Strange glitch found in original KR episode

In the episode lost knight when the kid from the baseball team gets tied up with the explosives at the dam, it shows a shot of the timer they are using. It has a mode, set, and a light button. The thing that gets me is that the timer is a digital timer, almost like the alarm clock in your bedrooms. The numbers are visible in either dark or light and do not need any additional light source to read. Why do you think the light button was there?

I think the timer was just an LCD, like on most watches. The 'Light' button probably had an Indigo-like light found on watches today.

I wished I could get a screen cap of the timer. It isn't like an LCD timer it is one of the ones that lights ups red and can be scene at day or nighttime. Why would you need a backlight for a screen which is visible in both light and dark?

You wanna know a strange glitch?

In Scent of the Roses, Michael, Bonnie and KITT go to this amazing trouble to enhance Durante's face off of a briefcase reflection when they could have just zoomed and enhanced the video because there are about 40 frames where we see his face clearly :)

Isn't there a topic on the board somewhere for this?
Or does someone make a new thread everytime there is a blooper in the series?
Just curious.

Ask and you shall receive:

There is a light button on the timer because it appears that the digital numbers were added on in post-production. You can even see the superimposed screen slightly moving when watched on DVD. The actual alarm probably had a regular uncolored digital display with a small light that illuminates from the side, as many digital watches had in the '80s. Apparently it was more visually striking to superimpose digital numbers from another clock to give it a more traditional bomb timer look.

Good point. Super imposed probably made the display easy to work with and see from the camera's pov.

I'm reminded of a scene from a totally different show, "That 70's show."

Episode: Eric gets a digital watch as a gift. It uses lights to work with. There's a button to make it light up. Why? Because, it was pre-LCD. And, keeping the lights on all the time would run the battery down too quickly. We are talking outdated technology, here. And, I wouldn't know my ancient tech to say if that was LED, LCD or micro bulb. I just don't think it's mechanical dials with numbers written on them.

great thanks for the shot. I was kinda thinking maybe they took an old clock and redid it with newer style numbers but superimposing would have been a lot easier and quicker. As to greenlywinger I think there is an official nitpick thread but I may be wrong.

I will try to search through the board for this.
