although it isn't the KITT we all have come to know and love it still is a nice car. at least the last 2 pictures look nice and i can accept it as the knight 3000.

but i wonder: does it have a scanner or something like that?

I think KITT looks BAAAAD. As in mean, and tough, and strong. And Bad is good.

I think it look pretty lame. No effort has been put into it. Its 99% a stock run-of-the-mill production car. Hardily "The Car of the Future" is it?

In my own opinion, it looks like a stock mustang you could buy anywhere. It's most definately not KITT and those silver/gray racing stripes destroy the stealthy look of the sleek shiny black shell we've all grown to love not to mention the lack of a scanner (unless it's not turned on in the upper grill).

I mean no blackouts, no modified front end, even the rims look cheap. In all fairness I suppose we have to wait and see how it lines up in the context of the show (if it airs) but I think it's safe to say at this point our feature film has nothing to worry about.

The cast looks interesting, I could buy Justin as Michael Knight's son but did they really have to make their "Knight Rider" logo type the same as the show Viper? I mean really, put some effort into it. I think it's abundantly clear where they're tapping their ideas from.

To quote a famous line from the debut of the original tv series

"The competition is no competition."

They just don't "get it".

well said Victor. I'm sure Glen will show them how it should be done.

I'm very interested to see how they handle the transformation between the two cars. The "attack mode" is certainly NOT a stock Mustang configuration. I am one of the people who liked SPM in the original series, and I like the idea of transforming cars. I thought that Viper changed TOO much, but this new KITT could be all right.

It's like a bad mix of MAD MAX and THE FAST AND THE FURIOUS.

KITT ATTACK? SPM was a lame addition to the series... why revisit that in the pilot?

...and no pics of the interior?

Some one wake me from this knightmare.

It most certainly IS a stock Mustang. You can go down to any local customizer shop (especially in Hollywood or LA) and have one built, the only catch is attaining the high priced Shelby Cobra Mustang to do it which are typically limited editions. The dual spoiler, the rims, even the scanner fitted in the air scoop grill are very easy to attain.

The beauty of Scheffe's work is that it's all a work of art and in order to attain those very specialized parts, you have to buy them from someone who has to custom make them from the ground up or cast them off the originals.

Nothing here is visually unique.

The new K.I.T.T. is ugly as f***ing sin and has a shIIIing cobra on the front, like some kind of car company advertisement; it's really an eyesore.

This is EXACTLY what I was worried K.I.T.T. would be: a bulky, ugly, "macho man" of the new millennium look that dumb@$$, drunk teenagers sport when they go party in Panama City, FL, or Destin.

So, the new super pursuit (Attack) mode is nothing more than a
grill cover and a queer wing. Wonder if there is any dash modifications
at all. Looks like crap to me though. It must go faster when the stripes go
away. Very lame looking.

stripes and stickers do make cars go faster knight driver. Haven't you seen the rice and the ridiculous? Or 2 Rice 2 Ridiculous?

I see a full, stock steering wheel in the PR event shots. Seeing as how this is a 2 hour Ford promo, I'm betting that the interior will be stock... including the instrument panel.

What are the physics behind the color change of the wheels? Is the new rear spoiler going to pop out of the trunk? What about the grill and headlight guards? TRANSFORMERS were aliens... I'm not sure where they're going with this.

I saw a GT-500 at a local dealership for around $40-45K.... which is around the going price of a turnkey KITT replica. A standard GT could be used for MUCH cheaper. I won't even mention how the design is what... four years old... AND on the verge of being phased out.

Victor I don't think you and Glen and the Wienstiens will have anything to worry about. Looks like this will be going down like TKR.

...except, will the Weinstein's want to pony up $100,000+ for a big-screen adaptation if the new pilot/series tanks?

The feature film is moving forward regardless of the NBCU pilot, I've already explained this. It was moving forward before the pilot was announced and nothing has changed.

If this pilot does go the way of TKR and KR 2000 it only makes our product all the more authentic and desirable. TWC trusts in Glen and so should the fans.

We're taking our time to make sure the feature film does not disappoint from both a story standpoint and on a production level.

Sorry, but as KITT it's just ugly.
Whatever the 80's transam marketing position as a muscle car, it had the sleek lines of a sports car. That massive front grill by contrast belongs on a rally car.

The two changes I would make:

Lose the cobra insignia.
Black-outs on the rear lights.

I'm sure that the producers were contractually obligated to keep the car as-is, but these are minor points. If the story and action sequences are strong, this car can certainly play the role of KITT for me.

TKR and Knight Rider 2000 did not fail because of the bad cars (and in some ways, they both had some success.) Their problems were the stories.

Maybe not necessarily, but I don't know of too many fans who actually like the Knight 4000 or any of the Team Knight Rider cars.

So, it shapeshifts from a Mustang to...a Mustang? Anyway, this car belongs in the Mad Max films. I cannot accept this as the new K.I.T.T. Not much for me to say here that hasn't already been said. The worst-case scenario that could have occurred (well, aside from turning K.I.T.T. into an SUV or something) would have been to make K.I.T.T. mean, muscular and aggressive, and that's exactly what happened.

The importance of keeping this new car sleek like the original Trans Am would be to LINK THE TWO CARS TOGETHER. While I wasn't crazy about some peoples' ideas to have the new K.I.T.T. be a Corvette, after seeing the Mustang, it really makes the Corvette seem like a much better choice. I don't even see a scanner on this thing. The only thing this car has in common with the original K.I.T.T. is that it's black. And don't even get me started on the ridiculous spoiler. It belongs on those so-called "rice rockets."
