iPad dashboard

Post by Michael Pajaro » Fri Apr 09, 2010 12:06 am

In the two-hour pilot movie, some people described the Knight 3000 as having an "iPhone dash". Well, it looks like the dash was actually more of an iPad. Here's a story about how one guy installed a real iPad in his car:

It's not a Knight Rider replica, but still an interesting project.

You would certainly want to have a way to take it out at night. I can see this tempting car burglars.

This has been my plan since I saw the IPad was coming out several months ago.
KNIGHT RIDER RELOADED is a series of movies on Youtube to represent a different creative avenue to the Knight Rider we knew in 2008-09.

I have another idea with this technology, but it needs more time and money for me to build it
But when I finish it will be awesome, for me as a big kitt dash fan definitely :)

So my idea is to take the 3-4th season dash :dash4:
and make it funktional with touch screen boards
and take it to a whole new level :good:
So all the electronics gonna displayed with touch screen panels,
but they will look like and work like the original ones.
The coolest thing that from that point they can change screen any time
and provide different information by touching them 8)
Big project, but it will worth every cent and working hour

re:the iPad itself....

I remember GST saying that during research for the series they looked at various tech companies for upcoming products etc and wanted to push the envelope a bit....

My question is...

Do they use 'iPad style' devices in the SSC?

There are a few scenes where people have a portable tablet style device and use it to 'throw' things on to the main screen...

The tablets that they used in the SSC are probably use some similar technologies to the iPad, but can do things that the iPad can not hope to ever be able to do. Guess that is the perk of working for a top secret government program like Knight Industries.

MIKE: That’s fine. I don’t wanna drive anyway. I want a burger. Take me to a drive-thru.

Actually, in some episodes you can see a windows logo on the back of Billy and Zoe's monitors. If I can find an image, I will post it.

I already have my iPad ready to install into my KITT. Hopefully during the summer I will have a lot of updates.
