Super Pursuit Mode and Rear Window (not Hitchcock!)
Since there seem to be so few good photos or screen captures of KITT in super pursuit mode, I've never been able to figure out what happens to the rear window when KITT changes from cruise mode to super pursuit mode. The spoiler rises up several inches, but the hatch also seems to open with some framework underneath it. Does the hatch basically just open somewhat, and does the car just have extra "meat" beneath the hatch to contain the "boosters?" Wouldn't there be an "air gap" between the rear window and the driver's compartment? How does all that work?

probably the SAME way they got all the SPM extras in the car ALONG with the glass t-tops, hard steel support bars and rear glass window in KITTs convertible mode : ) MAGIC!!
same way whenever Mike pops the t-top to jump out onto a helicopter or something, the glass magically dissapears in the follwing camera angle

Hi Knight Industries 3000:
K.I.T.T. did have "sides" to fill in the gap once SPM was activated. The hatch lifted up slightly and where there would normally be a gap, there are pieces of sheet metal. Check out the pics below:
