As far as I know, every state requires you to have your hands at 10 and 2.I did find this a while ago somewhere.

You keep the pieces in your car for when you get pulled over.It would solve a few legality issues if there was a switch you could flip to slide the plastic part of the scanner to go from yellow to red.

Unfortunately, the gullwing steering wheel is illegal in all states. the steering wheel, must be a completely enclosed style, like a wheel

Not really!!!..most states do not allow the stock wheel to be modded or the airbag to be removed!..I've been stopped a few times and no "Gullwing Issues"!

so it really depends on what state you live in and if the cops there just straight up hate you?

so techically the gullwing is an after market wheel and as we all know after market wheels are perfectly legal in m ost states! or they'd never be sold any where!

I found this on another message board, apparently someone asked the FED's... lol

"There are no Federal requirements that a steering wheel be round.
However, the steering wheel and column are integral to the frontal crash
protection of the driver. Plus the steering wheel hub contains the air
bag.
An individual could legally replace the steering wheel with a
non-original equipment wheel. However, if a commercial entity replaced
the wheel it would likely be a violation of Federal law that prohibits
rendering inoperative a safety device or design."
