NBC 2007 KITT....

Post by d_osborn » Wed Oct 24, 2007 1:05 pm

Might as well get a thread going for the new NBC pilot KITT...

Personally, my hunch is the new Nissan GTR. Nissan and NBC already have a working relationship... supplying cars for HEROES, among other shows. It has angular lines, LOOKS like something that could be seen on the road, even though it hasn't been released. IMHO, it just has the KITT look...

Hm...I see part Scion TC, part Tiburon GT, part Toyota Celica, and part Nissan 350Z, but I can't see it as K.I.T.T.

Acura NSX Concept is much better: http://www.autoblog.com/2007/01/07/detr ... -the-imag/
The front is very similar to KITT's.

Put the scanner between lights, poping-up headlights, put the hood like KITT has and it's KITT.

i like the lines of the acura, but it's a concept... more than likely not going into production. kitt is a car that, while sporty and flashy, can blend into ordinary traffic. the acura is too... i don't know... KIFT for my tastes. stands out WAY too much, and won't age well at all....

plus, nissan already has a huge sponsorship deal with NBC/univ on HEROES. hmmm....

But the whole new gimmick of the new K.I.T.T. vehicle is that it can shapeshift to look like other cars roughly the same size. Therefore it should no longer matter if it stands out or not in its regular form. I really like this Acura concept, though. My only problem, however, is that I believe K.I.T.T. should always be an American car. Not only would it be maintaining the characteristics of the original Trans Am, but Wilton Knight was American and so was the Foundation; it just makes more sense to me that the car would be, too. The other option I could see is to simply come up with a brand new car altogether, specifically for the show, which is what I would do.

the rageous... from the mid-90s??!?! where's the vomiting emoticon?

even with the shapeshifting, there has to be a "base" for KITT...and i would HATE to see it as something "exotic" as the acura. plus, i don't see acura ponying up the dough to feature a concept in a production like KR.

who knows what it will end up being... but i have a feeling that we're close to find out. 8)

I really don't like the Nissan, and not just as KITT. I just don't like it in general.

The Acura is very cool, and IMO does look more like a modern day KITT, but as d_osborn said it's a concept vehicle and very few of those ever wind up in movies unless they're going into eventual production (a la Transformers 08 Camero and Pontiac Solstice). I think the only movie I've seen (well in previews anyway) recently that actually had a true concept vehicle featured in it was the Audi in iRobot. But in action sequences, the car was completely CGI.
Flyer Guy: "You really a talking car?"
KITT: "No. I'm a tight end for the Chicago Bears!"

Wow.. no love for the Nissan? Flat, angular lines...low, wide stance... non-exotic, yet cool and sporty production vehicle... 2+2 seating config...and most importantly, the manufacturer already having product placement deals intact with the network...AND it's a brand-new vehicle, much like the third gen. T/A in '82. It screams "modern KITT" to me. Here's a quickie mock-up. Note... QUICKIE. 8)

Maybe extend the nose a bit, make it a bit more angular and simplified... black out the headlights... modify the tail lights somehow... some sort of turbo-cast style hubcap... auto trans., TAN LEATHER...touchscreen LCD instrument panel with integrated video screens and animated interface... no buttons, no switches... all flat. think iphone. I can see it now!

Still looks like something better suited for something like The Fast and the Furious.

Just use the Trans Am concept based off the new Camaro.

...I guess the black vette is possible too.
Michael: "KITT! Where are ya?!"
K.I.T.T.: "I'm in your parking space, Michael, where else would I be?"

To my knowledge, there is no official 09 T/A concept... only uncommisioned fan art. I could be wrong, though... someone hit me with a link if there is something. IMHO, the new F-body is far too late 60s/70s inspired to make a good KITT.

The newest Vette wouldn't be a bad base...very nice, sharp lines. we would just have to hope that the new driver wouldn't need to rescue more than one person at a time. :?

I really don't see GM backing this show... who knows, though.

He shouldn't be to flashy or stylistic, if they're trying to be so much into the universe of the previous show.
And when things appeared to get better, they got worse, and everyday was a day to cry.

Couldn't agree more, KITT may have been the car of the future/tomorrow, but he had a look that helped him blend in so Michael could still work under cover and not stand out.

Heh...no more 'Officer: "You might want to consider repainting the color of your car until the crisis is over." Michael: "That's quite all right. We have the option of flipping the license plate over."'

...
..
.

Here's a joke sub-plot to chew on...

Michael walks in to find KITT not looking at all like himself. "KITT...we have serious work to do. You can have an image crisis next week." Ahh, the light hearted potentials, in that one. A Transformers scene, revisited...

.
..
...

More food for thought.

Michael has to investigate something that involves going near the Trans-Am nationals. KITT has to blend in, so as not to be seen. Get where I'm going with this? 8)

Female extra: "What's this funny light on the front?"

Not necessaraly, you could keep the hubcaps just make them about 25 percent larger and maybe use the auto color feature to balance the 2 different blacks in the photo.

Yea that might work bigger hubcaps and no pontiac logo. So how about it? This is to the person who made the picture.
