Actually I'm happy that this version is a little different than the mold used for K.I.T.T. and K.A.R.R. I wouldn't want to buy a third version with only different paint. (I'm glad it's not the '92 body with that awful rounded nose and ground effects.)
But I thought this project was canceled last year? Now that a new mold has been made it looks definite this time.

That looks a lot like the car I started with to make my conversion when I bought it. Mine still has the GFX on it and I plan on keeping them on just to make my own version of KITT. Some other stuff I am leaving as is too, I like doing my own thing..hehe. So it is nice to see a version like this.

I'll buy it, I've wanted 1:18 3rd gen Firebird/Trans-Am to my Pontiac collection for years! Black would be the best choice for me too but I'll accept other colours too since it's '89 GTA, not '82 T/A.PBH wrote:Are you guys gonna buy it?
In addition for KITT, my Pontiac collection includes:
- 2nd gen '79 Trans-Am (1:43, Yatming)
- 3rd gen '84 Trans-Am remotecontrolled toycar (1:24)
- 4th gen '95 Firebird (1:38, Welly)
- 4th gen '99 Firebird Ram-Air (1:24, Motormax)
- '85 Fiero GT (1:18, Yatming)
Also 1:62 2nd gen Firebird toycar made by Matchbox and 1:62 Majorette 3rd gen Trans-Am toycar.
Still should get the 1st gen Firebird somewhere...

Depending on the price I will get a black one and make it look like the car I bought (paint the ground effects gold).

Never seen it, can you show me
Sure, here's pics of it:
It's plastic and made by "Star Toys" and from 1980's. I assume it's '84 because it has the ground fx. I'm not 100% sure but I think the '82-83 TA didn't have them.
Since I started posting pics, here's my other Pontiac models:
Firebirds:
Fiero (rims painted black by myself):

Wow PBH! What a great collection!
This is my collection. I really like the Delorean Models they are very detailed. I got Christine and the Smokey and the Bandit one for Christmas.
Amazing detail with the DeLorean, I recommend it!
I didn't know there was actually writing on the time circuits but the camera picked it up!
Also for Christine fans......
and PBH does the trunk on your smokey and the bandit model open? it says that its supposed to on the joyride site but mine doesn't seam to open.

Thats a cool model of the Firebird.
James, who makes your DeLorean as think theres a couple of companies that make them in that scale and as don't know which to buy, I haven't got one.
I had same with my Smokey & Bandit, I took it apart to see why the boot didn't open, while apart I painted gold around the front grille and reverse lamps on as they were the only bits of detailing missing, except black between the spokes like KITTfan did with his Pontaic

I have 4 Deloreans and two that you can't see. The 1:18 Scale Sun Star model is the one you want. Best detail in a model ever. Looks so realistic!
(corrected) Not made of stainless steel.
The bandit trans am is really good I really like the detail and the paint job! It moves really smooth too.
Christine's boot opens and has a spare tire inside.

Sun Star is the only company who makes the DeLorean in 1:18 scale. So far, they have produced 7 models that I own. They are (In order or release, I think):James_kr wrote:@andy-kitt

1) Stock DMC Delorean
2) Delorean from Back To The Future II (Many inaccuracies - VERY short run)
3) Delorean from Back To The Future II (More accurate version)
4) Stock DMC Delorean in gold
5) Delorean from Back To The Future I
6) Delorean from Back To The Future III (Whitewall 50's Tires)
7) Delorean from Back To The Future III (Traintrack wheels)
The last Delorean from Back To The Future III (Traintrack wheels) is the most accurate of the lot. An amazing replica!
Welly made 4 1:24 scale models (Stock, BTTF I, BTTF II, BTTF III/Whitewall Tires) and a few other companies made smaller scales.
They are NOT made of stainless steel. They are die-cast metal with a stainless steel-like finish. Although I must say, the finish does look like the real McCoy and they are otherwise very detailed for their pricepoint.

James_kr wrote:Do you have a photo of the innacurate BTTF2 version?
More photos of both accurate & inaccurate models can be found here - http://www.bttf.jp/goods/sunstar.html . If the interior photo you posted is of your BTTF II model, then you have the accurate version. To my knowledge, the original version only lasted a few short weeks.
Here are close ups of the more inaccurate items:
Under-door Wiring
Time Circuts Activation Switch
And MOST importantly (in my book), Mr Fusion
The above photo is the corrected version of Mr. Fusion. Here's a photo of the old, incorrect version:

the only thing i dont like about the part II delorean 1/18 cars is the way the wheels just rotate down. on the full size flying car mock up the one they hung with wires for some shots as well as the filming miniture the wheels fold out differently.
note the wheels push out away from the body of the car then rotate down. i have a model kit or 2 of this car and the folding wheel mechanisms on the model are the same as the ones in the filming miniture and flying mockup. as for the part III cars both the whitewall and train wheel cars in 1/18 have wheels smaller in the front than in the back. now on a stock delorean wheels the fronts are both smaller in diameter and are narrower than the rears. if you watch part III you see that the delorean has the same size wheels front and back, part of what gives the front that jacked up look. sorry for the rant, the BTTF movies and the delorean time machine are my all time fave movies and car (next to kitt ).

The inaccurate version of the Back To the Future Part II model also looks shorter in length than the finalized version. If I had the first version, I'd keep it sealed in mint condition. Something like that might be worth a bit of money.
And speaking of accuracy, what also bugs me about the wheels is the missing lettering (especially in the Part I version). The "DeLorean" lettering on the rear bumper also should not be white, but just indented in the bumper, uncolored.
