Thank you.

Hello KBNIGHT,

I also have the same issue with one of the T-Top.
I'll try to post pics later tonight when i get home.

There are comparison pics and review on this forum. Unfortunately there's no way to inspect it, and what you get is YMMV. My model came out fine I think, except two minor nitpick.

Hello KBNIGHT,

Mine is chipped also, but it looks worse than yours.
The T-Top pops right off everytime I close it.

I'm also annoyed at the chipped license plate on the bottom.
I'm wondering if i can use paint, or any replacement sticker to cover it.

Just a little disappointed :(
Other than that everything else is perfect.

Dear icudodo,

I being the Knight Rider fan that i am recommend you don't paint it or attempt to change anything. there both beautiful models, and collectors want things 100% original. The flaws you have are completely minor and common. Don't feel bad, that's just the way the manifacture made it. If you try to change anything, any mistakes could be permanent! I like your KITT car the way it is and i myself have decided to keep my KITT with it's flaws 100% original. take my advice- i was really OCD and worried over the smallest things wrong with my KITT, but i decided to except it. Your model is awesome the way it is, and will be valuable in the future...I'm just glad to know i'm not the only one with that t-top issue. Have a good night and remember the Knight!!! Enjoy your KITT.
