I'm watching it right now. Only about five minutes in, but two neat this:

1. Mike is now being referred to as "Michael" by KITT instead.

2. They're using KI2T's "scanner" noise for KI3T! :)

BTW: I changed the title of this thread to keep the discussion to one thread to not spoil people

Very nice spot goldbug! Watching it now a bit before work too :D

I did notice that Mike told KITT to "keep his eyes peeled" to which KITT replied "I do not have eyes"

Turbo Boost at 5min!

I gotta say, they've done a great job of building mystery behind Mike's past and throwing in some tense action. I'm also happy that not everything goes 100% according to plan. Really fun so far! I'm at about the 30 min mark.

Wow, that was a ride. I don't think they stopped moving until the end of the episode. Gonna need time to process it all!

Not sure when iTunes will be up - keep checking and let us know!

Yes, it had the new opening, very similar to the old but with lots of new footage and effects thrown in. KITT driving through the dessert as well.

Heading into work!

Just finished watching. Well, pilot missed action and i think the first epsiode had too much action :D Can't wait to see first episode again in HD, because watching online most of effects looked not so good, hope it was caused by low quality. Not bad, but that turbo boost looked cheap to me. I hope it will look better in the future. I don't know if i like it or not, perhaps not so much :) expected something more. Didn't liked the beginning, that part with KITT on fire was too long. However, not so bad :)

Quick notes:
Very fast-paced story. Loved all the humor. Great to hear original scanner sound. Great to see the 180s. I like the fact that Graiman and Torres know at least something about Michael's past and aren't telling him. Wished it was a 2-hour.

HOLLY CRAP! It didn't suck!! The only real forced Ford product placement was the transforming cobra emblem which I think I can deal with if they keep it minimal like they did with this episode. Turbo boost needs a little work.

HA! Only past the intro... but it's great so far!!

Intro was... interesting... seemed too short, like not the full minute, but the scenes in it were awesome!

Going back to watch it now...

if you pause at 12:35 seconds which is a close up of the voice box you can see they show it has 3 red bars like the original but it is faint that is awesome!

Hi, I'm brand spanking new to this board, but I've been checking KRO since '96. You can call me a true Knight Rider fan, I suppose.

I just watched the new episode, and I have to ask the rest of you this only because I know NBC is seriously monitoring these message boards: is it me, or was the background music scoring a bit over played? Sure, I was expecting the acting to be cheesy, but the music made the first 25 minutes almost unbearable. I'm serious, if they would just knock off on some of the music, it would be better. Silence really is golden.

Speaking of the acting, Zoey and Billy remind me of those kitten kids from Thundercats. Their characters too, were EXTREMELY overplayed. Embrace the sense of mystery, Gary. I thought we were going to be gradually introduced to a story line here, not swatted with a speeding dodge ball....you knocked me out with them, and I don't think I want to deal with the two anymore.

WOOOSH WOOOSH!!!! I think we are all a little happy with the return of KITT's authentic scanner sound. But, I gotta gripe again, because the WOOOSH should go along with the speed of KITT's scanner light. I took it with a grain of salt with the original, because it was the original :D But, thank you for the sound effect. And, I just started embracing the new one with all the commercials we have been watching on KRO.

KITT needs his robotic voice effect. I was so relieved when I heard the commercials, thinking he was going to have it. PLEASE BRING IT FOR THE TV BROADCAST!!!!

I'm sorry to say it guys, but I'm giving this show two stars only. Weak sauce, Gary. I thought you were going to be better with this.

I hear what you're saying and agree, for this episode at least... The way this scene was edited, if you didn't already know what Turbo Boost was, you might be confused as to what was actually happening. However, I'm not too worried because Neil and I saw another Turbo Boost during our set visit and it looked a lot more "traditional". I think it will be OK.

I agree with a lot of KnightINSTINCT's points. The music was intrusive, and KITT's voice needs some sort of robotic flavor. But, on the whole, it holds your interest and makes you wonder what they will do once they slow it down a bit.

The good:

Wall-to-wall action. Overcompensating a bit from the pilot, hmmm?

The car works. The HUD is terrific, and you don't miss the buttons and switches from the original for a moment. Feels like a genuine upgrade from the 80s.

The transforming works, too. In fact, I can't see how this show would work without it - sort of like waiting for Clark Kent to put on the Superman cape. Kids will love it.

Lots of excuses to get Deanna Russo nekkid. (They know their core audience)

Michael Knight is back!

Liked the turbo boost. I can see the toy sets for Christmas already.

The not so good:

The Package was the most interesting character, and they clearly just ran out of time. What the hell was he all about?

A lot of characters thrown at you all at once. Also:

The fire scene went on too long. They could have cut it in half and used that time to introduce some of the supporting characters better.

Would have like to have seen Mike wrestle with the choice of his new name a bit more, maybe with a bit more of nod to the original series (Mike looking at some old mission files with photos, etc.)

The bad:

Val Kilmer. He sounds asleep and completely disconnected from the action. A real shame, because KITT had some funny, snarky lines that, via Kilmer, just lay there. Run the same lines through William Daniels (or even Will Arnett) and they would have been laugh-out-loud funny. Kilmer couldn't get a job providing prompts for voice mail. Advice: pay him off and get KITT "upgraded."

A prediction:
PRIME_BBCODE_SPOILER_SHOW PRIME_BBCODE_SPOILER:
Look for the relationship between Knight Industries and the government to fall apart, causing KITT and Mike to go on the run for a multi-ep story arch. I suspect KITT will have a "I am not a gun" moment a la Iron Giant

The music did seem loud, but I was wondering if that had something to do with the fact that we're hearing a surround sound mix on tiny computer speakers. The balance between music and dialogue could be off.

Overall, I thought it was an improvement over the pilot: non-stop action, good humor, a lot of fun. Given time to settle in, I think it can be a show people (even non-fans) will seek out.

I agree with Mango, Val could be stronger. The irony is Kilmer can play snarky (Kiss, Kiss, Bang Bang,) maybe they can give KITT a personality transplant! :)

Hmm I think I'll just put this in spoiler tags.
PRIME_BBCODE_SPOILER_SHOW PRIME_BBCODE_SPOILER:
I just finished it a little while ago and I think I too will need a bit of time to fully process it, probably watch it a couple more times but my initial thoughts are that I think I have to agree about the turbo boost, it just didn't look right, it being stationary probably didn't help. The cobra on the bottom looks as hokey as I imagined it would, did have to do an eye roll to camera swinging around to the back and focusing on the Shelby cobra logo as it transformed into... Another cobra.. Yeah, the whole fire thing did seem to go on a bit too long, certainly could have used something to avert attention away from it for a minute aside from just going back and forth with HQ.

There was something bugging me about the early dialog with the Zoe character, it was the one liners or barely even a line that Smith Cho had, it just seemed like something written to just give her something to say. The early exchanges between her and Billy didn't seemed kind of ridged and cold, it felt to me that there was a bit of discomfort or something but not from what was going on either that or just how it was shot. But at the end of the episode when they were on the court it seemed a lot more relaxed and natural. I think I like Billy getting picked on. Justin and Deanna worked very well together, of course that should be expected. Bruce Davidson of course is a pro, Sydney did well and for a second I actually thought Carrie was really going to be a traitor. They're setting up Torres to be a bad guy but that's almost certainly going to end up being a swerve, though if I had to count on anyone on the cast being a goner by the end of the first season, it's going to be him. Maybe Zoe too since it looked like she and Torres are in on something, or was that Carrie he was talking to? I'll have to pay more attention when I watch it again.

Yeah, there was quite a bit of action in those 43 minutes, the fight scenes were good, the off screen, behind the door fight fell flat with me however, they should have just shown him kicking their asses. But with what action there was and there was surely more than in the pilot, did make it feel fun and I'm interested in where they're going to go with Mike's history though I still really, really really hope the conspiracy route doesn't lead to some silly anti-military angle.

I liked KITT's dialog, glad they didn't recycle the "are you a homosexual" joke as it looked like they were going to in one of the previews though they did sort of recycle the pheromones thing that was cut. But still, better.... They need to make KITT more uhh "Superman" like in how he should be a unparalleled, unstoppable force, similar to how the original KITT was, it did bug me how they couldn't catch up to that woman he was chasing, even with the obstacles, they can however leave out or not resort to the deus ex machina aspect of the original show with KITT/Pre-Crisis Superman. I know it was one episode and hopefully the following episodes will show some of that. I liked the mention of Michael Long and I admit it, I laughed at the name sounding like that of a pornstar and I wouldn't be surprised if there is a pornstar out there named that. Mike apparently has learned a bit about his father, maybe just his old name, maybe more, wish we could have had a flashback or two to show that.

Perhaps it'll be more clear when I watch it again, but did "the package" have that agent info coded to his DNA so it was needed to "unlock" something or did he some how alter his DNA to hide info in it which is absurd. How did he get under a bridge near Washington DC when he was apparently in California not too long before that?? He won't have to worry about his thumb since his "witness relocation" probably involved him taking the role of Mike Traceur's corpse. I liked how they went about "killing" Mike Traceur off though it would have been cool again to see how he came about deciding to take up the Knight name. Oh yeah, it was nice to see how they've gone about handling the communication with KITT though I'm still missing the wrist communicator, an ocular implant is just "meh". It'll be interesting to see where they take KITT watching over everything like that and learning on his own. The snow globe came off A LOT better and looked a lot better in the actual show than it did in the teasers. I still wish there was something actually done to the dash but I think I've softened up on the VM/Snow Globe thing. Mike giving out voice commands though I still think is going to be another thing that's going to end up as an annoyance when a button press would not only be faster and less monotonous, but more exciting.

With my nitpicks above, I'll give it a 7.5/10 right now, it was fun and entertaining and I can't wait to see where they're taking things. However, it didn't feel like Knight Rider, perhaps it's because it was the first episode and they had to set up stuff for the series and that will improve. There was again, a bit of boring driving, that being mostly that chases sequence that really needed some actual obstacles aside swerving around cars and trucks. The part with KITT being on fire was good though like I said, a bit too long especially when we all know they obviously weren't going to die and the subway scene with the truck was good though it stopped too abruptly while Mike didn't even move with the stop and a bit too much hanging out in the "KITT Cave". Oh yeah, at least the laser light show has a purpose and it was amusing to see Mike give one of the scanners a high five. Speaking of scanners, I said it before and I hope I'm not alone in this but using the scanner sound effect that was used for the original KITT just doesn't work with the double scanner, it wasn't synced at all to the lights and I dunno if it can be properly since well, there's two lights in stead of one and just one sound. It did sound like at points that they were trying to double it up, but it just doesn't work for me.

What happened with bringing back FLAG? I hope that at some point there's a big, huge separation from Knight Industries and the government agencies because just taking missions from the FBI or whatever is going to get old. Hopefully as time goes on and the story arc they have planned is finished up the FBI will get kicked to the curb so FLAG can be done proper. What is Knight Industries these days anyway? It seems like Knight Industries is a subsidiary at the mercy of the government. Hopefully if we get the return of Michael Knight, it'll lead to FLAG really being brought back.
Mostly new intro footage but the same music, was hoping it would get changed since I'm not a fan of pretty much everything from when the drums or whatever start up. What happened to the voice altering that we heard in a few commercials?

Holy crap.... I wrote A LOT more than I intended and it's been almost two hours since I first started writing this and there's been a lot of posts made. I think I'm going to watch it again now.

Wow! That was great! :good:
I loved the HUD, can’t say I had any complaints about it at all which is a relief because I was a little trepidatious about all the changes. I loved the comedic relief, the first fight where you think mike is getting beat up…. Sarah tripping on Billy. And KITT had some great lines too. KITT was really 100 percent better personality wise I thought.
Zoey smiled way too much, I get that she’s the “dumb blond” but she should have a little more concern for Mike and Sarah.
They totally had me when Carrie shot Mike, even though I knew he had to get his name changed.
When it ended I was like no! don’t end

In the intro I saw some things that looked like the dry lake from TOS, but not quite...

After all that writing, I forgot to say that the HUD did look great, I still however wish for a few physical objects for Mike to interact with.

I'm still giving the show, or at least what little we've seen so far a :good: like Sue just did, well only one right now because I still need my other two. They can have one of my spares.

EDIT: Make that about an hour from when I started writing my long post, I need to adjust the time on here, I got confused. O_o
