G4 TV

Post by David Whiteheart » Sat Jan 05, 2013 1:17 am

I don't know if anyone else has posted this, but G4 TV is hosting the original KITT now. For how long I don't know. I do know for sure that they aren't showing the series in order by episode...unfortunately.

They might have shown the final original episodes today because G4 is planning to do an overhaul of the network soon. That could include dropping KR from their lineup sometime within the next month. That's just my own theory.

What's funny is that these original airings that have been broadcasted on many channels and edited to fit more commercial time actually included more screen area on the top and bottom that is not included on the dvd's we purchased. In Custom Kitt we may not see Michael and April modify kitt's appearence but we do see a monitor mount on kitt's door when he's breifed by Devon about the theft via video phone.

I hope G4 won't drop Knight Rider. I do enjoy seeing it. I did watch it when it was first on in the 80's some but not all of it, so it's been nice seeing what I missed. There is one episode I haven't seen yet and that is
Knight of the Juggernaut. I believe KITT was rebuilt in that one

Knight of the Juggernaught was one of my favorites too.Its the first episode I ever collected. My highschool friend's father had an original NBC airing uncut. It was funny how he was rebuilt with top of the line technicians in Junk yard dog yet Bonnie was able to do most of the hardware with whats available in the semi and the ghetto crew was able to handle kitt's body damage. That episode was run on G4 the first time they went through all the episodes. This is the second run. What episode are they up to now?

They're re-airing the end of the second season (Goliath Returns and so on), and then Knight of the Drones later this week.

(Don't know if anyone else noticed, but they skipped Dead of Knight and The Nineteenth Hole last time around.)

The Goliath episodes were my favorite even more than the kitt vs karr and trust doesn't rust.I Iiked the first Goliath particularly more.It just seemed to me like it was the most expensive episode of the entire series. They put a lot of work into that episode with locations, the casinos, set decorations.and planes, red bluff, the guest stars,Garthe's base of operations, and the construction of Goliath.

They also skipped White Line Warriors. That one and Dead of Knight I'm sure were skipped because of the Prince songs that they no longer have the rights to. Knight of the Drones has a Prince song too, but the scene with the song is cut out in syndicated versions.

Its funny, G4 is using the old master tapes, so they can't use the dvd versions of the skipped episodes that remove the songs. However, Netflix uses the dvd versions, or at least the new masters, yet Dead of Knight is one of the only eps they don't have even though the dvd removed the song and strangely enough, they do have White Line Warriors with the Prince song intact. It must have slipped through.

I love seeing these "on air" where a commercial is actually a commercial. Still with Netflix and DVDs I can get my fix anytime.

You've never seen Knight of The Juggernaut? What a coincidence that G4 is around the same episode where I'm at currently.. I'm on my own Knight Rider marathon.. Watching all the episodes on dvd... Maybe you should get the dvd set too....

Hi
I am a huge Knight rider fan from the 1st time it aired in Australia from 14th November 1983, if I remember right.
I am shocked to find that my collection still contains a lot of missing songs.
Does anyone know what DVD and/or blu-ray versions I need, or where I can stream episodes to at least have all the Prince song episides - White Line Warrior, Knight of the Drones and Dead of Knight.
Thanks so much in advance - happy easter
