If they are, indeed, going to do an "Elite" version, I'd love to see it not only more accurate, but with a light up dash, and they should definitely fix that horrible scanner and make it more accurate. Heck, if Aoshima can do it...
I also prefer the Season 1/2 nose, but don't know if they would change that. Finally, while I'm dreaming, how about a couple of KITT phrases with a flashing voice box. These aren't really hard requests, but I don't know if HotWheels cares enough to implement any of these.

Chris
Honestly, with the QC and wanton shortcuts to get a product out in the toy field, I seriously doubt they are going to put a whole lot of effort in the minute details we as collectors, are going to want, for the price they want.
This is based on what I have seen so far (Aoshima excluded) since the first release of KITT (the joke of a matchbox car with a camaro butt end and red sticker on the nose...where's the raised hood??????) Mattel 1/64 scale got the dash right....Charawheels got the body dead on, but since then laziness and cost cutting has given us replicas/toys that are not really up to par with what they want for them. I would love nothing better than to get an actual true to faithful KITT, from scanner, to seats, to L-plate but I fear that will not happen unless WE do it ourselves.

Just my two cents.

The A-Team Van they've made looks very well detailed altough I'm not exactly A-Team expert but Hotwheels have improved with other models too, for example their Ferrari 458 Italia model is excellent. This is good sign that the upcoming KITT models may be very well done and perhaps as accurate as the Aoshima plastic modelkits.

It looks like they went all out on the Hot Wheels KITT. Well with the exception of the crappy rims, too bad its now a limited edition release. Would love to own a few boxes of these :(

This looks like a custom model. Not legit to me.

Very well could be a custom model. Props to the creator.

Shame Hot wheels got the contract, Johnny Lightning would have been a far far better producer for KITT. they already have a near identical FB/TA with the proper rims and rubber tires already out (1/64). SO much more detail too, interior and exterior wise (and I gotta admit much better rims than even Charawheels)

I picked up a few Delorean's I see them everywhere now. I have been looking high and low for the A-team van. Luckily my Girlfriend hooked me up and got me an A-Team van off ebay for Christmas.

The above Hot Wheel's car is NOT a custom !! It's the real deal !! KITT IS in the 2012 Basic Line and also for the 1:18 Elite Series $160 OUCH !!! And 1:43 scale. EST release date is 4Th qtr-2012 :?

Looks like I'll have to alert my "Contacts" on getting these from the 72CT cases LOL

Excellent :) Better start saving money now for those KITT models. Do you know if the 18th scale KITT will have working scanner or other features? The 1/64 KITT looks pretty ok for the scale but it of course has wrong wheels and dashboard colour.
I'm looking forward especially for 1/43 KITT as most of my other modelcars are in that scale, for example Cadillac Seville MK1 & Mk2 by NEO Scale Models / American Excellence which were driven by the bad guys in Forget Me Not and Lost Knight. Might even buy another 1/43 KITT to make KARR from it.

Thanks for confirming, I had strong doubts about it being a custom when I saw the t-tops and remembering what they looked like on the japan version.

Thanks for confirming, Dave. Sorry for doubting it, but you know how we Knight Rider fans have been teased before. Man, I can't wait for the 1:18 KITT. If it's as detailed as my A-Team van, I look VERY forward to it!!!

Thanks for confirming it to be an actual KITT Hotwheels Dave. I agree with msKEN, they couldn't get ahold of the old Charawheels KITT rim molds? That would have really set it apart from all the others. I am so gonna scour the net and stores for at least three, one for MOC, one for modding the wheels and one just in case I FUBAR the second lol and so I can make a KARR version.

You can always get more accurate rims (better then Charawheels) from the latest Johnny Lightning 1984 Trans Am:

PBH, I already effectively cleaned out Ebay of their chrome and black TA's lol (well at least I did a couple of months ago when I did my 1/64 JL KITT) I have a couple of sets of those rims to spare :) My concern is the size difference between the HW and JL wheels. HW have notoriously been out of scale larger than they needed to be while JL is dead on scale with the car. When this comes out I cant wait to fully accurize this jewel :) I just hope they get the printing of the scanner properly aligned and not like in the above photos :)

It's unfortunate that the front bumber of the 1984 black T/A isn't the same as the chrome one :(

that is because the 84 Trans Am had the ground effects that was on ALL T/A (and Trans Am GTA) cars till the 92 model year (with minor changes in 91/92).

But isn't the chromed Johnny Lightning T/A a 1984 model as well?

The factory ground effects on ALL T/A's started in 1985. In 1984 they were an OPTION unless you went for the Recaro edition.

D'oh. Too bad the black Johnny Lighting T/A isn't the Recaro edition being how close that would be to KITT.
