I agree. Maybe the youtube popularity is even better sign for the new Knight Rider's success than the Nielsen ratings. I don't know what kind of homes/age group/audience Nielsen follows when taking the ratings but I think in youtube is most of the target audience for Knight Rider, kids, young people and also many of the original series fans. If it's so popular in the target audience, the youtube success show more detailed result spesificly for Knight Rider than the Nielsen if Nielsen takes the ratings by taking "samples" from random homes, mixture of young, middle age and old viewers.
Wasn't it the "low" ratings that killed the original Knight Rider too, they said there's not enough viewers and it's too expensive show to produce (because SPM & C-mode)? How wrong they were, ratings isn't everything.

It's great to see Knight Rider's popularity/interest is still there after all these years! Should get some great ratings for NBC that night.

That's great to know. It goes to show that after all the cheap knocks that almost every article takes at the series and/or Hasselhoff, there's still a high amount of interest. Plus, I think it's coming along at a perfect time, too. The script made it in just before the writer's strike, which means competition will be low because most other shows that NBC is showing are reality or game shows. Other shows like Heroes, Lost and 24 are all on hiatus. If the movie goes to series (which I have no doubt that ratings will be through the roof), the competition will be most likely back by then, and that's when I think producers might have something to sweat about. But that's getting a little ahead of ourselves.

Yup. That, and there was or has been another show like that.

I think people will watch it to see if it'll measure up to the original and those that will watch it at their disgust of the KITT-Stang.

Personally, I am a fan of the Mustang; it's a beautiful machine and a muscle-car classic, and even though the idea of KITT being a KITT-Stang is growing on me, I am still somewhat skeptical about it. But who knows, maybe NBC will prove us wrong on February 17th. Strange things have happened before.

If you also look under that video, mine is to the left on the video responses.

But don't forget that the video on youtube is watched by people all over the world. :)

My point is that fans like me, who aren't from USA, don't have the nbc station. :) I would love to see the movie (although I don't like the idea of KI3000 being a Mustang) but I don;t have the ability. :|
The ratings on youtube are high, but that dosen't mean, that everyone who watched the teaser will watch the pilot on nbc. :)

I hope that you understand what I write, because english isn't my native language.

I wrote this several hours ago but the message board was having some problems so I wouldn't submit... Let's see if it does now! :D

I think people will accept it better than they would if it were a remake. Hopefully, if the show is made into a series and last awhile the car will be changed some something sleeker. My biggest annoyance is the emblems and the teaser didn't alleviate my concerns over this being a glorified two hour Ford commercial including "limited commercial interruptions, brought to us by Ford.

There probably wasn't a whole lot of choices since GM probably wasn't interested, especially after the annoyance brought about from the original series, plus they have a deal with Paramount, besides that, there aren't a whole lot of cars with bodies that would be durable and affordable on a TV budget to do stunts seeing as most cars now have fiberglass bodies. That, aside from Ford probably giving NBC a very good deal on the cars, is a big reason why the Mustang was likely chosen.
