A Shameless Reminder Plug

Post by Joe Huth » Fri Dec 16, 2011 7:24 am

For those of you who haven't checked out Knight Rider Historians, now is a good time! We are hard at work trying to provide updates on this site every 1-2 weeks. Today, we've posted an article on the Firebird from the 2008 pilot movie and we are 50 visits away from hitting the 10,000 mark! Not a bad accomplishment for a site started on September 1st! So head on over and if you have any suggestions for future articles, feel free to contact me!

Shame on you.
I can't believe someone from http://www.knightriderhistorians.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; is coming to our board to promote their website http://www.knightriderhistorians.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. Just because http://www.knightriderhistorians.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; is almost at 10,000 hits is no reason to create a thread telling people to go http://www.knightriderhistorians.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. If people want to visit http://www.knightriderhistorians.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;, they can visit http://www.knightriderhistorians.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; on their own time.

I have something I can contribute to your knight rider historians website.During the creation of the TKR series in 1997 the producers decided to knock on David's door to hire him for the series. He practically spit on his birthright back then because he was on a hit tv series Baywatch. He actually told them "Are you nuts!" which is funny because its just the complete opposite of how he's been feeling lately.Talking into his watch asking for kitt to come get him.Maybe we should switch on his attack mode once again but anyway here's the article from entertainment weekly:

Image

Now it was 10 years since his advice on how to make a kr series a success He told Justin Bruening at the playboy premiere party or the filming of the pilot, the same thing.Make it more about the buddy buddy relationship between a man and his car which is what I'm assuming the whole conversation in an episode was about when kitt entered the kitt cave and said "bac'n the day" and "partners cover for one another" came from.

Good luck with your website.

To make your description complete, the car is a Firebird “Formula”. The VIN will verify it.

The VIN will also verify that none of the documented “original 4 1982 Trans Ams” acquired for the show were the “first 1982 Trans Ams produced” according to Glen Larson’s words stated by another book author.

You're absolutely right, in my opinion the fact that the 3 or 4 (depends on the source) cars given to Mr. Larson prior to the Pilot being the very first ones off of the assembly line is a legend or a misunderstanding.
What makes me say this is what you stated about the VIN decoding. The model year 1982 Firebirds/Trans-Ams were most likely built from the 2nd half of 1981 to be available for GM dealers in 1982.
We know that the Pilot episode was filmed form July 8, 1982 on, but the first promo shots with David, Edward and the Jon Ward's Pilot Kitt were taken before. This means that Universal prolly received those cars in the late spring, so when the '82 bird production was already going on.
Now I think this may prove that Mr. Larson was most likely given those first cars directly off the assembly line but It doesn't mean they were the very 1st ones ever produced for that year.
Correct me if I'm wrong.

I tried to clarify the meaning of Larson’s statement that he made on the Knight Rider DVD set with another author. In his response, he was highly insulted at being corrected, insisting that the so-called “original 4” Larson received were indeed the “first 1982 Trans Ams” produced as per Larson’s own words, followed by a bunch of blah-blah-blah (that proved nothing), and closing with his typical “off” comment. Sorry, fact is fact.

Any of the cars that have been documented and verified as being of the original 4, the sequence number in the VIN proves without a shadow of a doubt that they were not the very first produced. The plate on the radiator support will even tell what week and month the car was made.

I am sure Joe has some of the VINs to back it up. From those VINs, late March – early April 82 at best.

The claim of the original 4 being the first produced, is a myth. Only good for sensationalized story telling.
