There were 2 different kitts used, the GE commercial with the robots, all the scenes were my kitt, except the screen shot of the dash, that was Gary Hunters 1/2 season dash. The Locomotive commercial, KITT racing down the warehouse is my kitt, and the KITT racing the train is Gary Hunters KITT. They used the original KITT voice (William Daniels) on the GE Locomotive Commercial. :-D

I loved that it sounds like they got Daniels to do the voice over of the train ad :).

That was footage of Brent Spiner from a Next Gen episode that was "Forest Gumped" into the commercial.

I just realized after watching a high def version of the ad KITT is not in AUTO CRUISE mode, when you see the interior shot the NORMAL CRUISE light is lit up below his voice box, whoops he he he.

Sorry to bump this thread, but I just saw these commercials and I immediately thought of this site. I really liked those, especially like the Knight Rider-esque music in the train one. Very well done, and William Daniels doing the voice is an added bonus. It almost sounds like they gave him the same mechanical effect that wasn't in the 2000 movie.

I should have known it would have belonged to one of the people here. Very, very cool. Who got to drive them?

(Good to see you all, by the way!)

My thoughts exactly. It sounds like there was some definite fan input there, as it seems the "mechanical" sound to William Daniels' voice is intentional. It's also an added bonus because I've been a GE employee for 7 years now. :D

That was so well done I was thinking how impressed I was how Brent Spiner's makeup made him look that young!

That just places it right on par with the television series. Mysterious hands. Voice displays that don't always sync. "Impossible" physics. Banked camera shots. Video footage that doesn't make sense. One time plot devices. Bad miniatures. Road burn outs from repeated takes. The "camera crew in the reflection" shot. Small details that change at whim. A dash that morphs at will. All that and so much more.

And, I can't help but pass up my favorite goof...'the only' shot of a synced up voice mod box on a remote shoot. It's suppose to be KARR speaking. But, is clearly KITT's red vocal display, reflecting off the seats.

After all, it wouldn't be 80s computer tech without the ultra impressive hacking program of...

10 PRINT "Computer detecting hacker."
20 PRINT "All your bases belong to us."
30 PRINT "Hacking successful. Command me, master."
40 GOTO 40

...and then, typing LIST to show the audience your proud programming expertise.

Don't forget the infamous "finger pressing turbo boost when kitt is driving himself" from late in the 2nd season. i forget the name of the ep but it's the one with the red 4x4 that shoots bullets that can penetrate kitt's tires and the villian is the same woman from goliath returns and soul survivor.

Now, that is one I did forget about. Someone wrote into the script that "Turbo was used". In editing, they took it literally to mean that 'generic turbo button press footage" was to be inserted. And, nobody watched through for errors, like that.

TV production is such a price and time conscious art that it'll cut corners by letting things slip that badly.
