I am attaching screen captures from "Falcon Crest" and a few of the best shots I took when I visited Arden Villa in 2004.
Arden Villa was featured in the following "Falcon Crest" episodes:
# 069 (season 4 - episode 1; 1984-85) as
(1) the Riebmann House in Buenos Aires/Argentina (front, interiors)
(2) the Crane House near the Hudson River, New York (Southern terrace and pool)
# 070 (season 4 - episode 2; 1984-85) as
the Riebmann House in Buenos Aires/Argentina (front, driveway, grassy area near the pond, interiors)
# 212 (season 9 - episode 7; 1989-90) as
the Sharpe House in the Tuscany Valley north of San Francisco (front, driveway)
I hope you will enjoy the photos. In case anyone of you guys living in L.A. can identify the "courthouse" (or whatever it may be) I am looking for, please let me know. Thanks!

Great stuff, TJ, thanks! One of my lifelong dreams is to visit Arden Villa...not sure if it'll ever happen, but hey, I can dream.
Can you tell us a bit about your visit? How did it happen, thoughts on the property, etc?
Thanks so much!
Joe

FalconCrest, this is beautiful! I liked to see the house and Arden Villa is a mansion house.
It is spectacular! Thank you.
Alex.

I went to Arden Villa with two business partners in 2004 when we were on a research trip to Los Angeles for the first volume of our then-new newsletter series "FALCON CRESTers Tell It All!". Our research trip included visiting many of the L.A. based filming locations of "Falcon Crest" and the two studios where it was shot (Warner Bros. and CBS) as well as meetings for interviews with many cast & crew members.
We had a great time at Arden Villa because almost every spot reminded us of the great, classic television shows from the 1908's -- whether it be "Falcon Crest" (where they shot all over the estate), "Knight Rider" (as you probably know a lot better than I do), "Dynasty" (where they shot the famous catfight scene with Joan Collins and Linda Evans in the pond and also used the pool, the Southern terrace, the gate and the driveway as a substitute for the Filoli Estate), "Flamingo Road" (a really weird, but interesting show where Arden Villa posed as David Selby's residence -- many interior shots, in particular) or many other 1980's shows. I sort of relived the scenes of all those shows I remembered when I was there, and I tried to take pictures from almost the same angle as I remembered them from TV. What an experience!

Joe, I felt so lucky living in S. California and my dreams have come true
I went to the desert ending location again last weekend (4/4/2009).
viewtopic.php?f=2&t=11678#p137891" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I finally saw the ridges covered with snow, which pretty much confirms the desert ending
scene was filmed between Mar-May 1982 (27 years ago!).
That location was after my visit (same day) to an airwolf filming location, where Hawke played cello 25 years ago!

one_man,
It looks like the water level in the lake is very low. So...what happened to the dock? Also, is there an actual cabin nearby that they filmed at as well?

kitt1, thanks for asking. the dock was long gone (perhaps right after the series in the 80's),
and the actual cabin was at a different location. more info is available at:

This thread is only for classic KR filming locations, but a thread on the new series and even TKR would be cool!

Sue, thanks a lot for making the video at El Mirage Dry Lake. After I visited the "desert ending" location,
I could not resist driving to this famous KR Intro location, which is ~20 miles northeast to the "desert ending" location. i.e., the intro and last scenes of the pilot episode were both filmed in this region.
[note: the dry lake was closed when I arrived, but I managed to take a picture outside the fence before sunset. It's gorgeous out there

That's

No idea on this one though I'm afraid.

I am always fastinated about finding locations like this. It would be awesome if someone could do like Sue did and make a video of the opening intro.

Awesome. Probably some stock footage laying around. No way a crew goes to Hampshire just to do a quick sequence for the show when pretty much everything else was shot in LA.

Amazing find on the Pilot mansion! I'm sure as well that it wasn't shot specifically for Knight Rider - nonetheless, it's pretty cool. Here's a then and now comparison from the same angle, courtesy of Live Maps:

Maybe this pic from knightreplicas might help, it's probably a promopic taken during Inside Out episode as Michael wears blue shirt just like the one in the episode and the building looks similar to the one in question. There's some hills visible in the background:
