Was KITT/KARR ever air-conditioned?

Post by imranbecks » Thu May 06, 2004 9:12 am

All cars are fitted with air-conditioners these days... KITT and KARR had the custom dashboard with all the data and computers.. But did they have air-conditioning? I can't spot any air-con vents in the car.. How did Michael survive with all the windows close.....

And what about people who have a KITT/KARR replica.... where does the air-conditioning come from? If any...

They did. It was called ITC (Interior Temperature Control).

same way he survived always wearing a black leather coat over a long sleeve button up shirt, tight dark jeans and cowboy boots in CALIFORNIA

lol... those are really good questions imranbacks... KITT and KARR had the ITC but outside of the series it sounds like no A/C fo' them... and KITT and KARR replicas, I dunno, they're usually for show so A/C wouldn't be an issue... unless you wanted KITT on the road, then you better hope you can work around the dash, or move somewhere with relatively cool summers!

Sometimes in the show, David Hasselhoff drove KITT with all the windows closed..... and it was usually or always summer time during filming. Damn, it must be really humid in the car with all the windows closed in that hot weather...

KARR tried to cook poor Mandy in KITT vs. KARR, and KITT used sub-zero to try and freeze the little "kitten" in Knight in Retreat, so I'd say they have some pretty hard-core heaters and air-conditioning!

The replica cars leave the air conditioning in. Some people sometimes re-route the ducts to blow out under the dash. Some just leave it and say it still cools the car down, just not as well since...yeah the vents are being blocked.

At the very end of 'Buy Out' when the woman makes an offer to KITT for 20,000 dollars he laughs it off and also adds that he is air conditioned. straight from the horses mouth, or knight 2000's voice modulator however you wanna look at it, lol

In the episode Knight Song when Michael and RCIII are stuck in a traffic jam, Michael starts to complain about the traffic and RCIII calms Michael by explaining how they are in an air conditioned car listening to a live practice of Charley Conners...

as vampire knight mentioned that some replica owners reroute the vents below the dash, that could be exactly where they would be located on KITT. I'm sure KITT would have some superadvanced top secret cooling unit, that the location of the vents would not be limited by the power of the system.
