Musicians for original KR Series music

Post by johnbamber » Sun May 03, 2009 9:33 am

Hey all

I did a search, and didn't turn up anything so I figured I'd post and ask my question here... I'm curious who were the musicians for all of the original music? Who played bass specifically, they're an absolutely sick player. I'm curious what other stuff this person might have done.

Thanks for any help!

In the two-part Peake interview he names two or three of them.

Also:

Jay Daversa (trumpet)
Billy Mays (piano)
Emil Richards (percussion)

Maybe come up with more later.
And when things appeared to get better, they got worse, and everyday was a day to cry.

FYI. Some of the musicians who played on the original recording of the Knight Rider theme were:

Ralph Grierson Synth
Mike Lang Synth
Randy Kerber Synth
Emil Richards Perc
Ken Watson Perc
Larry Bunker Perc
Dennis Budimer Guitar
Chuck Berghofer Bass
Steve Schaeffer Drums
Paul Leim Drums

There was no trumpet on that date, as Don Peake suggests. Only synths... perc... guitar... piano... and two drummers.

Mike Lang is an amazingly talented piano player as well. Amost any film score where you hear piano -- if the linear notes credit the musicians, you can place a safe bet you'll see Mike Lang listed there. There's someone I'd like to get ahold of and interview.

Add to the list -- which I found by accident:

Lee Sklar

Gary L. Coleman (percussion)
Ian Underwood (on the main title; don't know for the episodes [keyboard]; he also does flute)

Possibly Steven Ameche. He was a musician, but he turned actor.

I contacted Stu Phillips and he was nice enough to reply. He said for his (and Peake's, and the one episode Morton Stevens scored) there were 181 musicians. That's a lot of holes to fill!
