There have been a number of these so-called UP cassettes sold on eBay, such as this:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... egory=1161

And I was one of the suckers to fall for it, and purchase it, as it is of poor quality. It did allow me to see the syndication cuts that I didn't remember as a kid though, which was pretty neat...

TDR was a direct copy of the CH VHS (they even left the CH logos on the recording, real bright), and KvK was recorded from NBC at some point in the 80s, since it has the NBC logo on it. So it was in fact copied from TV, which the ad so foolishly denies. You can see that the UP logo was just taken from a different UP video... The box that came with it was the same but had a homemade back to it showing TDR and KvK.

86chvs10, Please email me personally about purchasing them as I've asked and I will be more than happy to answer any questions you might have...

I just called Columbia House today and they told me that they were out of them and that I'd receive a letter when they are back in stock....YEAH RIGHT. I hate the run around that CH gives you...they've told me that I would receive a letter everytime I called for the last year....UGH.

KITT vs KARR is not on DVD or VHS. I think most of the problem with the episode clearance has to do with the songs in it.

The episodes that fans want the most have problems with song clearances.

We all like Whitebird, but the song itself was barely cleared the first time by Don Peake and he has admitted the rights to the song are very hard to get when we spoke in August 2002. That goes double for Let It Be Me and triple for Scent of Roses (though I hear Carpenters songs can be tough as well).

You never know what artist might hold up rights to a particular episode. Prince's When Doves Cry for instance from Dead of Knight is a main reason why that episode is not released. Certain artists make it very hard to use their material at all.

KITT vs KARR has Cruel Summer, Self Control and Jump (For My Love). Often the writers of the songs have final say on what it would take to secure permission and where the royalty would go.

As for DVD 15 of the Columbia House I doubt that exists because Let It Be Me has not been released on VHS by CH nor has A Good Knights Work. Would love someone to show me DVD 15 to show whether or not its really a release or not.

Spyhunter I have the original NBC version of KITT vs KARR from NBC and NBC did not put logos on the bottom of the screen back in 1984 when it aired. The logo thing on the bottom was an invention of the 90's, not the 80's.

I collect other series on CH and they do not have logos on the bottom either. So I dont know where you are getting your information from.

Speaking of DVD sets. I just came across a very suspicious auction on ebay. This seller is selling the entire series on DVD, but claims its "the real deal" and not a copied set. Further more, this seller has a zero feedback record. Hmm. :\

Well, you can tell they are lying if their fingers did the typing. ;) Since the entire series hasn't been released officially on DVD...ya take it from there.

Also this seller claims to have ten of these 'official' sets available (thats an awful lot of money the seller must have put out to obtain that many if its official ). I wouldn't be surprised if whoever bought this set doesn't get what they paid for.

Thanks for the info Richie.

When I said logos, I meant logos before and after the shows, not on the bottom corner of the screen while the show was playing.

Here is Volume 15, I was suprised myself to receive it since these episodes are not yet available on VHS, maybe they plan to stop producing new VHS volumes?

I finally got to see the song "Let It Be Me" in the episode of the same name.

I stand corrected. Its interesting that they have put out both episodes. That makes every episode of the 2nd season available and ready for purchase here in the United States.

Spyhunter, how long did it take to get to Vol 15 of your collection?

Yep, every 2nd season episode out now on DVD, it's just too bad that they are scattered across 11 discs...

For me after Volume 5, they took forever to send them to me, so I ended up ordering them directly from CH using the phone number listed at the beginning of this post and my membership number, and even then I only ended up with Vol. 15 on December 31, 2003. I lost count of all of the times I tried to order every volume via phone and email, and even trying to order the whole set at once. They make it nearly impossible. It's like they don't want to make money or something...

I am looking for compilations with the following episodes-

Season 1
Knights of the Phoenix
Deadly Maneuvers
Not a drop to drink

No Big Thing
Trust Doesn't Rust
Inside Out
Knight Moves

Season 2
Goliath
Merchants of death/Brother's Keeper
Knightmares

Speed Demons
Mouth of the Snake
Big Iron

Season 3
KITT v/s KARR
Knight in Disgrace
Knight of the Chameleon/Knight by a Nose
Junk Yard Dog

Buy Out
Knightlines
Knight Strike/Circus Knight
Halloween Knight

Season 4
Sky Knight
Burial Ground/Knight Sting
Many Happy Returns
Knight Racer

Killer KITT
Deadly Knightshade
Redemption of a Champion
Fright Knight/Out of the woods

This list is quite unusual, since some episodes are not available, such as Knight Moves and Big Iron, but if anyone knows of official compilations such as on Playback or Columbia House, do let me know. Something other than groups like Thistle Hill Media will do; I don't want to watch any commercials!

I don't think Spyhunter is selling anything other than some extra copies he has... he's just mostly providing information about what he has recieved and dealt with in the past.

People on Knight Rider forums don't discuss episodes like "Knight Moves" and "Big Iron" very often. That's what makes them unusual choices in that list. Likewise, some forum favourites are not in that list.

I bought that VHS tape of TDR and KvK that people are saying is fake.

TDR looks pretty good, KvK's quality is poor, but good enough since there isn't a real version out there.

I hate to say this, but sometimes the only way to get the episodes you want the most is to buy them off of ebay, even if they were taped off of tv.

The quality may be poor, but you at least have the episode.
