My 1982 Trans Am Exterior Replica for Sale

Post by Joe Huth » Thu Sep 29, 2011 8:31 am

I have decided to sell my replica in progress to fund another project....details and pics below:

1982 Pontiac Trans Am
V8 305 4 bbl carb (Converted from Crossfire)
59,000 original miles on body (less than 100 miles on motor)
Turbo 350 3 speed auto transmission (less than 100 miles on trans)

Options:
T-tops
Power Locks
Power Windows
Power Mirrors
Rear Defroster
Rear Hatch Release
Cruise Control
Air Conditioning

Knight Rider related parts:
Season 2/3 Front Nose by Billy Gunter at Knight Designs. (#001)
Front Camera Tow Bar
Non-Tinted Front Windshield
Non-Defrost Rear Hatch
Universal Studios Air Cleaner
Lowering Springs
15" Turbocast Rims with caps

Up for sale is my 1982 Trans Am, owned since 2008. This car was completely stripped down and rebuilt from the ground up with all new parts. Mechanically, this car is like a brand new 1982 Trans Am. From the factory, this car came as a true black and gold Trans Am with the tan PMD interior. This would be the EXACT same type of car that the studio used to make the first KITT cars (except for the Crossfire FI). See below for a breakdown of the work done.

ENGINE
-The Chevy 305 crate motor is brand new with less than 100 miles on it. The Crossfire Fuel Injection setup was swapped for a newly built Rochester Q-jet setup with a new fuel pressure regulator. None of the wiring harnesses were cut should you want to re-install the Crossfire setup. I have the complete CFI setup which can be negotiated into the deal should you wish. The air cleaner used is the exact same brand and model that they used for the cars on the series. The car idles smooth and runs flawlessly.
-The smog equipment and the Air conditioning equipment have been removed as that is what they did with the cars on the series. I do still have both setups and they can be easily reinstalled should you desire.
- The gas tank was removed, cleaned and a new fuel pump and sending unit installed.
- While the engine was out, the engine bay was repainted and detailed.

SUSPENSION
-The suspension was completely rebuilt with new tie rods, bushings, control arm parts, ball joints and an idler arm. New Koni shocks were installed along with a set of Eibach lowering springs, to give the car the same stance as the cars on screen.
-All components have been greased and should be maintenance free for a long time.
-The rear axle was removed, cleaned and painted.

BODY
-The car itself has NO rust whatsoever. I would give the paint an 8/10 with some minor dings and imperfections, but still very showable. This car also has the rare aftermarket door trim pieces just like the cars on the series. Both doors open and close smoothly and do not sag.
-The antenna hole and front ground effects holes have been filled and sanded smooth.

KNIGHT RIDER RELATED PARTS
-The front windshield has been swapped out for a NON-tinted version. This windshield ACTUALLY came from the company that made the non-tinted windshields for the show. This was an extra one that was made for the series but they never needed it. SUPER rare item.
-The front nose was built by Knight Designs and is numbered #001. This was customized by Billy with smoother turn signal indentations similar to the cars on screen. The tow bar and receiver is also installed.
-While this car did come from the factory with rear defrost, the glass hatch was swapped out for a non-defrost version. All cars on the series had non-defrost hatches to allow the camera an unobstructed view of the interior.
-This car also sports the 15 inch turbocast rims with hubcaps. The tires are nearly brand new with 90% tread left on them.
-Fog lights are included and installed, but not hooked up.
-This car has been marked up with “inventory control numbers” in a similar way that Universal Studios used to mark the cars in a half-dozen or so secret locations.

INTERIOR
-The complete tan interior plastics are included. These panels were professionally dyed to the correct 82-84 Trans Am Doeskin tan color. All panels are in MINT condition, clean and ready to install.
-A newly recovered tan headliner is included
-All 1982 specific tan front and rear seat belts are included.
-A near mint center console with the correct shifter is included.
-Rear Trunk carpet included
-Needs front carpet and seats.
-New window motors

BRAKING SYSTEM
-The braking system was completely rebuilt with new brake rotors, calipers, drums, hoses and pads.

EXHAUST SYSTEM
-A brand new stainless steel cat-back dual exhaust is included.

NEEDS
Beyond purchasing the typical KR conversion parts, these are the only things this car needs:
-Exhaust needs installed (but is included in sale)
-Front carpet
-Door Panels
-Front and rear seats (a standard Firebird driver’s seat is included)
-Fog lights need wired up
-Front end alignment
