Two locations I am looking for here: the hotel where the conference is held, and the location between the trees and MK walks in to see the laser and gets spotted.

You do see a hint of rocks in the background that *might* be Vasquez, not sure.

The locations between the trees is called Peppertree Canyon, off Pico Canyon Rd in Newhall, CA.

Am trying to find it:

This could be the spot?

The GPS coordinates for the exact spot are: 34.390504, -118.620631

Just paste those into the Google Maps browser. Here's an aerial view:

My bad, it's off Potrero Canyon Rd, not Pico...same area though.

How did you find out it's there? I don't see any trees. Tho they may have died in the last 30 years.

Ooops my bad, trees on the right of that pin point. Fab.

Is the hotel there too, and that car park where those folk in the battered car hit KITT? I'm assuming it was all filmed in a similar location well away from LA.

I'll have to check my records...but I don't think that the hotel has been found yet...it would probably be fairly simple to find by looking for cues in the episode, I just don't think anyone has done that yet.

EDIT: There's a scene inside the hotel that shows a sign for the "Claremont Room". A google search finds a southern CA hotel called the Doubletree Clarmont at 555 W. Foothill Blvd., Claremont, California....but I can't tell if it's the same hotel or not....

Joe, I noticed when adding the location of the acid pit from 'Junkyard Dog' that Google Earth and Bing Maps differ in the name of this road, Google Earth has it as Pico Canyon Road for it's entire length from 126 (Henry Mayo Dr) through to Route 5 (Golden State Freeway) where as Bing Maps has it as Potrero Canyon Rd from 126 (Henry Mayo Dr) until the gated east entrance to the Newhall Ranch where it joins Pico Canyon Rd.

I found the hotel used as the "Dune Drifter" - it's Hyatt Westlake Plaza in Thousand Oaks. 880 S. Westlake Blvd., Westlake Village, California, USA 91361

Right in the centre by those tall trees and the white truck? Facing that extra part of building on the left i think.

That's if you watch the background bit at the end of this scene:

Almost the perfect streetview angle... with some extra grown bushes over the years.
