Re: My 3d KITT done in Maya!
Thank you guys! Yes it will be animated! Once i finish the model, i have to model the super pursuit mode version.
then, the background scenery. For the undercarriage I am using a 1:24 MPC kit car i have. I had to also do some inventing of my own with it, because that MPC kit is not assembled yet. The undercarriage is not 100% true to the original.... but did anybody ever saw the original? hahaha.
Thanks for your comment guys. It makes me keep going!

Re: My 3d KITT done in Maya!
Well.... i have been working on the body again. I finished the license plate but its not painted. I also did the trunk lid, the spoiler and the rear light. I also did minor changes here and there.
Ignore the black spots in the interior. That is caused by one of the effects in the rendering, and since this is a quick render. I wont bother to retouch it. I like how its coming along except for that hood. It still needs work.
KITT IS NOT YET ALIVE!!! and there is a lot of crime on those mountains (no wheels) hehehe.
enjoy!

For sure man (or woman. Im not sure with the name ilana, hehhee)! thanks for the comments (everyone). Yes.. that background in the pics suck. It was just a test render so i can locate the errors in the 3d mesh and see how is it coming along. I found a few. I want this to be flawless. I will not take anything less than perfection!!! hahaha.

I understand. I just thought about final [render]. Definitely, I am not able to make it so beautiful and so detailed. I found KITT's blueprints a few days ago. It would be interesting to make the model. But your work is just perfect!Wildbayres wrote:that background in the pics suck. Re: My 3d KITT done in Maya!
aaaaaaaaaawsome few suggestions bout wheels tho:
-smooth em rims out... lookin bit edgy
-make new tires... lil less offroad or paint em black maybe it'll make it look better... just dont like the pattern

Re: My 3d KITT done in Maya!
Looks really great model!
I'd like to see closeup of the tire pattern, perhaps it's made according to the one we often saw in KITT's monitor, for instance in KITTvsKARR when KITT was scanning the beach where KARR was found
The side view of the tires brings ERTL 1/18 KITT to my mind, looks good to me. Only in the closeup the "edgy" rims are visible but looking from a distance they look great.
Rear wheels camber angle needs some adjusting, now they seem to be almost in the same angle as the lower half of the body side panels = positive camber but the wheels should be of course stand straight in 0 degree camber.
Especially visible in this pic
The A-pillar may need some attention too, it's noticeably wider in the bottom end of the windshield and much narrower in the top, I believe it should be about the same thickness all the way. ERTL KITT has too thick A-pillar so this one must be modeled from referencephotos & screenshots I guess.

Re: My 3d KITT done in Maya!
First of all, thank you guys for the constructive critizism. Right now I am in th eprocess of moving, so I ll get back to my model asap. =) now... lets get to the answers.
THE RIMS: ... Yep!! They are horribly edgy. When i smooth the rims, the detail get distorted but I just came up with a way of smoothing without getting it to distord. So it will be fixed soon.
THE TIRES: Yes...!!! They are totally off road.. hahha . A friend pointed that out and I kinda fixed it, but i think I have to mulpiply the number of "rows", meaning I need a lot more detail. Its a work in progress, hehe, so i thank you for your comments.
I was not able to find accurate reference for the actual tire thread. So i just picked a random tire.
THE A PILLAR: I haven't noticed that before, but I'll look into it. thanks. I had a little hard time with it, because what looks good from one side, it doesn't from the other.
THE REAR WHEEL CAMBER: The rear wheels and rims are at a 0 degree angle. I used a 20 mm lens for the render and it kind of distords it a little in order to achieve a more aggresive perspective. But I can assure you, the wheels are straight. On some pics it should be visible, but I see what you are saying. It does look wierd. =)
For this model, my reference is about 100 different pics of Kitt, and the actual Trans Am. I only used a side pic for the blueprint and the front and back, I eyed it, and shaped it using reference pics until the shaped looked right.
For the third time... thank you guys. =)

Re: My 3d KITT done in Maya!
Also I forgot to mention. THE TIRES.... I will also texture the GOODYEAR EAGLE GT logos and fake some tire information to the tire wall. That will be done at the TEXTURING stage (colors, etc)
I also modeled the scanner but i couldnt get a good render of it. Will soon.
cheers!

Re: My 3d KITT done in Maya!
ell, I'm not so much in cars. For me the model looks great!
It's very detailed. I just wonder, is it difficult for your computer? I guess, my computer would definitelly slow down... The thing that always annoys me.
And... what about the driver???

Well.... no.. I made a computer about a year ago. It has 640 mb video card, 2.75 gis of ram (thanks to XP. I have 4 gigs installed, and it only uses 2.75 gigs)
So for this it runs very well.... for now...
The driver is drunk at some bar and eating a burger from the floor. lolol
