And Chandler and Vineland. It still has a little bit of a blue warehouse left.

Re: Locations ?
Now this one Joe, I was thinking you might have gotten wrong. I couldn’t remember anything being set back on a hill on Lankershim. But as it turns out they raised the whole street up when putting in the Universal City metro and new highway on ramp. Now instead of being on a hill the building is below street level.

Re: Locations ?
Joe and Sue, great find of the 'Custom KITT' location.
Here are additional views:
The following direct comparison shows that the warehouse is indeed gone (bulldozer in sight!)
But the one behind the blue one still exists (at least in Google street view, which could be one or
two years ago!)

Re: Locations ?
Yeah, I wasn't completely sure of that one either, Sue. The building in the background was definitely the "Race for Life" Hospital...but other surrounding areas didn't seem right...but them changing the elevation of the land around it may explain things!!Sue wrote:Now this one Joe, I was thinking you might have gotten wrong. Re: Locations ?
Here's another one...this one I'm about 90% sure is correct...can anyone verify?
From "KITT the Cat", the office building that the Catburglar scales:
This building is also beside the "Race for Life Hospital" near Main St & Lankershim in Studio City, CA. The building seems to match (9 windows across, indents at each corner) as does the parking lot below.

Re: Locations ?
Yes that one does look like the building I captured to the left of my photo above. It looks like those angles are taken from inside the main gate at universal, makes it a little bit harder to retake the picture.
It would appear they usually didn’t bother driving too far from home when filming KR. Now if only the new show would drive by…
Edit: How about that Joe, we were both thinking the same thing and we posted at the same time.

Re: Locations ?
The "K.I.T.T. The Cat" building is the Universal Black Tower that I've been referring to in the earlier posts of this thread. Stage 1 -- The Knight Rider Stage -- was located just behind it.

Re: Locations ?
Season 4, Knight of a Thousand Devils. Becker's House, the scene of an FBI raid and the murder of Michael's friend, agent Lew Jonas. It's located on Dry Canyon Cold Creek Road, Calabasas, CA.
Hasn't changed a bit! Dry Canyon Cold Creek Road was also the location for scenes later in the episode, such as when Michael and Ana Lucia (in K.I.T.T.) and RC3 (on motorcycle) chase Becker across the border.

Re: Locations ?
Just found this over at Universal's site:
http://www.thestudiotour.com/ush/frontlot/stage01.shtml
http://www.thestudiotour.com/ush/frontl ... ions.shtml
It's a history of Stage 1 at Universal Studios, and of course, Knight Rider gets a mention. Interesting stuff! And very sad that it is going to be (or maybe already has been) torn down...

Re: Locations ?
Now we are visiting a 'small town', Covina in the LA region.
Here, I only show a few key locations. You can navigate thru
the town using Google street view and see a lot of scenes
filmed here.
Season 2: 'Silent Knight'
(refer to the number in the image and the map below)
0. Covina Theater
In the beginning of the episode, a woman almost
got hit by the robbers' van.
1. Bank of R. Gilmer
Location: 100 S. Citrus Ave., Covina, CA 91723
cross street: E Badillo St.
2. The location where Tino dodged the van.
(Covina Theater in the background)
# This is also the location where Michael encountered Tino.
(Hey! what a dangerous town for pedestrians, there were almost
three 'accidents' in this episode!)
# This is also the alley of a turbo boost scene in
"A nice indecent little town"
3. The corner where the robbers where passing Michael and Tino.
(what a crowd of bystanders that day!)
# This also the corner (circle) where Michael arrived in town.
(turn right on W College St into N Citrus Ave.)
I bought a cup of coffee at today's Starbucks
4. Inter-Community Campus (Medical Center)
210 West San Bernardino Road
Covina, California 91723
http://knightridercollective.com/locati ... onskr2.htm
Joe Huth: "When KITT turbo boosts over the car near
the beginning of the episode, you can spot
the Inter-Community Medical Center in the
background."
The turbo boost took place on W. Cottage Dr.
as indicated by the red arrow, and the chasing
(left turn) continued into the '3rd Ave'.
5. Woodfield Police
Covina Police Department
444 N Citrus Ave
Covina, California 91723
(appeared as "Alpine Crest Sheriff" in "A Nice, Indecent Little Town")
(please see my previous post)
(Left: KR-scenes, Right: Jan. 2008) Season 1: 'A Nice, Indecent Little Town'
a. Michael arriving in town (driving path in blue)
The red rectangle (also see the map) indicates a building
(also seen in the background of turbo boost scene in "Silent Knight")
used to be the "Alpine Crest Hotel". It's torn down today!
b. N Citrus Ave. & E School St. where Michael chased Ron Austin on foot.
Devon's gave speech at the backlot of U. Studio, where there is a
small park in front of the building (Back to the future!). There is also
small park in front of the Covina PD. The scenes were edited in such
a way to make you believe that they took place at the same time
and the same place (changed after Michael was stopped by the police).
c.d. on the way to "Alpine Crest Hotel"
red circle: Covina Theater
e.f. the alley where KITT parked and Michael went to visit Martha and Jobina.
g.(1) you can see the 'Gilmer Bank' in "Silent Knight" in the background
h.(2) turbo boost took place at the same alley seen in "Silent Knight"
(red rectangle: the rooftop of the Alpine Crest Hotel).

Re: Locations ?
Here's one I posted about a year ago in another thread...but I wanted it here as well.
This location has a special meaning for me as it's one of the first KR locations I've visited in person.
Season 2: "Goliath"
The location used for Red Bluff is actually the Valley of Fire State Park in Overton, NV:
This is known as "Elephant Rock":
Lat: 36°25'44.61"N
Long: 114°27'36.77"W
Valley of Fire West Entrance:
Lat: 36°24'22.30"N
Long: 114°34'18.70"W
This scene is just past the VOF entrance:
Lat: 36°24'18.99"N
Long: 114°33'53.89"W
This scene, where Goliath rips around the corner, is a little further west from the entrance:
Lat: 36°25'0.68"N
Long:114°32'46.94"W

Re: Locations ?
Thanks! It was really quite a nice adventure (even though a rain storm filled much of the lake with water.) I’m gonna have to go back when it is dryer so I can really get SHADO up to speed. You can tell the edge of the lake where I was driving was a little rough on poor SHADO, (but don’t worry, afterwards I rewarded him with a tune up.)neps wrote:Wow Sue! After filming we set up some chairs and grilled a steak and watched the sun set. It was very peaceful.
It almost feels like you can see KITT off in the distance of this picture I took.

Re: Locations ?
Hey everybody! Haven't been on here in a while, and I think this thread is awesome! In my spare time I've looked around for filming locations myself for other shows and movies. I figured I'd contribute to the thread with some cool info I found a while back (albeit KR unrelated). If you're a big Reginald VelJohnson fan, or you've lost sleep wondering where Steve Urkel and Carl Winslow lived then wonder no more!
Refresh your memory: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L3JLqbaJ0AY
I recalled the show was set in Chicago. So naturally that's where I started looking via Google Earth. The first shots here validate that.
Finding the Winslow's house was a much more daunting task. All I had to go by was the skyline and the baseball field / track located across from the house in the opening and closing credits. And if you've ever used Google Earth or the like, you'll know that views from above will often let you see tons of soccer and baseball fields. So long story short, I just moved around the skyline until the buildings looked relatively close, and then I just started looking at all of the baseball field / tracks. Lo and behold...
The house is dead center (with the silver/grey rooftop). It looks like the home directly to the left of the Winslow's was torn down and a big brick building put in. But I'm 99.9% positive this is the location. It's located at the intersection of North Bosworth Ave and West Wrightwood Ave in Chicago.

Locations ?
Today's tour:
Royal Palms State Beach, San Pedro, CA
Three episodes have scenes filmed at this beach
(Trust Doesn't Rust, Forget Me Not, Return to Cadiz).
I found it by accident after visiting a filming
location in Macgyver (Season 1 Episode 13:
Flame's End). I watched KR DVD later and
realized that I have photos of similar
scenes in KR!
Season 1: Trust Doesn't Rust
Street racing before the final showdown
Latitude: 33°43'3.01"N, Longitude 118°19'12.58"W The corner where Michael made a sharp turn and drove uphill.
(from Royal Palms Dr. into Kay Fiorentino Dr.)
A. KR scene
B. Macgyver arrived to meet his ex-GF
C. my photo Location of final showdown of KITT vs. KARR.
street name: W Paseo Del Mar, San Pedro, CA
33°42'54.29"N, 118°18'45.62"W
(top: KR scene; bottom: Google street view, but not exactly the same)

Re: Locations ?
I love this thread. I grew up in So Cal and knew that most of KR was shot in and around LA.
I personally have a 1987 TA (see signature) that I’m working on getting back on the road. I’ve had the car since 1994 and the transmission went out in 1998. Car has been sitting since. Ugh.
I would love to go and try to recreate these scenes. The do-able ones that is: Fly bys, driving by, etc.
I really gotta do that El Mirage dry lake bed scene with my Trans am. Great job Sue (& Shado).
Anyhow. I just chimed in on this forum after lurking for while now.
If any of you guys are in the San Fernando Valley Area (CA), we have a club of GM Performance car that meets up every Friday night. If interested, check us out at http://www.gmeternal.com. Most of us are KR fans. I’m the biggest on of course. It would be great to have some fellow KR enthusiast in the mix.
