In all honesty, while the suggestions of known actors are good to play Michael Knight. I agree with the concensus that the role of Michael Knight should be casted to an unknown actor.

For the simple reason that they could make that role their own as a movie part. It worked for the late Christopher Reeve as Superman, and of course it launched David Hasselhoff's career.

Any well known established actor might look good on paper, but might not translate to well on film. And seriously, to whomever suggested Mark Wahlberg.....really? Someone like that? That's like suggesting Vanilla Ice to play Michael Knight.

aw no *shudders*. forget I said that. Paul Walker?? No. Not right for the role, plus he evidently turned down the role.

Although, I think it would be interesting if Justin was picked to reprise his role. I don't think he would be cast, but it would be a nice thought.

In my opinion, the right person to play 21st Century Michael Knight would have to be someone like David, but a little edgier, grittier, more sarcastic and take more risks- yet still have the same kind of dedication and heart as Hasselhoff's portrayal. And of course, being a friend to KITT as well as his partner.

As for the role of KITT- that's a topic for another time.

Knight Rider can´t be remade... it needs to continue... David Hasselhoff must be Michael Knight... always.

And this is an idea...

KNIGHT HEROES - My fanfiction

If New Knight Rider continue… or a movie be made. I was thinking about a possibility of a cool history. And If DH don´t be involved in the hole serie… would be very cool if, at least, Michael Knight appear in only one episode, just to die. I explain…
We have talked about to see KARR again. Imagine the KARR´s cpu installed in the Goliath´s body… it would be a real Megatron in this situation… so, in a decisive moment Michael Knight and the KI2T, involved in this episode, decides to sacrifice themselves to save Mike and the 3000… that would be a way to stop our suffering to see DH comes back to participate… and at least once more time we´d see our great heroes, MK and KI2T ( in the trans-am ).

Mike and KI3T are arrested in somewhere.
To get them Michael and KI2T need to battle Goliath/KARR. FLAG reactivate 2000 and call MK.

Parcial dialogue:
KITT: Michael, maybe we don´t survive, you don´t survive... now KARR is much more powerful than that one we meet in the past.

Michael: I know KITT, but my sun is there with your successor, we need to do something.

KITT: I´m with u Michael... but I need to request u something, if we don´t survive in all this I don´t want to be reactivated, send a message to FLAG, to Sarah, say her that if it happens to don´t reactivate me again, I can´t exist without you Michael, we are a team. Say her she will be free to backup all my datas, for future research, but I don´t want to be reactivated.

Michael : Ok pal, u´ll be listened, call her.

( sorry for my poor english, I hope u understand )

Another options would be....
jeanclaudeVanDamme28.jpg
Then there is my serious choice...
jason-statham-20061012-168235.jpg

Snoop Dogg would be cursing at K.I.T.T. throughout the movie, Van-Damme is just not suited for the franchise of Knight Rider at all and Jason Statham would make a good villain for Knight Rider because Jason Statham is more of an anti-hero type rather than a "heroic knight" that David Hasselhoff displayed in TOS. Justin Bruening did a decent of job of carrying the mantle of Michael Knight and I think that he could still be utilized to remain as Michael Knight if Glen A. Larson were reboot the story of Knight Rider for the motion picture.
The only thing that needs to be established is that the film is in "No Way Of Any Connection To KR08" and that the only connection is does have to TOS is that the story is being retold in the same vein as James Bond & Batman.

And I think that when casting the role of Devon, I think that Roger Rees would be an excellent choice because he did portray a techhead in M.A.N.T.I.S. the tv series and he can also be funny like he was in Robin Hood: Men In Tights.

I think Tom Welling would make a cool Michael Knight, as would Justin Bruening. There's also Kerr Smith,
Daniel Cosgrove. Paul Walker is a maybe, but he might have to color his hair. The Hoff played the role
well, but he's older now. Jensen Ackles is a possibility.

Joshua Jackson reminds me of David for some reason. I think he would make a great Micheal Knight.

A lot of people would say Ben Affleck because of Gigli, but personally I would like to have an actor who kinda looks similar to Hasslehoff. I thought of Superman Returns Brandon Routh at first, but something didn't click....I'd say for a Micheal Knight..........um.....some reason I could see Ryan Seacrest . He got the look.....somehow. As for KITT's Voice....without a shadow of doubt Rob Scheinder. His accent reminds me of the original KITT.

Henry Cavill, the Brit guy WB got to play Superman. Check out some pics of the guy.
He's got a near uncanny resemblence to the Hoff when he was younger. I really don't
care that he's British. Tom Welling still would be a good pick, as would Justin Bruening.
But Cavill has the best chance if you wanna get someone who looks like the Hoff.

I'd really rather it not be a full reboot. I'd want Hoff as MK with the new guy being his replacement, whatever the relationship might be.

I see a couple of critical components to "Michael Knight":

1. Charm - that irrepressible charm with the winks and smile and can pull off tacky pick up lines
2. Bravado - the supernatural confidence that one guy can actually change the world
3. Humor - MK has to be funny without being a joke; he's got to be able to be just a tiny bit of cheesy without breaking the seriousness
4. Buttkicking - has to be fit and a physical presence in the fight scenes
5. Looks - good looking but not "pretty" and a little rugged; don't really care about hair color that much but needs to be a bit hairy

I don't see Mark Wahlberg or Paul Walker as MK because they simply aren't charming or funny without being goofy. Ben Affleck was horrible as Daredevil; lesson learned. Vince Vaughn would make MK a joke. He can't handle the physicality and It'd be just look like a parody gone wrong. I don't see Alex O'Laughlin either. He's not charming or funny. He just gets by on his looks.

I wonder about Tom Welling's comedic range and bravado - seeing as his Superman is kinda whiny and dull. He's certainly good looking enough and is fit enough to handle the fights. The fact that people will look at him and see Superman is a bit of a negative.

Henry Cavill is an interesting suggestion. I like that he does have that bit of MK look. How he handles Superman will tell me a lot about him. He's Superman now though, so we can't have that.

Bradley Cooper is fairly compatible. Had a solid charming action turn in A Team. He's off-putting to a lot of guys though.

Justin Bruening was solid as Mikey Jr. He fits all of the criteria pretty well from his protrayal. We still haven't seen enough from him to know if he can handle a starring movie role. That and no name recognition hurts his chances. I would support this choice nevertheless.

Jensen Ackles also fits the critera quite well. Charm, bravado, sense of humor, action, he's done all of that and can even pull off a leather jacket. He can do jokes in a serious situation without breaking the scene. He's not quite as rugged looking and has a bit of a babyface but it would be a solid pick. Just enough name but not too big that'll overshadow the role.

Michael Weatherly is an interesting pick. His fits 1-3 pretty well, as Tony Dinozzo is pretty much in the MK mold. Very charming, very brash and confident, very funny yet serious. He's even got a little hair on his chest. If he put some time in the gym, I could see him as MK.

Brandon Routh would be an interesting choice, loved him in Scott Pilgram vs The World.

There are many actors out there just waiting to be discovered so my guess they'd go for someone who shows great promise who could make the role their own.

Be very interesting to see when the day comes as to who will be the new guy.
