New show makes fun of Knight Rider

Post by JJSoCrazy » Mon Aug 02, 2004 12:03 am

On Comedy Central, late night on Adult Swim is a show called Stroker and Hoop. It's these 2 guys who have a talking car named C.A.R.R. and has a similar voice to K.I.T.T. but with an attitude and loves to talk back. By watching the show you can easily see how it is a Knight Rider Ripoff

Check It Out!

First off, thanks jj for telling us about this!

Now then, for the show itself.... um... yeah... Not really my thing. The openning credits are much cooler than the show itself (which isn't saying much.

Openning credits: 1.8 MB

Here's a short clip so you can hear "C.A.R.R.'s voice. The voice is by Paul Christie, a new voice actor as far as I can tell from imdb.

Just by looking at the pictures I can tell that is is just a rip off. Not only that but, I don't fancy watching a cartoon about knight Rider that is that cheesy. But If they woiuld come out with a night rider cartoon - that was somewhat close to the show then I would be happy to watch it.

It's more of a spoof than a rip-off. It's not trying to pretend it's something new.

To me that is just as bad. A spoof is just as bad as a rip off because it is imitaing the original - weather it wants to or not. Either way - I don't care for it at all.

Some of the funniest movies and TV show episodes ever made are spoofs. Airplane... Young Frankenstein... Dozens of Simpsons episodes... Don't hate a show you haven't seen because it's borrowing from Knight Rider. Watch it, then hate it simply because it's stupid.

(It's not an entirely bad show, it's just trying too hard to be cool and edgy and it seems forced.)

As far as I was concerned - VIPER was a show that was like a knockoff of Knight Rider and I LOVED that show. I just don't like shows that do a piss poor job of imitating a show that was so popular. Viper - to me was a parody of Knight Rider - but yet not. I loved that show. I just hate cheesy shows.

Yeah, that cartoon also is a spoof of Starsky and Hutch, also has the same initials from Starsky and Hutch. Also the car is red or orange just like like the Ford Torino and it also has the design on the side, only its black as oppose to white.

The show is really funny when I saw it, and I would like to know if someone would be able to tell me when will it be on to watch again? And if you can get me the whole episode?

Thanx

Hey, that's my last name! Thank goodness I'm not in the business of making roadkill, though.

I don't think I'd like this particular one.

Its not all that good, but not too bad. I think I will watch it because I find C.A.R.R. misbehaving funny. Meh, thats my small take on it.

lol, sounds funny!

I don't think it's directly trying to immitate Knight Rider or Starsky; if you watch any show on Adult Swim you'll know that they're just being stupid and getting laughs. I think they're taking a few ideas (a few very obvious ideas lol) from a few shows and having fun with 'em - not actually riping off. But I haven't seen the show so my judgement might be a poor one :P
