Joe,
Can you get VIRTUAL EARTH shots of the desert area from the opening credits and list the name of the location with possible directions from LA?

Hey Mark,

It's hard to pinpoint exactly where the credits were shot - the only reference is the mountains in the background. The problem is, the flats are so large and, well, flat, that it's hard to tell how far away from the mountains they are.

Rough coordinates for the intro would be:

40° 49′ 38.35″ N, 113° 48′ 14.18″ W

Geeze Joe, Every new car commercial that isn't filmed at Sepulveda Dam is shot on that same piece of desert that the opening credits of KNIGHT RIDER were shot at. I'm not smart enough to read coordinates. Got a ballpark of where it is for us non technical guys?

Nice.. It would be nice to see that place in real life. Now, anyone know where the other "ending" desert scenes were shot? "one man can make a difference".... :kitt: :karr:

I think its great to have some of the actual locations revealed & that gives me an idea, maybe I could visit a few
of these places a day or so before this years car show at Saugus Speedway.

That way I could take some pics to share later in September.

I've just found some locations from "The Final Verdict":

33°43'28.93"N, 118°16'28.96"W
Ending Turbo Boost/Limo flips over
57 Berth, San Pedro, CA

33°44'7.98"N, 118°16'49.80"W
Marty's Apartment
921 S. Beacon St, San Pedro, CA

Also, during the ending chase, you can see the Vincent Thomas Bridge in the background, but I haven't nailed down which streets they are on yet.

Well Mark, I just tried to look up the N registration numbers on the FAA's website...for the jet in the Pilot, the planes in "A Plush Ride" and the helicopter in "Just My Bill" - none of them were listed in their registry. Oh well! Nice thought though!

My visit to Jackson lake!

This weekend, I finally got a chance to visit a 'lake' scene, which is a rural scenery
that appeared frequently in Knight Rider (in the beginning of some episodes, or
when Michael was traveling between cities). I found this lake using Google Earth.

It's called Jackson Lake in the Big Pines Recreation Area of the Angeles National Forest.
Google Earth: Latitude: 34°23'29.42"N, Longitude: 117°43'29.61"W

http://www.fs.fed.us/r5/angeles/maps/br ... _pines.pdf

I also found other KR-scenes that were filmed along the "Big Pines Highway", will post later.

this lake is seen in the following episodes:

[ S1-1B-07 ] No Big Thing (First seen)
[ S1-2A-10 ] The Final Verdict (Opening credits)
[ S1-2B-14 ] Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death

[ S3-1A-02 ] The Ice Bandits
[ S3-1A-03 ] Knight of the Fast Lane
[ S3-3B-20 ] Knight Strike
[ S3-3B-21 ] Circus Knights

[ S4-1B-04 ] Burial Ground
[ S4-2B-14 ] Deadly Knightshade

Very nice find, one_man! It's hardly changed at all!

It also appeared via stock footage at the beginning of "Knight of the Juggernaut".

Thanks for adding the info. That will make it 10 episodes where the lake scene appeared.

Here is another view of the lake (KR scene on the upper left corner).
I was not able to take pictures from the same perspective (bird's eye view).
But you can see it with Google Earth (covered by snow, though).

Well, I just discovered another location...this one was a doozy to figure out, despite all the identifiers in the background. It's the Turbo Boost from "Diamonds Aren't a Girl's Best Friend". This one:

Image

All my searches for Burbank Faith Center came up blank (I found one in Sunland, CA, but it was a dead end). Then I noticed this in the chase scene before the TB:

Image

See the sign circled in red and the brown building on the far left? The sign also appears, from the other side, here:

Image

And the building on the far left:

Image

Bingo! Bischoff's Taxidermy. I Googled that and found their website:

http://www.bischoffs.net/cart/

In the description on the main page, they state they had three locations since it opened...one on Sunset Blvd, one on San Fernando Rd and their current location on Magnolia Blvd. Without the exact address, it would take quite a while to manually scroll through Google Earth to find the location. So, I emailed Bischoff's and included some screenshots from "Diamonds". Here's the response I got:

*************************************************************************
Hi Joe,

We used to be located at 449 San Fernando Blvd., Burbank as seen in the pictures you sent. The old building is still there.
If you come to the area, our new location is just around the corner at
Magnolia and First St. Give us a call and we would love to show you our huge Taxidermied Animal Collection we have available for use as Movie props.

Thanks for the pic's - "I Love Knight Rider"

Mary
*************************************************************************

Bingo Bingo! So, alas, here's the location:

Image

And here's KITT's path:
KITT chases the car down E. Santa Clarita Ave, turns left on to S. San Fernando Blvd, then turbo boosts at the intersection of S. San Fernando Blvd and Verdugo Ave:

Image

Lat: 34°10'43.20"N
Long: 118°18'20.51"W

I love this stuff!!

This is a continuing post of my tour to the "Big Pines" forest.

Latitude: 34°22'43.98"N, Longitude: 117°41'26.05"W
There are a lot of footages filmed around this location.
It is 3 miles east of the Jackson lake (see my post above).

Wow you guys are awesome for doing this! I belt it felt pretty neat to be able to stand where the camera man from the show stood some 23 years ago! I like how in the one picture where is shows the lodge, in the picture with kitt driving past you can see a little evergreen tree maybe 1' 1/2' tall and in the recent pictures you can see how its grown.
Booonnnnnzzzzaaaaaiii!!!!!!!! As michael turbo boosts to score the extra point. His face is so funny when he yells this and when he hits turbo boost his eyes get huge and he flies back into the seat

Okay, Knight 2:13 “Diamonds aren’t a girls best friend.” At time code 05:19. I’m gonna need help with the screen grabs on account of my computers DVD player having issues. This is from Griffith Park’s Travel Town. I ended up getting disoriented and took photos of several trains. Luckily one of them was the right one.

Great find, Sue! Here's that train in the episode:

Image

And a few other trains seen in that episode at the same location:

Image

Image

Image

Now, here's a challenge (MAYBE!). Can you find the location of Lauren's apartment building? It was also used as Karen's apartment building in "KITTnap".

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Notice the one picture above shows "Universal Park" on the building...my searches still came up blank. In KITTnap, you can see two important clues to help identify the location. In this first picture, notice the black building in the background:

Image

That's Universal's black tower at Universal Plaza on the right and the Sheraton on the left. Here's a satellite view of those two buildings today:
Image

In this screenshot, you can see a sidestreet, Bluffside Drive:

Image

And here's a satellite view of the only Bluffside Drive I could find that would be in range of Universal Plaza and the Sheraton:

Image

Unfortunately, it seems that the building has been torn down...but I could be mistaken. Can anyone confirm/deny?

Joe
