It was fine. I never expected a great -or even good- show out of Knight Rider, so long as it doesn't make me barf in my mouth (like several instances last time). So, yeah, episode was fine for your standard "filler" (much as the actual meaning of the term may not apply here). KITT's dialogue's considerably improved in some time now.

Even though I was not really paying attention, the 2 best scenes I enjoyed the most were KITT driving through the wall (by the way was he still the Scion then *in Attack Mode*). I loved Billy's face when he asked KITT for Attack Mode. The other favorite scene was the Oil Slick and KITT rubbing his nose in it by asking to open the gate too.

KITT rubbing his nose? When did it even grew one? or a pair of arms to rub that nose? :?

Anyway noses and arms aside, I enjoyed this episode I like that they keeped the peeping to a minimum this time around and I like that they allowd the character of billy to finally grow wings and actually develiop this tme around, I'm sas that this is the last episode we will watch 'till January, off course that makes the haters ecctatic but I don't care...

Michael Pajaro wrote:This was a good episode if NBC wants to spin-off a new show "Billy". But this was not by any means a good episode of Knight Rider. We've just become so used to being disappointed in all the things we're not seeing every week that we keep lowering our standards and go out of our way to look for little things that we like in each episode.

But no. No no no no no. We should not accept the past 2 weeks as "Knight Rider". When the series was retooled after the 2-hour movie, we were promised action and excitement. They're not delivering.

Wasn't 'Knight Of The Zodiac' exciting? Wasn't 'I Wanna Rock & Roll All Knight' exciting, too? That's open to dispute. To me these episodes felt much more like the original KR than 'Knight Of The Living Dead' or 'A Hard Day's Knight'... Just alike 'Journey To The End Of Knight' (full of action and excitement) these stories could have been written/aired in the 80s (maybe earlier). TOS and other 80s series weren't supposed to be sophisticated but entertaining.... Many people (including some of my friends) think Knight Rider is and always was -don't get me wrong- stupid rot! The A-Team as well. I still love the show...I don't want to see Next Idol, LOST, CSI-Smallville etc. I want to see a man and his smart-alecky talking sports car.
Try to look the past episodes with a smaller telescreen, lower focus, mono sound ....(lowering our standards)... picture Billy as RC3 and you'll get the 80s Knight Rider experience... So what is a good episode of Knight Rider?

No because KITT 2.0 is Referring to the Knight Industries Three Thousand 2.0. if It was the second version of the KI2T they would call it Knight Industries 2000 2.0

yeah i thought that was lame. I Guess they did it just to be funny. Although i am near a hundred percent sure we'll see a 2010 mustang transformation in there later on to advertise it.

Wasn't that referring to the Model-T originally?

Considering it wasn't even a real car, it's weird that they couldn't have made it black, but eh, oh well...

That's only cause she got to smack around the bad guy allitle. Not a bad episode. Had some more action. Still had the same old 15 minutes of sex. Grainman saying he was having lot's of sex with that green lady totally changed my opinion of him. I used to think he could be like Devon but once that left his mouth I knew he couldn't. Picture Devon saying something like that. I thought Grainman had more class than that but I guess not. The use of the black ice was awesome and so was kitt saying he missed michael.
Booonnnnnzzzzaaaaaiii!!!!!!!! As michael turbo boosts to score the extra point. His face is so funny when he yells this and when he hits turbo boost his eyes get huge and he flies back into the seat

Regarding the argument on the sense of escape entertainment, I find it very stressful believing in the bad writing that was in this episode. I didn't feel any of the characters at all...all I seen were the actors just trying to play their part.

This is one of those episodes where I start comparing the excellent story line that is being done in the other 80's mega franchise that is currently on FOX. That series stands on it's own, even after addressing the subplot that is basically the roots of the whole Terminator story. Knight Rider is trying to do that too, but the actors being forced to go through some of these stories is like being smothered by a pillow. I'm sorry, but Knight of the Zodiac as the last episode until after the holidays really peeved me.

i thought this show was horrible, it was even worse then last weeks show, they need to kick the writers of kr08 out the door, and get some new writers that understand what made the original series work. i feel like kr08 has become a comedy act. and whats with all the sex scenes, they should call this show love rider. enough is enough knight rider is suppose to be about a man and his supercar but instead we get this joke of a show with bad acting bad writing and a less than super car that cant even come close to the original. i hope they fix all these problems with the reboot if not this show is done!!!!!!!!!

I think I know what the problem is, the writers are a bunch of dweebs that need to get laid. Once they do that they will stop taking out their frustrations on the script/characters and every other scene wont have the lousy childish banter between Billy and Zoe, the pathetic grade eight crush scene's between two twenty somethings or the scene's of ladies rubbing oil on themselves.

I could not watch this all the way through, I shut it off once I saw Graiman swapping spit with whoever she was, why does every character need to be a horn dog? How about some class and dignity, you would never see Devon doing that.

You loser writers have at your disposal TV`s greatest supercar and this is what you come up with, you must have been writing porn scripts before this gig. This garbage makes KR 2000 look oscar worthy.

Last night KITT was saying that he couldn't show the Billy video because it was password-protected, right? Well, if they put up a video of Billy making out with that Fiona Gubelmann girl on the KR Industries website I'd be happy to find the password for it. Watching that would be a lot better than watching KR 2008 itself.

Having watched it again, I think my rating was way too high, partially because of how much I disliked last week's episode and the fact that KITT actually did a couple things in this one with the black ice and crashing through a wall. But other than that it was rather "meh". I still liked Billy's side story but not as much as the first time where I wasn't paying so much attention and I do think we could have done without the gratuitous close ups of the bikini girls and various parts of their anatomy, that's just a cheap attempt at distracting viewers. I dunno if it's laziness or if they just don't know how to write anything good without relying on bits of pointless T&A but it's really out of hand and I've for the most part been on the side telling people to "lighten up" but it's beyond that point even for me now.

I'm glad at least that the girl Billy met didn't turn out to be a hooker or a thief, grifter or anything like that, at least as far as we know. Then there was Charles side story that was just terrible and the only reason for it being there was for the annoying as hell and hypocritical Green Week BS that's worse than a bad after school special. Besides that, papa wanted to get laid! I liked Sarah's reaction to it with sticking her fingers in her ears and going "LA LA LA LA" over and over and I wish I would have done the same during the scenes, more so with the "carbon footprint/credit" which I'm sure was promptly sold to Al Gore. At least they didn't shill the wonderful and potentially toxic solar panels (which NBC's parent, GE makes) like they did last year on Life or the other potential toxic hazard, compact florescent lights, also made by GE. But still, the third grade environmental lesson was bad enough, I'd rather watch Captain Planet like I did when I was little if I wanted to be indoctrinated by propaganda and even that show was more subtle about it.

Then there was the in your face and horrible Ford shilling again which has been something I've hated since the backdoor pilot and tonight was no exception with the faux 2010 Mustang and the shiny new Ford Flex which KITT turned into and Billy some how drove off with (apparently no one noticed the scanner either) without anyone batting an eye. Whatever happened to subtlety in "product integration", STOP BASHING IT OVER MY HEAD DAMMIT! Maybe Ford is the one really in control of this show and if that's the case then it's screwed no matter what changes are made. It's really no wonder why Ford is in the toilet with the people they've got running things, including whomever is watching over this show because instead of making people want to buy, well anything, I'm certain they're doing the opposite in trying waaaay too hard to sell their products and it shows.

The leads are supposed to be and should Mike and KITT, not Mike and Sarah, not Mike and Billy, not KITT and Sarah, not Billy and KITT not anyone but Mike and KITT. It's like if Lethal Weapon 5 was going to be made (thankfully those plans fell through) and while Riggs and Murtaugh are supposed to be the main characters you go and dedicate a significant part of the movie, if not more of it on Leo Getz (Joe Pesci), Lee Butters (Chris Rock), Lorna Cole (Rene Russo, heh) and/or Murtaugh's family and their own stories or even not even have Murtaugh and Riggs together through 90% of it and each character is off doing their own thing while they communicate by cell phone. It's like if the Lone Ranger without riding Silver or even Tonto riding Silver instead or how about the Odd Couple, but instead of living together, they're just neighbors or only one of them are in the room at the same time and spend 90% of the episode(s) with other characters. This is nothing against the the actors or the characters they portray but they should be supporting characters while the leads (Mike and KITT) get most of the screen time and while maybe once or twice a season each character gets an episode focused around them, it's still not so much that Mike and KITT take a backseat to that character. You know, actually, I don't mind Sarah being behind the wheel of KITT, BUT this should be an extremely rare occurrence when either KITT for some reason either can't drive himself or for cover purposes.

Like others have said, KITT is nothing more than a glorified prop and you can tell their budget sucks from not just the recycling of footage (let's be fair, the original series did do a lot of this) but the excessive green screen instead of the old towing method (and probably not wanting to spend time getting permits and all that stuff) and lack of real driving action, especially with the "precious" GT500KR and probably Ford mandated lack of doing anything with the dash, the HUD, as much as I like it, is not enough and I hope but doubt that chances as well but I have no hopes of that.

Anyway, this is gone on far too long and has become a rant. So to sum it up...

What I liked:

The beginning of the episode with Mike confronting the Virgo guy.
Billy's paper cut thing was mildly amusing.
The use of Elvis.
As juvenile as it was, Sarah's reaction to Carrie, Zoe and Billy's comments about Charles and his "old friend" with benefits.
Hey! Carrie smiled!
Fiona Gubelmann.
KITT's missing Mike.
Some of Billy's side story with Courtney and her not turning out to be someone of ill repute. Including his revealing that he was in fact a secret government operative.
The Zoe/Billy exchange regarding said girl.
Mildly amused by Leo's inquiring about KITT and if "she" was single.
KITT finally drove through something!

What I didn't like:

The Green Week stuff.
The Ford stuff.
The "party" scene with Ocean's.... I mean Team Zodiac, which looked stupid and I didn't believe for a second that any of those characters would listen to that type of music.
Billy's side story went on maybe a bit too long and did he need a one night stand? Granted it is Vegas......
The total lack of Mike and KITT really doing anything together, the EMP thing and a couple slow driving scenes don't count.
Why didn't Mike have KITT make him a new ID instead of carrying around "Virgo's" with his picture on it? What they did was even more suspicious than the ID with the real guy's picture on it.
The lack of real action.
The pointless T&A from the pool scene and the focusing on it while panning over the girls, close up.
Billy just driving out of the casino with the "Win this Car" car without anyone paying attention... Though maybe security was busy with that whole robbery issue to notice.
Oh and the night vision goggles shouldn't have worked after that EMP, but I'll try and forgive that..
Billy apparently driving KITT, though maybe it was only for that bit and KITT took over in Attack Mode since we didn't see anything.

What I was indifferent to:

Everything else.

I'm sure I could go on but clearly this has gone on way too long and I could ramble on longer. I doubt anyone will manage to read all of this without at least taking a break or three. I guess over all though, with keeping it in comparison with the other episodes and especially last week's, a 4/10 and now I'd say no episode so far as made it past a seven for me which may also be too high. I'm sure that if I went back and re-watched them I'd be less generous than I was in the old episode topics. We have over a month until Knight Fever which my expectations for are less than zero.

It's something that I mentioned bugging me in the first episode and I have to agree with Mike, it's not Knight Rider. Even as a continuation 22 years later, it's completely lacking the heart, soul and spirit of the original series and I don't mean any of the original cast. I could have dealt with the government angle for these episodes if the writing was better and they had some logical explanations behind it, I agreed with the idea of being light on background and "mythology" with self contained stories and stuff like that but it just hasn't worked and while I'm sure it was in a lot of ways, the plan for things to go the direction they have since they were so far into filming before the first episode aired, the writing to get there has mostly been abysmal. I don't blame the cast, but the writers, Gary Scott Thompson and especially NBC should have had their priorities straight from the start and that includes this relationship with Ford which is clearly one sided and on the wrong side. Instead of trying to do things "their own way" like so many failed adaptations have done they should have looked at the original series, the entire series and looked at what worked and what didn't, there wasn't a natural or even logical progression to show us how things got to where they were. It wasn't updating the concept, it was taking the concept, throwing it away and then trying to come up with one's own idea as to what the show should be. I don't know if the "new and improved" episodes are going to do that, but I think they should have in the first place now. I'll still hold out hope that things are going to greatly improve but if they screw up KARR's pending return (that also includes Charles apparently making a new KARR for some stupid reason and it not being related to the original) I might be done. I'm no longer going to let them blind me with throwing the occasional bone here an there that I've allowed to occasionally distract me either.

Holy crap! I said I could go on and then I did! Okay okay, I'm done this time, really.

To be honest I should really have quoted the entire post but here we are anyways. I should say I agree with you totally and the fact that they keep making bad stories has been a problem ever since they aired the back door pilot. We're back at where we started, too much T & A's, the show lacks of pretty much everything compared to TOS. We miss the real life turbo boost, we miss the real Mike and Kitt chases, we miss the real action etc.
Wednesday's night episode was nothing different from other episodes we've seen so far. Yes we did get a little Vegas here and some crashing through a wall there and a Ford commercial included to the episode. Note here, it was during the actual episode. After 22 years the must think we're stupid to say that that's the new Kitt and showcasing a Mustang 2010 that's not even black to begin with. Hell, it even says Mustang on the lower door panels with traditional stripes going through that writing. Let's face it, Ford is in deep trouble and Knight Rider was seen as an opportunity to inverse that. Increase the consumption and revenues.
To make a long story sort as I feel I won't be able to beat PHOENIXZERO in making it any longer, i'm starting to think that not even the Hoff or the original voice of Kitt will be able to save this show if the writing is going to be this bad.
Michael: Kitt what matters to me is who you are not what you look like. Sure we don't have the car so we can't turbo boost so we can't go over 200 miles an hour but it was all icing on the cake anyway

Why didn't Mike have KITT make him a new ID instead of carrying around "Virgo's" with his picture on it?

I thought that guy already had Virgo's ID. Now, the why is a good question indeed, but it's much too illogical for Mike to carry around an ID with a different picture.

Yeah, Mike had an ID with his picture on it. Capricorn just had Virgo's on file like he did fingerprints and it didn't match.

I won't qoute everything you said but I' am 100% in agreement with you for sure. This is suppose to be about Mike and KITT "One man..one car" missions and or missions that come out of nowhere just by passing into a town (someone needs help). Right now, this show is just making it seem its all about T&A, sexual tension and no main stars. I mean you can't say "but Mike and KITT are the main stars" because if they were then we would see them both having more face time 80-90% of the time in episodes "together". Instead we just see the both of them together 20% of the time and thats not Knight Rider. I could care less if KITT is a Mustang, Civic, G8, Porsche, etc as long as he's black and Mike is with him the bulk of the show fighting people who operate above the law. If you asked me "what are three things that turn you off with KR08", I say here are my three things below.

1. Not much screentime between Mike and KITT (very turned off by that)
2. The storylines and missions are too obvious (writing sucks). TOS missions were all about stopping ordinary bad guys who were operating above the law. TOS missions were also about missions that were created if Michael and KITT were on R/R in a small town and something happens. Michael would then ask Devon for authorization to investigate whatever he was suspecting. Examples "A Good Day at White Rock-Season 1" or "Return to Cadiz-Season 2" just to name a few missions that just happen out of nowhere.
3. Get David Hasselhoff back into the game. Its quite simple really, DH wants to come back its no secret. DH does want the creative aspect of the show too as I am sure he has alot of idea's for storylines in his head. Also, put him back as a regular in the show (hell during the reboot) and have him take over in a Devon role. I think DH won't ask NBC for a huge contract as long as NBC grants DH's request to run some of the series. I know DH tried to do that in the early stages of bringing back Knight Rider back in the days and the former Execs at NBC denied it for some dumb reason.

Anyway I am off my soapbox :!: :good:

Did anyone else think we would get a car chase once the Zodiac crew got into three vehicles at the end? No such luck! Although I am enjoying this series somethings are starting to annoy me. Where's the stunts, car chases and is it just me or is this show turning into Baywatch!

We are grateful just to see KITT bash through a wall! in TOS this was a normality not the exception. I do fear for this series if it continues on this course. Although the retool will have some effect I doubt the overall tone and style will change.

I was kind'a dreading watching Knight of the Zodiac...But low and behold it wasn't all that bad. The Billy story was a nice side plot...I busted a rib when he told K.I.TT to go into "Attack Mode".

Vegas, Women and Cars...you can't ask for much more. :good:

This new show is just bad it’s not entertaining at all I mean there is no WOW factor in it the ep. of TOS "A Good Day at White Rock” had loading of action in it we saw what KITT could do but this show for some reason they keep it under wraps expect for the FORD transformation. It just very disappointing :dash:

Funny, *I* think it's entertaining even when it's not "good" per se. It's a rare show that can avoid being outright boring even when the writing is lacking.

I must be watching the show through Rose Colored Glasses especially after last weeks episode.

I was never expecting the new KR to be Ten Commandments epic worthy especially after our last installment was TKR...

I would love for this KR to have the same format as the original series but everyone has to agree...#1 the writers have to write it just right, #2 GST has to approve what was written, #3 Ford gets a say on how the car is presented, and lastly NBC has to approved the whole Shabang *I think its a word*.

So in the end we get what they ALL agreed upon.

I am personally glad to see KR back on tv and will enjoy watching it as long as NBC deems it worthy...Like others have stated it is escapist...but sometimes I wish that the story was not so canned I always Know the ending before it comes....

Okay now I'm done......
