Hasselhoff's Star on Hollywood Walk-Of-Fame

Post by Michael Pajaro » Sat Oct 30, 2004 2:03 am

I've been cleaning, coming up with old stuff. This is a photo of David Hasselhoff receiving his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame about 8 years ago. I was at the ceremony, but I did not take this photo; I purchased it at a souvenir shop in Hollywood a couple years ago.

It was mainly a "Baywatch" day, but David specifically said in his speech that none of "this" could have been possible if it wasn't for Knight Rider. Glen Larson and Patricia McPherson were there to cheer him on.

Pretty cool photo with the cast around. Would also be nice if KITT's tire treads were to grace the boulevard too.

I agree on both! :) I would love to see KITT's tire treads on there or a Star for William Daniels anyway (to show his achievement not just in Knight Rider but other things he's done). But also KITT's tire treads. :)

I wonder how we could advocate to get KITT a Star on Hollywood? I'd love to see that. :)

The celebrities must be nominated by fans, and the physical stars get paid for by the fans (I think it's a couple thousand dolalrs). Studios/agents/etc. are not allowed to contribute, although there may be some back-door dealings going on. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce approves around 1-2 stars a month. I think the time may have passed to get KITT a star, unless the movie does really, REALLY well.

Godzilla is getting a star next week.

There will always be a possibility of KITT having his own star. If R2D2 of Star Wars has a star, then so will KITT have his own one day :D

KITT should have gotten one first, as far as I am concerned. Even though Star Wars came out first.

I can't see how Gozilla, who's older than KITT can get a star but KITT's time past? I'm rather confused. I can only hope. Maybe the DVD sales might help, especially if Universal releases the other 3 seasons?

What do you feel about non organic things getting stars? Hasselhoff is one thing.. but R2D2? It just seems like that line of reality is stretched a little. I'm not saying I wont think its cool as hell if KITT gets one, but still.

Neps, you do have a point there that I never thought of. As the stars on Hollywood were originally to recognize the fame and popularity of actors and actresses. Maybe they should open a special separate walk (or drive?) for star cars and robots? :)

Good question...I suppose they're gonna clear a whole city block just to accomodate his footprint. If not, a fingerprint will do...it will probably still take up a huge portion of the sidewalk though

Maybe they'll just have to settle for the pinkie toe-print. ;)

There are two different honors in Hollywood... The first is the Star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame, which is basically a sidewalk tile with a big star on it, the name of the celebrity, and and icon showing if their contribution was for Film, TV, radio, or theater. You can have different stars for different mediums. The second, more rare honor is to have footprints in the cement in front of the Chinese Theater.

Hasselhoff just has a star. Godzilla is just getting a star. R2-D2, C3PO, and Darth Vader have their feet in cement.

Well then, if R2D2 and C3PO both have their footprints in Hollywood, so should KITT have his tireprints there. It's a good thing Godzilla is getting just a star, his footprint will probably demolish all existing ones in front of the theatre
