(non-car) Are there scanners that run on batteries?

Not sure if I'm the only one, but I always thought it would be cool to have a scanner bar somewhere in the house. Not necessarily full size or screen accurate, but a simple bar that can mimic KITTs light trail. In my man cave, on the PC, whatever. Is there such thing as a battery operated scanner bar anywhere? :kitt:

I've seen some small rectangular screens made for Kitt dashes on ebay. I always wondered if they can be adapted to switch them to battery powered voice modulators. Some of us who don't have the car would still like the voice modulator.

Aoshima KITT modelkit has the scanner electronics which run with batteries. You could install it in the place you want, size may be good enough to be installed in computer case for instance. It has the all-on effect when started and very nice trailing effect too.
KITT voicebox would indeed be awesome, playing KITT phrases through it and see the LED's working like KITT in the tv-show :)

Too bad they don't make a strip you can use anywhere!
