Knight Rider: Season One DVD Box Set CONFIRMED!
I am delighted to bring this awesome news to you. I was contacted last week by a company contracted by Universal Studios to release the first season of Knight Rider on DVD. I spoke with a producer out in California and they are flying out to interview me in the next week or so...I guess as a bonus feature! He and I discussed what extra features the fans would love to see and I pointed him in the right directions. Glen Larson and David Hasselhoff are both onboard to provide commentary. They are currently working on getting other people as well. He also told me that he dug through Universal's archives and found a bunch of never-before-released photos that he will work into the DVDs as well. As far as a release date - he says that this project is on the front burner and should be for sale later this year. If it sells well...we can look forward to each season on DVD before long! At this point, there's not much more that I can tell you...but at long last, Knight Rider IS coming to DVD! Please do not e-mail me with questions; when I have more news, I will post it here!

Thanks Joe for making my day.....just a small question (I know you said not to e-mail you) but is this just for the US (region 1) or will this also come out via Universal Playback in the UK.
Thanks again

The box set will start in the U.S., but will be overseas soonafter, as I understand it.
Yes, if the first season goes well, we can expect each season released!

I'm glad I could bring everyone such great news! As part of the agreement, I am getting an advanced copy of the DVD set, so I will definately report on it here.
Here's an idea:
Why doesnt everyone post ideas on this forum for extra features they'd like to see? You have until Friday; I'll compile the list and forward it to the appropriate person!

YES, YES, YES!!!!!
Don't worry, knight rider uk, we got the 'Starsky and Hutch' boxset already so we'd probably get the KR set pretty quick too.
I'm not too bothered cos i'll be ordering the region 1 set since i have a multi-region player anyway.
The set definetely needs a tribute to E.Mulhare as 'knight rider uk' pointed out.
The commentary that Joe pointed out, sounds enough, even for me.
I guess it'll only be for the pilot but that's the most important episode of the series.

Joe, are the episodes on the DVD going to be the uncut originals from NBC? If not, that would be an extra that I am pretty sure will be unanimously wanted by all the members of the board. Am I right everybody?
I am glad to see all the motion picture companies have discovered that they were sitting on a fortune in the 80's TV shows on DVD market, and that they are putting them out left and right now. I was also estatic when I heard that the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Season 1 Set (1987) is coming out next month on the 20th. I am going to be broke between buying that, KR, Stargate SG-1, Star Trek Voyager, and Family Guy. This is the ultimate on-demand TV.

Yes, the episodes will be the uncut originals, as they aired on NBC. I'm going to double check with Universal when I talk to them next to make sure that they include the episode teasers as well. Who knows - maybe they'll even dig up some unaired footage! He and I both want this to include as much extra stuff as possible.

Does it really matter. Get yourself a cheap multi-region DVD player and buy the R1 DVDs from the hundreds of online stores. I'm not going to wait for the UK release, as soon as amazon.com or the other online stores have it, I'm buying it....simple as that.knight rider uk wrote:bet thats one dvd boxx set that we wont see in england till about 3 years after it comes out in america still hopefully it will be quicker then that perhaps and my idea for a extra on teh disc would be a tribute to edward mulhare perhaps-- kr s1 dukes s1 and the a team s1 comeing to dvd im going to be skint at this rate!
