Knight Rider 2012 is the proposed release date of Glen's Motion Picture which is still in development. I would wager that a great deal of getting Knight Rider fast tracked into production is the success of the A-Team remake which I believe looks pretty promising so far.

Those are pretty cool! I like that! I'm guessing that is a new Camero, right? If it is, that is what they should use. Since, Pontiac went under.

Here's thought..now that Peter Graves is gone...why not have William Daniels play Wilton Knight?...then it makes even more sense why KITT sounds the way he does...????

I was thinking about Hal Holbrook as Wilton Knight. I do have to disagree on Paul Walker though. He's too much of a prettyboy for a black leather jacket. I would have to say Jeremy Renner. He did play a good role in SWAT and I would trust him to handle the role of Micheal Knight. As for KITT, I think the best Idea would be for Glen Larson to use a fan built replica. If this movie is going to be a remake of the first episode like I think it will be, the only way is to go with the original car. It would at least give pontiac a good excuse to start making the trans am again lol...

It won't happen. And Pontiac is dead, so we won't see new Trans Am.

UPDATE

The movie is in pre-production. The problem is The Weinstien Company which currently has claim on the movie rights does not have the resources or desire to make the motion picture materialize.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that the company is buried in financial hell. Their plans to renig on making Halloween 3D and other projects is not a coincidence. Nor is pushing back their last completed film, Piranha 3D. How they manage to continue to remain afloat is beyond me.

Because of this, an entirely new script has to be rewritten to pitch to a more competent studio each and every time a new studio gets attached to the project. Glen has declared stongly he wishes to see a Knight Rider motion picture happen in his lifetime (target date 2012) and he is dilligently working on what is now the 4th draft of the motion picture script.

Try to keep in perspective that each time you write a new script, you have to recreate your idea independent from the ideas of the last approach. This means Glen has had to recreate Knight Rider four seperate times from four seperate angles and still try to keep the original mythology elements in tact. He doesn't want to create a straight to dvd action flick with a bloated budget and no substance.

A-Team looks very promising and I have no doubts once it comes out and is successful, Hollywood will be knocking on Glen's door to make Knight Rider and fastrack it to the big screen along with other 80's properties stuck in development hell.

It sounds like a broken record excuse but it's the true reason why there is still no movie out.

I can only imagine how disheartening it is to have an idea all worked out only to have to completely abandon it. Can one now assume that the movie will no longer essentially be a remake of the Pilot episode?

I guess the Weinsteins' only hope is another Quentin Tarantino movie...

- Unfortunately that is correct, it will not be as close to Knight of the Phoenix as originally intended which is a real shame because the first script I thought was fantastic and unique - definately had blockbuster material and I was quite fond of it. However the new script will still have Michael Long getting shot in the face by Tanya, the car will still be shiny black with a roving red scanner in the grille, turbo boost, and the character names and traits will remain.

This is possible only because there is a specific list of expectations that are excluded from "what must change" every time Glen has to start over with a different approach so that the elements of the original mythology can still legally remain in tact from one studio to the next - otherwise let's face it, it wouldn't be Knight Rider.

What people need to realise is that in terms of movie production time frames a 2012 release, whilst looking in may seem forever, it's actually VERY quick!
