L.A. Times blog entry on new KITT

This L.A. Times blog entry gives a little bit of background info on KITT's new designer.

"Famed movie car designer Harald Belker was called upon to design the "Attack Car," and the modern interior of all the KITT's. I've known and worked with Harald, and when I spoke with him at the KITT unveiling ceremony at the NBC Burbank Studio, I was surprised to hear he watched Knight Rider growing up in Germany! Evidently part of that curious Teutonic fascination with the Hoff. Harald designed the Batmobile from "Batman and Robin," the futuristic car from "Minority Report" and the "Cat in the Hat" car, among others. As a fan of the original "Knight Rider" series, I think he knew the Attack Mustang had to be a very strong design that would excite fans old and new. The Attack Car and interiors were built by Ted Moser's Pix Cars."

Additional information as well.

Thanks for the info. Michael. At least we got some talent that are actually fans of the original series working on the cars. :dash4:

I'm not exactly sure how adding a body kit, stock black rims and a double-winged spoiler qualifies as "designing." I'm also wondering why this version is called the "Attack Mode," because that name suggests that the Knight 3000 has offensive weapons, which, as the design of the car does, misses the point of what a Knight Industries vehicle is supposed to be.

Well that explains so much right there. Last time I checked, none of those car designs were embraced by the public as successful . Excuse me while I pull myself off the floor from falling out of my chair, LMFAO.

Hello Victor

You have written in the last time, how many parts are not right on the new car.
From the not new designed nose - to the tail.
That’s easy to say.

So I expect that the car, which to be designed from Mr. Larsons people must be amazing.
No matter for the type of vehicle.
So I assume that the car from Glen Larson will look awesome.

We're doing our best to please the fans in the most feasible ways we can do it. We don't expect everyone to love our choices but if they can see the car working for K.I.T.T., we've accomplished our goal. We're not going to make this movie "on the cheap."

Victor, it better not be "on the cheap", it's a hollywood production. It should have a much larger budget to work with. Personally, I can't wait to see Knight Rider on the big screen! Getting a pilot on NBC, and possibly a new series is a bonus to us fans. As I stated before, I will happily watch both of them. I really don't think the producers of the NBC pilot are trying to be "cheap" on the production value aspect. Afterall, NBC has put out some decent shows in the past few years. 8) :spm:

I'm going to take a shot in the dark and hope that the dashboard in that particular car is not going to be the official dashboard. I think they needed to keep at least the steering wheel the same for exterior shots of Justin driving, though.
