Is the original KITT coming to the festival ?

Post by littecaser » Tue Apr 17, 2012 8:10 am

Dear Members

I am planning to go to KR festival this year from JAPAN.

And I would like to see real KITT used in the TV show.

I know that one very precise 1~2nd season version KITT for close up shot was in the festival in the past.

Can I see that KITT this year at the same place, I mean in the festival.

Please see the link below about KITT that I am talking about.

As far as I know, all screen used KITT were destroyed after Knight Rider was cancelled. It was an agreement Universal Pictures made with GM for providing them with the Trans Ams. The only KITTs that are around, besides the fan conversions, are either from the Universal Studios theme park, or those that went on tour for car shows.

Thank you for your reply!

So, you say that linked pictures of KITT on the before festival was not original one ?

Is it right ? Did you see real one in the festival ?

If that is not the one used in the TV.

I wonder that the same vehicle will participate to this year festival or not :dash: ?

How do you think ?

actually, a screen used KITT (afaik) was at the first Knight Rider Festival.

Thank you KITT for your kind reply.

I was sure that we had the original KITT on the first festival.

Now I wonder that the car is coming to the next festival on this May.

Cause I am living in Japan and it`s useless to go to Las vegas if they don`t have original one.

KITT, Do you think that the original one is coming to the festival this year too ?

I don't know, but I can email him and ask if he's bringing it again.

I can answer these questions - the original KITT that appeared at the first Knight Rider Festival WILL NOT be at the festival this year. The owner wants to, but it simply costs too much to transport the car.

There are a very small handful of original, screen used KITT cars left. It's true that most were crushed after the series ended, but Universal wasn't required to crush them all, just the ones involved in the train accident.

Thanks Joe for confirming what I thought always happened.I knew the show had to have had a few kitts since the pilot movie and then after a few episodes the train derailment that had to have Pontiac get rid of those trans ams since there's some law about cars affected in an accident before getting to the dealership.I knew there had to be some reason people were able to validate vin numbers to be the original kitts and many knew for a fact that the kitts were destroyed. Also who's to say new trans ams weren't purchased after that agreement especially for spm mode and convertible kitt.

Thanks for clearing that up for me, Joe. Maybe I'll clarify that by saying there are no 1st Season Cars with the original Scheffe nose left.

Just an update. All the details have not been worked out, but that original KITT is tentatively scheduled to be at the SOUTHERN KNIGHTS ATLANTA 2012 30th anniversary event. Hope to see you all there!

If I moved it up north it wouldn't be called SOUTHERN KNIGHTS ATLANTA anymore. We have several folks coming from "up north", including the New York area. You should come on down. The 30th anniversary comes along only once. So far, this is the only ALL KNIGHT RIDER event for the 30th anniversary in the US. Don't miss out!

Funny, Mark. How about NORTHERN KNIGHTS NEW YORK!
I can't travel...disability since those SOBs screwed me up during 9/11. Anyway, best of luck and maybe, someday, they'll have something this good up here that I can attend.

Wait a minute I learned last year at KR festival,That there was a original KITT stored somewhere in Nevada ?? :?

And how about that original KITT I found for sale near San Francisco (Dublin) at Kassabian motors back in 2007 ?? For $150K  Everyone FLIPPED out when I posted that car on Knight Registries,Then days later It was ALL OVER national news, radio,Internet, EVERYWHERE !!!!! and then the car sold-disappeared and never heard of again ??? :?

Would be nice to know some on screen car Vin's for my private research and my 1982 trans am documentation   8)

That's the car folks, the screen used Kitt #1083/1197 found about 7 years ago, restored and sold at Kassabian motors on 2007. This is the car you saw at KR events in Vegas, one of the pilot cars.

I talked to the owner of the original kitt the other day...due to the high cost of transport, kitt will not be appearing at any shows this year.

Tony,
If this was a pilot KITT, has any modifications been done on it? I would LOVE to see a picture of the overhead console if it is a true, original first season, and not modified.

Well, that car was used in the pilot but has since been reworked, I mean It was modified during the show's run...Inside out, ha ha...
And after the show was cancelled Mr. Carl Casper was given this and other cars to be used in the Budweiser/World of wheels circuit, so he altered this car's shape once again. I think the Casper's switches used in this same car are displayed by the current owner at the latest KR events.
In short every sign of Its usage in the Pilot was gone,I presume. Anyway ol' #1083 should be a Turbo blast to see in person, and his current owner is giving all the cares due to such a vehicle.
