I Have just watched "Knight of the Phonenix" agian and I have never noticed until now that Wilson is talking into his watch.
At least that is what it look's like
maybe this was where the idea for Micheal's comlink came from??
Sorry if this has been talked about before I haven't noticed any thread's for it, but then agian it took me 22 years to notice it at all

The talking to the watch thing has been around for a very long time, secret service agents used watch communicators back in the Kennedy era. Dick Tracy had his watch communicator. So basically, the commlink was one of those items that they snuck in there that had already existed. Admittedly, the commlink did more than just be a two way radio, however.

As I thought... The commlink was a good idea. But I have seen MK use the commlink when he is a meter awat from KITT... That was in Knight of a Thousand Devils. KITT must be able to hear a bit better then that... In Murchants of Death. He says he is reading screaming from inside the plane. About 20 meters away. Why is this?

Has anyone else pretended that you talk to your watch?

I did once when I went to target and someone saw me do that.

So, did FLAG install their Comlink into Michael Long's original watch?

Just kidding.

He never spoke to KITT in the pilot. He had a watch that is now the comlink, but he never used it as one. If he did, what part of pilot did he use it?

He used the comlink in the beginning to talk to his partner Muntzy I believe. (when he was still Michael Long)

I would guess that that was some sort of police radio, since he wasn't with the Foundation yet, at that point.

This isn't canon, but I'll throw it out anyway. In the novels, the Comlink made it's first appearance in the Trust Doesn't Rust novel. I'm sure that wasn't the case with the episodes though. He must have used the Comlink before that.

Semi-off topic...but an interesting fact...

When I used to go to the flea markets, they sold these wrist watches that doubled as radios. So, the tech is in existance.
