knight rider online

So I got my Knight Rider GPS yesterday and I haven't been able to get KITT to talk to me other than the greeting screen. I also don't have an activation key that I can find, anywhere. Do I have to purchase the $80 Map Update to get the KITT-voice turn-by-turn navigation?

Is there a way to fix it other than returning it? I got it as a gift and don't have a receipt.

Did you get it brand new in the box?
If you did thats really strange why it would do that.
The only other time I have seen that is when someone trys to hack it and doesn't do it right.
If it came from the factory like this than that sucks. It shouldn't happen really.
Use your miomore desktop cd if everything else fails.

If you drive through an area that just recently finished construction, it's off by just a bit that it keeps telling you to get on the interstate, even though you're already on it!

That, and the whole sounding out the letters as you type them in.

I got my GPS fixed BTW...I had to reload the voices back onto the unit.
