This week's Time Magazine has a short interview with David Hasselhoff about his SpongeBob appearance, and they ask about the Knight Rider movie. No real news, but it's good to see them mention it:

Did your kids talk you into this?
I took this role specifically because my kids said 'Oh my God, Dad, you have to do it.' I was like What's the big hoopla about SpongeBob?

Whose body is more inherently buoyant, SpongeBob's or Pamela Anderson's?
SpongeBob's buoyancy rivals Pamela's.

Did you get to keep the 750-lb Hasselhoff replica made for the film's special effects, or did that go straight to the Smithsonian?
I'm deciding what to do with it. Right now my kids say we should use it as a mailbox.

What's going on with the Knight Rider movie?
It's still in development. There is such a cult following all around the world. I even hung out at Kensington Palace with some of the Royal family's kids because they're all Knight Rider fans.

What do you think of men who wax their chests?
Guys used to come to the (Baywatch) set all the time with no chest hair, and they just looked like drowned rats to me. I like to be like SpongeBob and go au naturel.

What's your TV guilty pleasure?
The History Channel. I find that riveting.

And you feel guilty about that?
I don't feel guilty about anything.

Bad answer from David if you ask me since he's been in and out of rehab a couple of times due to his alcohol addiction (and people know this of course, courtesy of the media). People could have been more symphathetic to him if he acknowledged his weaknesses instead of pretending to be invulnerable. But that's just my opinion I guess.

Keep in mind that this was pretty much a "fluff piece". I wouldn't look too deeply into his answer. David HAS fully acknowledged his weakness numerous times, and doesn't need to bring it up during every interview. I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt- you can be remorseful without feeling guilty.

I definitely see the irony in what he said though... an unfortunate coincidence.

I thought it was pretty obvious that he wasn't being serious.

Point taken guys, I guess David was just clowning around at that time.

You'd have to wonder if "The Hoff" frequented these forums and has seen our ideas for the movie and therefore collecting his own thoughts..

It would be nice to think that he's taking the suggestions and ideas from fans who know the show intimately.

The Hoff does drop by every now and then, but its his busy schedule that's keeping him from staying and posting. I'm sure he enjoys reading all the stuff that's in here, after all...HE is Knight Rider. :)
