Fan Fic - Season 2 Episode 2 - Flying Knight

The night air was cool as Mike and KITT approached the car park where their adversaries were. KITT was making no noise so as not to alert people of their presence.

Mike: KITT what is our ETA?
KITT: Less than 30 seconds.

As KITT reaches the car park gun fire explodes from all around.

KITT: Michael we are under fire from all sides
Mike: KITT what are our options we've got to secure this package.
KITT: There is a wall 100 meters to our west which you could use as cover.
Mike: Ok KITT drop me off there and then be my distraction.

KITT speeds towards the wall.
Mike jumps out and gets behind the low wall.

Mike: KITT the distraction isn't working they are shooting this wall to pieces.

Suddenly one of the SUV'S being used by the bad guys explodes.

KITT: Michael I am picking up what appears to be a fast attack jet on my radar
Mike: What direction is it coming from?
KITT: East
Mike: What is it's altitude?
KITT: 20 feet above ground level
Mike: That is impossible no jet could fit between those buildings.
KITT: It appears to have just broken the sound barrier
Mike: This guy is insane
KITT: Michael you are not going to believe this but closed circuit camera feeds in the area just picked up a helicopter gun ship approaching.
Mike: KITT are you sure?
KITT: I am positive.
Mike: But no helicopter can break the speed of sound or even get close.

Suddenly a sound like a wolf's howl is heard

Mike: KITT what was that?
KITT: I am unsure there is nothing in my databases about it.

Suddenly the car park is bombarded by explosive shells but the helicopter is still not visible.

Mike: KITT how far away is it?
KITT: It will be visible to you any second now.

A ghostly sound is heard as the charcoal grey and pearl helicopter comes into view.
The helicopter landing gear is lowered as the machine touches down in the middle of the car park.

[Knight94]

Mike: What the crap is that thing?!

KITT: Michael, it appears to be some sort of specially armed helicopter gunship.

Mike: Scan it, KITT, and tell me what ya get.

KITT: Scanning now. Michael, there is nothing in my database or anywhere in Knight Research files pertaining
to the helicopter.

Mike: Can't be, buddy. There's gotta be something somewhere about that thing.

KITT: I have nothing on it, Michael. It is as if helicopter in question does not exist.

[My_Friend_KITT]

"KITT!" Mike yelled from behind the bullet-ridden wall. "To He%# with identifying the Stupid thing! Use the EMP!"

KITT quickly calculated the risks and the vulnerabilty of the UFO and came up with a negative effect. "Michael, it is impervious to my EMP."

Mike crouched down lower as another heavy assault of gunfire rained down on the slowly failing cinderblock wall. "KITT! Options?!"

KITT: I have calculated all possible outcomes and all of them result in your death so your best bet would be to surrender.
Mike: KITT are you being serious? You are.

Inside the helicopter
Man sitting in back of helicopter: String I think we've shot at him enough now. I doubt he will fire on us.
Stringfellow Hawke: Ok Dom take her out of combat mode.
Dominic Santini: Sure thing. Chain guns and ADF pods closing.

Back to mike
KITT: Michael the UFO has appeared to stop firing and they have stowed their weapons.
Mike: Ok KITT i am going to approach the helicopter.

A door opens on the helicopter and a man about the same height as mike steps out.

Mike: Who are you?
String: My name is Stringfellow Hawke and this is my friend Dominic Santini.
Mike: Ok and what on earth is that thing?
String: That..Thing... Is Airwolf. A mach 1 plus attack helicopter designed in secret by The Firm.
Mike: And who are The FIrm?
String: The firm are an anti terror group within the CIA but Airwolf is the only one of it's kind in existence. It's creator Dr Charles Henry Moffet went mad and killed the secretary of defence and took Airwolf to Libia where me and Dom stole her back and will only give her back to the firm when they find my Brother Sinjin who disappeared during the Afghanistan war. Airwolf started life as a Bell 222B corporate helicopter which she was until 2006 when She was acquired by the firm as a base for a new development. She is designed to be left among normal helicopters which is where the name Airwolf comes from. The term a wolf in sheep's clothes applies.

[Knight94]

Santini: We've let you in on our little secret, kid. You wanna return the courtesy and tell us about the car there?
What's with the red lights going back and forth on the hood? That some kinda UFO or something?

Hawke: Dom's right, what is up with the ride you've got? That some kinda special supercar? What's
the caper?

Mike: Yeah, it is a very special ride. If ya promise not to go blabbing I'll give you guys a good look-see at it.
(Takes Hawke and Santini over to KITT)

Hawke: Looks like a tricked-out Mustang. That custom job probably set ya back a few grand.

KITT: You have no idea.

Santini: What the crap was that? some kind of talking super-computer?

KITT: I am the Knight Industries Three Thousand. You may call me KITT. I am a highly advanced, automated,
artificially intelligent automobile. I was designed and built by Dr. Charles Graiman.

Mike: KITT, these guys are Stringfellow Hawke and Dominic Santini. They're the guys flying that "UFO"
Guys, say hello to KITT.

Dom: Very nice but no way it could keep up with our lady.
Mike: Well we would give you a run for your money.
String: Whats the top speed?
Mike: About 400mph
String: Nothing then Airwolf can go mach 1.5 safely and up to mach 2 if we remove the limit.
Mike: So where do you keep it?
String: That i'm afraid we can't tell you.

Mike: So why in the first place were you tryin' to kill us like that?

String: We weren't trying to kill you. We were trying to get your attention.

Mike: You have a nice way of getting peoples attention. Question, you're in the supermarket and you need to ask one of the workers there where the bread is, do you just get out a rifle and start shootin'?!

Dom: Very funny...

Mike: So why exactly were you trying to get my attention?

String: Well, first we were trying to see if you would fire on us. You didn't, therefore we can be allies. Second, we shot at your car and nothing penetrated it. We wanted to see why on earth that happened.

Kitt: As long as you do as promised and not, as Mike said, 'blab' about me, I'll tell you why. I have Nanoskin Technology that gives me the ability to repair my shell when a projectile hits it. I can also use it to change my skin to a different color.

String and Dom: Wow. Our lady ain't got nothin' on that.

Mike has a beaming smile on his face.

Dom: What else you got?

Kitt waits a second before asking into Mike's earwig: Should I tell them?

Mike nods his yes: I don't see why not.

String and Dom eschange looks. Mike just shrugs like speaking to his self was something he does everyday.

Kitt: I have a 550 horsepower engine, race-tuned suspension, xenon headlamps with infrared night vision, access to military satelites,...

Mike interrupts: If he tells us all about himself, we'll be here all night.

String and Dom just stand there with mouths open. Yeah, they had the fastest bird, but he had the most advanced car.

String: So where do you call your base of operations?
Mike: There is a mansion which we use
(KITT brings up map on his hood)
Dom: Wow fancy hood
KITT: Why thank you
String: So shall we wait for you there then?
Mike: Ok. KITT how long will it take us to get back?
KITT: About 2 hours
String: See you in 2 hours then.
(String and Dom get back in airwolf and start the engines)
Mike: That chopper's got some power hey pal.
KITT: Yes it has and i hope that we can trust them. But their weapon systems have done some minor damage to my Nano Shell as they were using explosive rounds in the chain guns.
(Airwolf takes off, raises the landing gear, hits the turbos and is gone)
Mike: Well lets get home.
(Mike and KITT head back to the flag manor)

-Move to inside airwolf-

Dom: String I like that guy i really do but i have a strange feeling that I know him from somewhere but i can't quite put my finger on it.
String: Yeah Dom I know what you are getting at.
Dom: String we've got company.
String: What sort of company?
Dom: Two F18 hornets closing fast.
String: Ok Dom give me full turbos we're gonna out climb these guys.
(Airwolf climbs past 40,000ft)
Dom: Ok they are breaking off.
String: Run a picture of our friend through the Firm's databases.
Dom: Ok i've got two results.
String: Ok lets hear them.
Dom: In one entry he is listed as Michael Traceur, a deceased Iraq war veteran.
String: Ok what is the other?
Dom: The other one he is listed as Michael Knight, A former government operative. In a sub branch of the FBI called Knight Industries research and development.
String: Ok good to know. At least he seems to be on our side. Anyway lets get the lady back to her lair.

[Knight94]

KITT: Michael, do you suppose that Mr. Hawke and Mr. Santini have looked into you, specifically your past and your
work for the Foundation?

Mike: I don't know, maybe. Since you're thinking they're curious about us, I guess you could do some digging
about them and that firm Hawke mentioned.

KITT: What if I, as you say, turn up a big zero?

Mike: At least ya tried. Beats not trying at all, which would definitely turn up nothing. Go ahead,
give it a shot.

KITT: Giving it a shot now.

[My_Friend_KITT]

The F-18 quickly begin to flank the high-tech helicopter. Their malicious intent was quickly discovered as a blaring alarm resounded thoughout the cabin.

"We have a weapon's lock." A pilot on the starboard side announced into his scratchy radio. "Sir, do I permission to fire?"

A sinister voice echoed eerily clear as it ordered, "FIRE!"

Dom: String those F-18's snuck up on us.
String: Yeah I noticed
Dom: They are firing missiles
String: Pop a sunburst.
Dom: Ok the missiles took the bait.
String: Give me full turbos we've got to get behind these guys

(String engages the turbos and flies airwolf straight up into a nail tip stall coming down behind the two fighter jets)

String: Dom these ain't no military jets.
Dom: Why do you say that?
String: The markings are all wrong for a start. Try to intercept their radio frequency lets see who they are.
(Dom locks on to radio frequency)
String: Ok that confirms it these guys ain't military. Give me copperheads.
Dom: Ok copperheads ready
(String lowers helmet visor)
String:Firing now
(Two missiles emerge from the ADF pod underneath airwolf)
Dom: Thats one down but the other avoided the missile
String: Give me chain guns I'll take this guy one to one
(String positions airwolf behind the f18)
Dom: Ok string now is your best shot
(String fires the chain guns and the rounds rip through the fuel tank of the f18 causing it to explode instantly)


-Back to mike and kitt-

Suddenly flaming wreakage falls from the sky.

Mike: KITT what the hell was that?
KITT: IT appears to have been an F-18 Hornet Fighter Jet which has been shot down.
(KITT suddenly swerves to the left onto the desert sand)
Mike: KITT what th...
(More flaming wreakage falls exactly where mike and kitt would have been)
Mike: KITT did the pilots bail out?
KITT: I'm afraid not.
Mike: My god what just happened
KITT: I am receiving a radio transmission from an unknown source most likely Stringfellow Hawke.
String: Sorry about those two planes Mike. They were trying to shoot us down.
Mike: YOU JUST KILLED TWO AMERICAN PILOTS!
String: No we didn't. We identified the planes as belonging to a private security company so that is why we took action.
Dom: He's right kid. We would never shoot down american fighter jets.
String: Anyway we might be a bit late for that meeting as we have got to take the lady home.
Mike: Thats alright.
Dom: (To string) I think we would be better calling it a night and having our meeting tomorrow.
String: Ok would it be alright if we postpone our meeting until tomorrow.
Mike: Sure thing.

(hmm i just found this topic time for some fun)

The following morning

At the HQ of FLAG a red, white and blue bell jet ranger touches down on the grass beside the manor house. String and Dom step out of the aircraft and walk towards the front entrance of the house.
Sarah looks out of the window after hearing the helicopter land.

Sarah: Mike we have company.
Mike: What?
Sarah: A helicopter just landed and two men got out.
Mike: Ah, sorry I forgot to tell you what happened last night.
Sarah: Mike what are you on about?
Mike: They can explain better.

String: So Dom you sure this is the right place? It looks a bit, yah know... conspicuous.
Dom: These are the coordinates he gave us.

Mike swings open the ornate wooden door and moves to greet his guests.

Mike: Ahhh you're here.
String: Yep
Dom: Nice place you've got here kid.
Mike: Thanks. Anyway there is someone i'd like you to meet.

Sarah walks out of the door.

Mike: Dominic Santini, Sarah Graiman,
Dom: Nice to meet you miss.

Mike whispers into Sarah's ear.
Mike: Don't laugh.

Back to a normal tone of voice he says

Mike: Sarah, Stringfellow Hawke.

Sarah tries hard not the laugh but in the end fails.

Sarah: Stringfellow what kind of a name is that?

String: The name my parents gave me.

[Knight94]

Sarah: What were they, hippies?(snickers again)
String: Nope, just original. Unlike yours. Sarah's kinda plain-jane, if ya ask me.
Mike, to Dom: I gather this is his way of winning friends and influencing people?
Doesn't exactly ooze social grace.
Dom: And this is one of his better days.
String: Ya wanna quit jawwin and get to the rat-killing?

The four go to the garage, to discuss operations.

KITT: Mr. Hawke, Mr. Santini , nice to see the two of you again.
Dom: I still cannot wrap my ol' gray head around it, a talking car.
KITT: I am much more than a talking car, Mr. Santini.
String: Hey, Dom. Ya wanna get over here so we can find out about the
shootout? Ya can chew the fat with the car later.

Mike: KITT bring up the simulation on your hood.

The 3D image is projected from the hood of KITT.

Dom: mama mia thats cool.
String: When we were coming in we noticed a black SUV leaving the area of the car park at high speed. It appeared to be out of your line of sight.
Mike: Did you see anything else?
String: I was too busy concentrating on not putting the lady into a building.
Dom: Sorry kid my eyes ain't what they used to be.
String: The targeting camera records all of the video which is streamed through it that might have captured something.
Mike: That might be worth a look.
String: Ok we'll go get the lady.
Mike: Do you mind if I come along?
Dom: Well if you don't mind being blind folded for the second part of the journey. But it is up to String.
String: I'm fine with that.

Flash forwards 45 minutes.

The Jet ranger lands at the Santini Air hanger located at Van Nuys. As String steps out of the chopper he spots the brilliant white limo parked outside.

String: Oh god look who it is.
Mike: Problem.
String: Nah just a friendly neighbour hood Archangel.
Mike: Archangel?
String: I'll let him introduce him self... Hello Michael.
Archangel: I heard about your shinanigans last night.
String: And I'm supposed to care why?
Archangel: Same old String... Ah I see you've brought a friend.
String: Yeah thought I'd leave the introduction to you.
Archangel: Well I might as well. Allow me to introduce my self. Michael Coldsmith-Briggs III
Mike: Michael Knight
Archangel: I've heard of you. Knight Industries research and development right?
Mike: how did you...
Archangel: I take it Stringfellow has told you about the FIRM?
Mike: Yes.
Archangel: Well I'm it's director.

[Knight94]

Mike: So, you're cool with my being here, seeing your special weapon, the chopper.
Ya know some people like to keep things like this under serious wraps.
Archangel: I like to think you guys, your Foundation, are, uh, on the same team with us, perhaps?
String: I'd be willing to bet we are on the same team, Michael. Kicking terrorist butt, with seriously
high tech artillery, our lady, your car.
Mike: Okay. we do have that in common.
Archangel: That and your military service. Hawke and Santini served in Afghanistan, you in Iraq.
You were an Army Ranger. That's part of why your were sought by the Foundation, who made you an
operative, using a highly advanced car, the Knight Industries Three Thousand, also known as KITT.
There's that other thing.
String & Dom, in unison: What other thing?
Mike: You know about that too, huh?
Archangel: Yes, I do. Your father, also named Michael Knight.
String: Do what? What's this about another Michael Knight?
Mike: Like he said, my dad. He worked for the Foundation before me.
Dom: So when were ya gonna tell us this, Archangel? Just casually bring it up while ya ask for another beer?
"Hey, would one of you bring me another beer? And by the way, there's another Michael Knight,
this guy's dad, who worked for the Foundation a while back."
Archangel: Would you dial it back, Santini? I would've told you guys, all in good time, and if you'd asked.
String: Enough jawwin. Let's get to it.

Archangel: So I analysed the footage you sent me of those planes which attacked you last night. I ran the marking through the FIRM's computers but came back blank. So after that I decided to do some digging. It seems the planes which attacked you belong to a PMC known as 'Black River'
Mike: Oh for god sake.
Archangel: You know them?
Mike: They have tried to get to me twice now.
Dom: Just thought I should chime in. Michael you know I only went to Afghanistan with String because I pressured a couple of old friends into letting me fly supply choppers. They wouldn't have let me in otherwise.
Archangel: Ok Dominic no need to tell us your life story.
Dom: Ey I was just saying.
Archangel: So as I was saying Black River are the people who attacked you. Thing is though ever since that 'incident at their global HQ they have gone underground. The FIRM haven't been able to find them.

[Knight94]

Mike: They've definitely gone rogue, then. I thought they were bad news the first time around.
String: How do ya mean, Michael?
Mike: My first run-in with 'em was in Vegas, they were after Sarah and KITT. They wanted the tech,
the artificial intellegence. They planned on using it to start a war. The leader was a guy named Welther
Mulhare. He came after us, and killed my mom. I stopped 'em, or so I thought. They showed up again,
more recently teaming up with Garthe Knight, the guy my dad shared a face with.
Dom: Ya mean twins?
Mike: Not exactly. My dad was Michael Long, a Vegas cop.
Archangel: Garthe Knight was the vicious son of billionaire Wilton Knight. His ruthlessness got 'im
a triple life sentence. It was expected he'd never be seen or heard from again.
Mike: So when my dad was shot and left for dead, Wilton Knight found him, had his face done to
look like Garthe Knight, and gave him the Knight name.
String: What about Welther, and Black River? Where do they fit in?
Mike: They teamed up with Garthe, and Adrianne Margeaux, and came after us again, but with KARR
as their weapon of choice.
