I was watching parts of redemption of a champion and Michael asked kitt could he re establish files that have been deleted off a disk? Kitt replied back that he was flattered that Michael felt his capabilities were inexhaustible but even he had his limits.Even with his systems that couldn't do everything they pretended kitt could,he couldn't restore a deleted file?

Undeletion is possible on FAT systems (used by MS-DOS) since their early years.
There was already a program called UNERASE in Norton Utilities v1.0 in... 1982.

Welcome to the board.I guess kitt wasn't able to access the files on the disk because the producers of that episode just wouldn't let him.

Heh, I recently rewatched that episode, too, and I was a little amused by KITT's reply to Michael. I guess it's whether as Knight Racer says, or Bonnie hadn't installed that function yet. LOL

There are also different levels of "delete".

If you just delete a file, you're removing the index information pointing to the data but the content of the file still stay on your hard drive and it's easy to recover.

If you overwrite the file, then the data is pretty much gone. Almost. Sophisticated software can look at the previous states of bits on hard drives and recover the data.

But if the data is rewritten many times, you're out of luck. (I think on MacOS, the super-secure "erase drive" function rewrites the data 35 times.)

So we can just pretend that the file was deleted With Extreme Prejudice and KITT was unable to recover it.

Ironically, I watched Knight to Kings Pawn and KI3T noticed deleted files after he fully rebooted after the KARR battle.

I just looked at that scene and the way Ki3t was saying that he felt a peice of him is gone,I think he was referring to what the closest thing a computer could feel as a sense of grief when they lose someone like Sarah's father.I think thats why Sarah and Mike gave eachother that look.Although I wouldn't know why Mike responded with "You're not gone kitt.You're all right here."

I thought that Billy and Zoey had to find the backup files to KI3T....but had to get some vital data sent to an Xbox. But even when they had all the data Billy said he didn't know if it would be totally like the Original without comparing it. I always believed that KI3T realized his data wasn't exactly like his original, which delayed his functions of weapons

You can recover files from a disk by using any third party software like “remo recover tool”. As I have used this utility before few months back and got all the data in few clicks effortlessly. Hope it will recover your files without facing any problem.
