What feature would you like to see in the NEW KITT?

Post by MrPayner » Fri Oct 15, 2004 5:12 am

Hi All..

I have just been reading the topic relating to the motion picture and upon reading the quoted post...
Lost Knight wrote:They went into the future in these movies before...I think it's safe to say they will stick to the present or make it in the future. The idea of making the car more futuristic and hi-tech is just too tempting and logical to pass up for a retro-comedic movie like Starsky & Hutch. If you had the choice of what to do with a hi-tech supercar, would you decide to go into the past or lean towards the future?

.. i got thinking..

What NEW EXTRA features would you like to see in the new KITT?
- Obviously everything from the Two Thousand can be included into the Three Thousand [or whatever it may be called] like Turbo Boost, Ski Mode, Analysers, Scanners, Micro Jamming, Ejection Seats, Surveillance Mode, Stealth Mode, Inflatable Tyres, SPM, etc etc etc..

It would have a similar voice modulator, and not that dodgy Oscilliscope [only good for WinAMP] example from KR2000.. all bonded together in a sleek black shell brimming with the latest circuitry.. Maybe something similar to the following attached image?? [just with a shorter nose!]

Image

This is for new features only!!

So let me throw up the first suggestions...

- Submersible Mode [i know.. it's very 007.. ] :P
- Real Time DNA Sampling [remote link to the backbone of every conceivable database]
- Complex Analysis on Forensic evidence [more so than the original series]

Happy thinking!

Regards
Adam

[PS, this could be sticky if popular! ]

* An occupant ejection system that doesn't look as if it would break the legs of the driver or front-seat passenger

* A cup holder

* Visible "real-world" car dashboard features, like air conditioning/heating vents and radio

(Sorry, couldn't resist.) :)

Hmmm...

Stun gun (aka KR2000 movie)

KITT more sociable with people around him, more sentiant AI (ie. his personality developed more so he would be able to conduct his OWN interrigations at will).

RFID tracker (Radio Frequency ID is real technology - a very tiny chip now appearing on some products on some stores to track where the product actually goes when removed from the shelf. There's been some privacy concerns about this technology as well, so I hear).

(Don't know if he had this already) The ability to knock people out temporarily from within the car using gases.

On-board cell phone

Holographic projection system which could, say, produce an image of a person, and KITT would also be able to control what the hologram says. Maybe even be able to project Michael himself if needed. KITT would be able to project just about anyone, really. Would be a neat feature if not overused.

I think K.I.T.T. did actually have the internet in a few ways, or at least the idea of it, since obviously it hadn't been invented yet at the time. He was always able to upload/download information from limitless sources and tap into data bases, ect.

Anyway, those are pretty cool ideas you guys have come up with so far.
FuzzieDice- I like your idea of the hologram system in particular, reminds me of the Virtual Reality Mode that the Knight 4000 had (what was ever wrong with actual reality?), but I think the hologram idea works much better.

As for any ideas to what the new car should have, I'd have to think about it and will post them when I come up with some.

Since I'm still new to the board and haven't gotten to read all the post, I don't know too much about the new movie. Is there any talk Kitt will be a 2005 model transam or will he be the old Kitt from the 80s?

Hello Knight Girl. I haven't had the opportunity to welcome you to the board yet. So Welcome. If I understood the quote right from a recent David Hasselhoff interview, there will be two cars in the movie. Michael's original car and his son's new car. the quote im speaking about is, when asked about what car we'd see in the movie David replied cryptically, "A new car, and the same car." Do you interpret that the same way?

Hey Nick

I'm not sure who's car that is or who is in the photo.. I "borrowed" it from the Knight Registries or KRFoundation [the one with the Knight National pics and screen caps of episodes] There is another pic on there as well that i quite like..

Nice ideas everyone.. keep them coming!

Lost Knight - Thanks. :)

I know... streamer stuff like that stuff you spray out of cans at a party... just for kicks. ;) Gotta let KITT have some fun once in awhile, too ya know.

Or maybe something to shoot nets or something to capture criminals with. That's something I didn't see in the original series.

One thing I'd like to see them do with the new K.I.T.T. is realize some of the original functions in a new way. I think we could see the Passive Laser Restraint System activated with some cool effects around the driver, and turbo boosts without miniatures (and hopefully without CGI).

I'd also like to see them integrate a heads-up display in the windshield, similar to Knight Rider 2000. In spite of that, they must keep the interior of the car similar to the original K.I.T.T. -- lots of flashing lights and gauges, digital readouts, buttons etc. I think that's part of where "2000" went wrong.

I interpret that quote a different way, as in I think he meant that there is one car that is brand new, yet it will have many familiar features reminiscent of the Trans Am.

Knight Girl- The Trans Am had been discontinued in 2002 along with its sister car, the Chevy Camaro. But I agree that integrating K.I.T.T. into a 2002 Trans Am would be pretty cool as I've talked about on another thread.

For those that care, there's a site called Save The F-Body where they are petitioning Pontiac to bring back the Trans Am, Camero and other F-Body cars. :)

My apologies to forgetting who here posted that before... I THINK I read about it on these boards....?

This is Rob Louisell's (AKA God father of Knight Rider conversion cars) Banshee nose that he made for fourth gens Pontiacs. You can get it with the scanner bar cut out or without.

The latest Trans Am body that KITT could be in, would be 2002. General Motors announced it would indeed end production of both the Firebird and Camero in early January of 2002. But there is and has been talk of a new Firebird and Camero coming out in 2007. Also known as the heritage.

Laser Restraint System

Post by midniterider » Sat Oct 16, 2004 5:33 pm

I've never understood that concept. How can a laser restrain you in a car seat? :?

Oh PLEASE PLEASE I hope they don't do to it what they did to the GTO.

2007? I hope so. I guess I gotta start saving some pennies. ;)

I think it would be funny for KITT to be distracted by searching for items on ebay. Say, bowling ball hubcaps or an led scanner. Something that would have roots to the original series.

On a side note, with the Firebird gone I think they should use something newer, and not a KR 2 FAST 2 FURIOUS car, but something with some power and style. Like maybe a new Mustang..... or better yet a Ferrari ?
