Honoring the spirit of the original

This is a new Knight Rider. New characters, new technology, new missions. But there are still plenty of things that really tied back to the original. Some were blatant (referring to Michael Long), some were more of a "feeling".

Here's a line which sounded exactly like something the Knight 2000 would say:

Michael: "I am moving as fast as I can!"
KITT: "You could probably move faster if you ate a healthy diet, decreased you alcohol intake and reduced the extra-curricular activity with your lady friends."

What were some of the other things that looked/felt/tied-back-to the original series?

One quick one that comes to mind is when Michael said "Keep your eyes peeled." Felt like when his father would say "Keep your scanners peeled."

How about at the end with Mike and Sarah walking away together. KITT is seen talking to himself as he said, "They sure do make a handsome couple."

I thought that was warm and fuzzy

Well here is a few I thought:
- The back of KITT in attack mode looked similar to the Trans-Am.
- The Voice Box was similar to KI2T's Voice Box when you look closely.
- The scanner sound is much more with the original.
- Graiman's suit is similar to how Devon would dress, especially in the grey one.
- The background music having a twist to the KR theme when there is a scene going on like right in the beginning with the guards speaking amongst themselves when they acknowledge Mike.
- KITT is more of a smart ass now like KI2T.

I know I am speaking much about this but I really hope they talk more about FLAG and what happened to everyone like GST said they would. I guess I'm just eager and have to wait and see.

Btw one more thing, in KOTP it starts with Michael Long in a suit going to a somewhat of a party, kinda similar to the first episode, also the fact trying to get files and leave.

Also of course changing his name with a body to take place for his "presumed dead" status just like in the original.

When Alex said to get the video back online and Charles said they can't or it would defeat the purpose of AI, that slight smile he gave... he seemed VERY much like Devon!

The lady stealing the guy's thumb and all and trying to deliver it to someone else, that reminds me of Tonya, only this lady didn't die in the end.

Mike getting shot, etc. as someone said, is somewhat like the original where Michael Long gets shot and gets a new name.

It was a good/different idea to "kill" Mike Tracer and show it on TV News channels etc. Now he has assumed the identity of Michael Knight. But that is an underlying twist. Michael Knight had/has a lot of enemies even though we are 26 yrs ahead of our original series. There is always a bloodline of someone out to get someone which can lead to some great story lines! The only difference between him and his father is that his father had reconstructive surgery which gave him more of a clean slate. If Mike Tracer bumps into someone who knows him as Mike Tracer they will know exactly who he. It seems a little bit of melding with Viper's Joe Astor in a way. Joe Astor = Same face, no knowledge of previous life, new memory. Mike Tracer = Same face, same memories, no knowledge of life in Iraq and abroad. I am lovin' it so far.

There is far more Viper in this new series than original Knight Rider.....
Which doesn't bother me, I liked Viper.

The KITT Cave looks nearly identical to the Subway station Viper used.
A car that transforms into an attack mode via Nanotechnology.
A driver whose death was faked and had his memory blanked?
Lots of Viper have worked their way into the new KR.

lol Viper was the first thing that I thought of when the "KITT cave" was introduced, I liked Viper as well but the cgi in the first season was just yuck.

I like all the nods to the old show and I can't wait to see more episodes, it's good to see that GST hasn't forgotten KR's roots. :good:

Changing Mike Traceur into Michael Knight might lead into some interesting dialogue further on into the series.

Imagine in one scene The Hoff and Bruening are facing an enemy together, and the enemy will say "Michael Knight and... Michael Knight?!". Though if the enemy is an old one (aka Garth anyone?), maybe he will say "Ah... Michael Knight and THE Michael Knight" -- much less to Michael Knight Jr.'s contempt.

I never cared for Viper, I mean, I watched it and always thought "Knight Rider rip off and the car can't even take a small hit from a missile" after the first episode and even after it survived for a few syndicated seasons, that "KR rip off" thought always stayed in the back of my mind, even if the car didn't talk.

It'll definately be interesting to see where they go with it from here. I wonder if there will be any reference to them altering his fingerprints or something in the next episode and given his new ID"s (like in the original). Cause if thsis is anythign like the old knight rider, we know Michael will probably be getting into a wee bit of trouble with the law at some point so it would make sense to have the fingerprints altered so they don't raise questions about how he was killed and still be alive, etc.

I would imagine that the FBI would work to wipe that sort of personal data out of Mike Traceur's records and databases so it couldn't be put together though altering finger prints too could easily but more painfully work..

When KI3T says "I am the legal property of Knight Industries." reminded me of 'Knight in Disgrace' with KI2T "I'm the property of the Foundation for Law and Government."

Both Michaels were veterans of unpopular wars, and both were "killed" by women they trusted.

I figured I'd post this here since I've been rewatching season 2 of KR Original. I've noticed TONS of similiarities!!!

First off there's an episode in season 2 called "A Knight in Shining Armor" a majority of the KR episodes had something to do with the word KNIGHT I'm glad they seem to be doing that in the NEW series.

Another thing I noticed was in in the KRO episode Brothers Keeper Michael changes KITT's license plate from KNIGHT to KNI667 I'm not sure if those numbers have any meaning because if you were going to spell KNIGHT in numbers it would be KNI448.

Like Father Like Son:

they both tell KITT to shutup when he goes to far that's great!!!!

My favorite season of the original show was season 4 I loved the C Button and SPM it would be nice if the three thousand had those features in either a later episode or season.

It would be nice if NBC could use some stock footage of Devon as a hologram or something.

I wish that they would have brought Mike's buddy Dillon back from the pilot.

Neil: can or will you be making NEW KITT emoticons? :kitt: :kittside: :kittconv: :karr:

that would be soooooooo cooooooooooool

can't wait to get my season pass this wednesday on iTunes

KNIGHT RIDER BEST SHOW EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
