questions about ki2k

i finaly get to watch the first season of the original kr thanks to hulu so far i have 2 questions
1) why isn ykitt's scanner on al the time compared to ki3k which is always on
2) why does ki2k hood always look like its open

to answer your question

1) The scanner needs to only be on when KITT is in survellence mode or when Michael is needing KITT to look for something.

2) The hood isn't usually on becuase the car your seeing is the stunt car not the show or hero car that looks perfect..If you get the DVD box set it Glen Larson actually talks about the low budget he had in season one and the editing isn't perfect...

That is because in the first season the Knight 2000s scanner was only one when he was actually using it, scanning something, driving himself, etc.. The hood was most likely because of the shell that was placed over the car for certain scenes. When the shell would get damaged they would just remove the shell.

for the hood remark, you can stell see this on the following season as well. why? did they find out it would be more cost efficiant to just use it? I was watching "KittNap" from 4th season yesterday, When KITT was driving through the Cinema parking area, you can clearly see the hood open as the remark says. Strange ha?
